Look under the bonnet at Killie

647

There is no outrage louder than moral outrage, so I ignored this week’s stupidity by Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston, adding volume seemed moot, but if you look below the bonnet of this decision you’re likely to find the real story.  Kilmarnock FC is in a critical condition.

They need your money this week, probably even more than they need the goodwill of their own fans.  Mr Johnston’s most damaging folly has not been to offer Celtic fans a better deal than his own club’s supporters, it has been the failure to address the club’s financial imperative over a long number of years.  Like another club I can think of, getting cash in the door is the only game in town, as a failure to do so would bring enormous consequences.

It is the Killie fans who suffer as “Speaking as a solicitor” Johnston clings to what passes for power at a busted flush.  Don’t apologise for this week’s self-harming insult, instead be contrite about the actions which brought about the problem.

  3. The display on Tuesday is a picture of lawwell with his hands full of cash and a big grin on his coupon.

If the story about tickets going for £57 via a company/tout are true this board need to go, they are ripping the pish out the fans HH

  4. DJBEE,

For bars in the area where you can here yourself and aren’t surrounded by kids head to Bridge of Allan, Crooked Arm, Westerton, all on Henderson Street, 10 minutes on the number 54(I think)bus or around £7-8 taxi. Any bus going to BoA or the Uni. will get you there.

If it’s wild night life with boom boom music MarkieBhoy88 has it covered.

Not often you hear The Boys of the Old Brigade on the ol BBC2 but there it was on Peaky Blinders tonight. (Beeb2 now on the list). The use of music is quite interesting in that it combines modern day tunes, ie Nick Cave etc even though set in 1919-20. The Boys of course is also one of the modern ones.

20:22 on 26 September, 2013I hear the Barca display is an outing of the SFA for their backing of the zombie franchise. Or was that a dream?

The best and possibly only way to expose the huns/Ogilvie/SFA cover up et al,is by a GB type display, but would it get past our gatekeepers?

  7. I am very impressed with Aiden being able to handle life in Russia so well.

I know hes getting paid very well but no-one else from these islands has been able to hack it.

  8. So stubhub.co.uk is an eBay owned site “Where fans buy & sell tickets™” so the tickets supposedly come from fans (and if they do that’s a shame). Isn’t it interesting that they’re all in the same block.

Hmmm as our gracious host might say.

Cheers, I will try them all before I make a final decision, where is the best place to start?

Is that the sponsors block, or the block offered to the season card holders as their extra entitlement to buy?

  11. weeminger-Celtic whoring tickets on these websites is both shameful and unacceptable to me.They are double the price of my ticket.

  12. Good evening all.

Anyone heard anything about a fan zone in the Merchant City before Tuesday’s game against Barca? Planning my apres work / pre-game festivities already ;-)

  13. Not being up on the clubs in northern England I was wondering if it would be acceptable to add to my celtic wardrobe a rainjacket from “The Celtic Nation”.

It looks to be a smart piece of clothing with a single shamrock on the left side.

Any negative politics that I’m not aware of ? Just askin’

No they are tickets Celtic gave a company who they seem in partnership with who held the tickets until it was sold out and are punting them for a bomb, they are nothing more than touts and Celtic are happy to go with it. It’s a joke

    Evening all,

Interesting discussion re the availability of Barca tickets.

I know some people in the business class section who are not willing to pay the price for the three game package for that section.

Further I also know folk who said that they are looking for tickets and they seem to have been directed here http://www.1st4footballtickets.com/champions-league-celtic-vs-fc-barcelona-tickets/glasgow-15525.html where there are a variety of tickets and varying crazy prices for different sections of the ground.

Now I am intrigued as to how these are being sold as I am pretty sure that Season Ticket holders are not allowed to resell or otherwise transfer their seats.

Our set pieces on Tuesday were hopeless, we let Charlie take 8 or 9 , where he repeatedly played the same ball which was lapped up by Morton defence. Kris Commons was no better. The optimist in me was hoping we were hiding our game plan from Barca scouts.

The pessimist suggests teams have got us sussed and that curtailing our set piece threat reduces our effectiveness by 60/70%.

    TinyTim,

I have long felt that Scotland over indexes on a Sky subscriptions.

I am sure that there will be evidence out there somewhere that backs up my hunch.

    All,

    Saturday.

I can’t be bothered thinking through a starting 11, but , I think we should rest Mikel , Virgil, Charlie , Adam and Broony.

There are also others I would wrap up, and slightest knock get them off – Sammy , Fraser, Efe, and Izzy.

You can also take it that those 9 would be in my starting 11 for Tuesday.

I would also give Amido and Nir a decent run on Saturday with a view to being ready to help out ( not as starters) on Tuesday.

Lionroars – Big Jock had the Scotland team do that routine in the 1982 world cup – i think against New Zealand.

Agree. I can understand passing a handful of tickets to an external agency to get rid of, as any announcement of tickets being available results in queues round the block, jammed phone lines etc. However there’s absolutely no way they can justify the prices.

The seller sets the price. If (and I doubt it) Celtic were unaware of the premium stubhub would put on top of that, then they should withdraw the tickets and re-set the price.

    Really shocking.

  19. DJBEE,probably City Walls. It’s a Wetherspoons type pub.Born and bred Stirling myself and usually start in there, although dont go out there that often.

If you like live music,No.2 Baker Street usually has a band on.Enjoy

Celtic are advertising the partnership with this mob on the Celtic website

My impression of the Champions League tickets sale was:

    1. Season Ticket Holders;

    2. Season ticket holders can buy for friends/family;

    3. General Sale;

    4. Free for all for shysters/touts etc.

Are we saying that step 3 was missed out?

  24. DJBEE….. Steer clear of BofA its a shithole, get yourself into Morrisons then Molly Mallones after that make your way up to Baker Street and you can choose between No.2, Sportsters, Nicky Tams, Claymores (ruff as feck) and a couple of others. Plenty decent pubs to keep you busy in Stirling and if you do get bored jump in a train up to Dunblane only costs £3:40 for a return and there’s a few good pubs up here HH

  25. Should these tickets not have been sold inside the stadium on Tuesday at the Morton game. The mate I was at the game with on Tuesday, can only go midweek because of work. He goes every midweek game, and takes time of on Saturday to watch Celtic when he can. He before a tout, deserves a ticket.

    Celtic join forces with StubHub

By: Newsroom Staff on 26 Sep, 2013 17:05

CELTIC are today delighted to announce a new partnership with StubHub – the world’s largest ticket marketplace and part of the eBay Inc group of companies.

And what better way to begin the partnership than with the announcement that a limited number of tickets for next week’s UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona are available via StubHub now at http://www.stubhub.co.uk

The agreement will see the club use StubHub as an additional distribution channel for our home match tickets, giving supporters the opportunity to obtain match tickets for games that they might otherwise not be able to get tickets for, enabling fans to show their support to Neil Lennon and the Bhoys when possible.

  27. I’ve sent an email to jptaylor questioning the pricing strategy and asking that the club review so that in future fans will pay no more than they would have done by buying directly from the club.

In principle I have no objection to the club using this method to get rid of a handful of tickets at the last minute, but there’s absolutely no justification for these prices. If there’s a loss involved (and let’s face it there isn’t) then it should be absorbed by the club.

  28. I very, very rarely contact anybody about things like this, that’s a measure of how upset I am by it.

Well done mate hopefully you get a answer, the club told us weeks ago it was a sell out when they turned hundreds of fans away at the ticket office after they stood for hours so there was plenty of demand without this mob HH
