Lock up game’s tax deviants

887

The football industry is busy with its twice-a-year transfer jamboree this week but there will scarcely be a player, manager or executive in the country who isn’t daily checking on Harry Redknapp’s on-going court case into his alleged tax arrangements.

Harry, of course, is one of the game’s popular figures, everyone likes him, including me, but his evidence yesterday, that he’s been told “The problem with you is you’re named Harry and you have a cockney accent”, will have the nation pondering if he’s another victim of the systemic prejudice against white, wealthy, indigenous-named, senior and successful people from London.  There must surely be a support group he can join.

I’m sure Harry’s innocence will be established but the law and tax authorities are right to pursue any doubt that exists in the running of the game, without fear or favour.  Where appropriate, pursue the guilty through criminal, not just civil, courts.  Only then will the innocent be sure of a level playing field. Lock ‘Em Up, as a Cockney may observe.

Phil Mac saying he’s heard Blobby McCoist ain’t allowed to go looking at players due to cost cutting. As Normo Tebbit might say Get On Yer Bike! Aswell as deflating your rapidly ballooning thighs you could combine your player viewings with a much needed sponsored pedalthon. Or does Phil mean he canny go to watch players cos it might be, like, totally and utterly pointless. Surely not.

I know that I am not Dick Byrnes cup of tea and we had our disagreements. He is not alone. ;-) but I have never heard a bad word said about him. In fact the opposite. I never met Chris but he also has a prescence on CQN of respect and love and a high regard which is a testament to Chris himself. Thoughts and regards to anyone who may be hurting today.

There’s something about that guy that means I wouldn’t by a second hand car off him.

At about 2 £Huns an episode you gotta yourself a bargain. Not as good as da Sopranos, Twin Peaks, The Wire, (insert US tv prog of yer choice here) but cracking nonetheless

  10. angelgabriel –

    You will not be disappointed.

My mini-Baldie’s got me Season One for Christmas and I quickly bought Season 2 (13 episodes). Coincidentally I also paid £15 for this, half price, in HMV.

me and Mrs Baldie are currently half way through the half price 2nd series. Episode 9 scheduled for 9.00 tonight.

  11. why is it that ez Celts who get a media gig never put the boot into them. Walker on Clyde tonight being outdone tonight by Darrell King in terms of having a pop at them. Wee Darrell is pretty certain that Rangers are definitely not going to get their wanted price for Jelavic.

  13. Got myself a Jinky/Lennon tee shirt today in Glasgow.

Guy in shop says business has been slow but he is in there everyday even though he has a broken ankle.

I promised him that I would give a “puff” on the blog for his great selection off tee shirts.

    And this is it.

Very nice sentiment,I have only been in Dick Byrne’s

company once, for an hour or so,a gentleman.

  15. That guy Del on Clyde was incredibly rude going on about Walker being a cheat re his oft mentioned comments about doing anything to get an advantage. Thought he did very well not to lose it and brilliantly put him in his place on the Aluko dive. Sure shut him up.

Was amazed he was allowed so much airtime given how rude he was.

Do you know what I’ve noticed in the past few days?

The sense of panic and downright confusion of the mob from over there.

They are not even sure they are the peoples any more. Very entertaining!

  21. Can anyone post the link for the T-shirts for the African Celtic team that appeared on here a few days ago ?
