Look under the bonnet at Killie

647

There is no outrage louder than moral outrage, so I ignored this week’s stupidity by Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston, adding volume seemed moot, but if you look below the bonnet of this decision you’re likely to find the real story.  Kilmarnock FC is in a critical condition.

They need your money this week, probably even more than they need the goodwill of their own fans.  Mr Johnston’s most damaging folly has not been to offer Celtic fans a better deal than his own club’s supporters, it has been the failure to address the club’s financial imperative over a long number of years.  Like another club I can think of, getting cash in the door is the only game in town, as a failure to do so would bring enormous consequences.

It is the Killie fans who suffer as “Speaking as a solicitor” Johnston clings to what passes for power at a busted flush.  Don’t apologise for this week’s self-harming insult, instead be contrite about the actions which brought about the problem.

My impression of the Champions League tickets sale was:

    1. Season Ticket Holders;

    2. Season ticket holders can buy for friends/family;

    3. General Sale;

    4. Free for all for shysters/touts etc.

Are we saying that step 3 was missed out?

There was a general sale on monday ,about 200 tickets went on sale £49

  2. DJBEE depends where your staying, Morrisons and Molly Malones are on Murray Place and the others I mentioned are obviously in Baker Street or there’s a few down a street called the Craigs. Outback (aussie pub), Porters (karaoke) and port customs also down there. If it was me I’d start in Morrisons then go to mollys then no.2 baker st then Claymores then nicky tams then sportsters then round the corner to the corn exchange and on to city walls then head down the craigs to porters for a wee laugh at folk on the karaoke. …… Wherever you go you’ll have good fun HH

  3. I’m fairly certain that these tickets are those returned by UEFA sponsors. Not tickets that would have been available for normal sale. They probably don’t have to say until the last minute whether they want them or not. That’s why I don’t have a problem with the Stubhub linkup in principle.

Unless there’s a very clear reason why the club can’t sell them to Stubhub at a price that means the end user gets them for face value then this looks very poor indeed.

  4. Evening Timland, still very warm in the hun free mountain valley.

The link BRTH re Barca tickets, have the tickets come from supporters, or the club.

The cheapest is 120 up to 280.

If the club, then answers need to be forthcoming, if supporters, again answers needed.

No, that’ll be ‘fans’ tickets as the club have a partnership with Stubhub.co.uk now.

  7. weeminger etc

I went on that stubhub ticket site earlier for a look and I’m sure the tickets were selling at around £56 odds a PAIR. Thought it a good deal .They’re now sold out

  8. I was under the impression that after the last sash bash at the bigot dome, round about a year ago, the army themself’s said no more.

Yet we have another 400 troops parading at the bigot dome this weekend.

And I would bet my cave that the sevco won’t be footing the bill.

How much does it cost to hire wan o those wee planes that carry streamers behind them ?

  9. I stayed away after the Morton game – blood boiling – calmed down now.

Please please dont tell me that Celtic were selling tickets via stubhub for daft prices?

  10. DD

Aye it has its fair share of monkeys also but thankfully they are awfully quiet these days ;-) HH

P.S. You still making money from R.Tart??

  11. the glorious balance sheet on

Is it possible that these tickets that have turned up on the stubhub site were tickets that Celtic had held back to sell in their Travel Club hotel and match ticket £179 packages?

  12. TET

Agree, on both fronts. Whoever has passed these tickets to a tout, has sold their Celtic soul. Looks like the Club, unfortunately.

I went part way through the ordering process, and I’m sure it was the price per ticket sold in pairs ie you couldn’t buy a single ticket. However if it was for the pair I’m sure the fans liaison officer will be very quick to make that clear in his response to me.

TET is talking about a different site to the one the club is using.

The club is using Stubhub.co.uk. They were charging £56/ticket.

The other site is 1st4footballtickets and those tickets will be coming from ‘fans’, possibly corporate clients but not directly from the club.

Stubhub is an eBay company, it’s not some fly by night operation eg they ensure the buyer is protected etc. They form partnerships with sports clubs etc, they wouldn’t be happy if the clubs’ were using other sites as well.

  15. Stubhub tickets swallowed up by another tout site probably.I’m sure any profits will go to the 125 Charities…..aye right.Shocking and disgusting.

Always stay at KR Bannockburn, nice spot. In Clydebank, they are dying in their shame. They know their grandchildren will be Celtic or Bankies supporters.

  17. weeminger

I would have thought that the club wouldn’t be too happy about touting.

You mention corporate tickets, would they have a wide range of tickets for all parts of the ground ?

If not, some SB holders are taking the piss.

    HH

  18. I may be wrong but my understanding is that stubhub is a site for fans to sell unwanted or extra tickets, they are not supplied directly by the club

  22. TET,

Havent read anything saying that, but will take your word for it,

could it be that stubhub have to have some form of permission or

licence from Celtic to sell fans tickets and that is the agreement they have

    Celtic join forces with StubHub

By: Newsroom Staff on 26 Sep, 2013 17:05

CELTIC are today delighted to announce a new partnership with StubHub – the world’s largest ticket marketplace and part of the eBay Inc group of companies.

And what better way to begin the partnership than with the announcement that a limited number of tickets for next week’s UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona are available via StubHub now at http://www.stubhub.co.uk

The agreement will see the club use StubHub as an additional distribution channel for our home match tickets, giving supporters the opportunity to obtain match tickets for games that they might otherwise not be able to get tickets for, enabling fans to show their support to Neil Lennon and the Bhoys when possible.

  24. OK a quick summary

    1) The club has announce a partnership with Stubhub.co.uk on the official site.

    2) Stubhub has been on the go for over a decade. It is now an eBay company.

    3) All the tickets I saw for sale on Stubhub were in block 439

    4) I think the most likely source for these is unwanted UEFA / sponsor tickets

    5) Tickets available elsewhere are being touted and I think it’s unlikely they came from the club
