Manager and team must show stoic unity

1148

You can train to be a football player for years, hone your skills and work on your fitness, but there are situations you can never prepare for until you are in the spotlight.  Yesterday Mark Wilson had to field questions about his team-mates’ performance and his manager’s position, after another abject performance which drew criticisms from Neil Lennon towards the players.

Mark gave a textbook response to the BBC, “I don’t like slagging my team-mates off but we have to do better.

“Football is a result-driven game but we don’t want that [Neil Lennon sacked].  We are firmly behind the manager and we love working with him and the coaching staff.”

We should be in no doubt that harsh words are being spoken in the dressing room and team spirit must be awful, but the outside world need to see stoic unity.

  1. Morning CQN,

I have not posted in a while however have been popping in from time to time….

So what about Saturday eh? I honestly cannot take any positives from the match… Is it just me? We do not seem to have any backbone? Our Midfield is very weak, Kayal over rated? Hooper not interested? Defence => enough said!

I Seriously believe there is something seriously wrong at CP? Maybe others on here can elaborate further but there is something stirring IMHO……

I hate to say it but this is the poorest Celtic squad I have watched in recent times… Aye ok we have numerous injuries however! We should have a squad capable of winning these games!!!!

    Rant over!

    Hail Hail

Fair play to those who think it is best for Celtic if Neil goes but I would ask who will come after Neil?

Neil unified this club last Summer and that was a monumental achievement IMO.

Celtic FC will be at war with itself if Neil fails, the ol divide and conquer that is used literally everywhere.

Neil Lennon is one of the Brightest men ever when it comes to Celtic, he done a seemingly impossible task, he knew what had to be done to get us unified again. Oh My God did Neil scare the Utter Crap out of the establishment of this pathetic little country. The scum en-masse done everything it could to make him fail.

I am keeping the Faith in Neil to Win this SPL and any other he enters.

5/2 seems a nice price to get on. :)

Awww ahm sorry ah forgot to put a wee smiley or a wee cutey thumsup in my reply to ernie ”

I’m fairly certain there’s a note of sarcasm there but the point you are intending to make has escaped me. Why do you think CP is the only correct usage when we have stated this is more a point of changing usage? Those that want to be fundamental or pedantic will insist on CP. The rest of us are willing to use whatever term our peers habitually use.

You can reply with or without a smiley but now that I know what pushes your buttons, expect to see a few smilies whenever I reply to you :-)

    Nothing to be positive about????

Fella, you’re a Celtic supporter, one of the most magical, inspirational, marvellous characteristics that a man can have.

Revel in your good fortune. Maybe sitting up with the GB would help?

ST Johnstone 1998 The most important since Lisboa 67 ????

Missed the Cologne game, self imposed ban at the time but was at the others.

Rapid at Parkhead was a cracker, lost a shoe in the old Jungle, and walked back to central station.

  6. As Regards big Fraser, goalies, like wine, usually get better with age, as in Given. I put the howler against Rennes down to Fraser not Cha.

  8. Moonbeams WD. \o/ Supporting Neil Lennon 100%. C’mon the hoops.

Agreed, look at McGregor, any shots from distance and it’s panic stations.

Not a thing rebounds off the big man. Support this guy and he will repay us…big time.

Well said. Best post in ages.

    @poolbhoy

Don’t know how you can possibly blame FF for goal in French except that you obviously don’t rate him and use anything against a rather good young keeper playing behind a dodgy defence.

  10. SFTB

Modesty forbids my hyperbole to know no bounds.

And by the way I avoid clichés like the plague.

It was a great game vs Rapid, but the Lucky Bunnet pointing out the inevitable after we saw the bottle ruined it for me. I was in the rangers end the night so got a good view. The dying swan and mr Grant getting our revenge which was never mentioned again! Hero! Bad pen though.

Ghent was better, same spot in rangers end

  12. SFTB

Do we not have an agreement to purchase FF at the end of the season for an

    an agreed fee?

If he is that good why not buy him now?

I just think this confirms the club in a mess scenario.

Btw I think goalkeeper is the least of our problems.

  13. petec @ 00:49

Your third line there, nail on head. I think this also the reason why our support are under attack, and our Club has always been. The establishment is as odious as it’s always been, and sadly those that work for it don’t have the insight to see it.

5/2 is surely a good price for any Celtic team in October :)) – who’s offering that??

  14. Wits Rangers new name going to be?

I cant believe its not Rangers? Snickers Fc? Govan Wanderers?

  15. Aldersyde avenue

Believe it is 2m pounds for frostier. Rather pick up holy goalie and get him fit

  16. Coneybhoy

    Wrong.

The question you asked was about a unique name for a team. They are all unique. There is only one Newcastle United, Accrington Stanley etc.

I prefer to focus my attentions on the park maybe that’s why there are so many delusional people on here who’s attention is focused elsewhere and they have taken their eye offf the ball

Anyway no need for me to sit up beside the GB as I am the bloody sponsor and finance provider for a 21 year old who sits up there

My seats a situated a wee bit further round where I don’t have to stand up every 5 minutes to show that I hate the Huns

As a closing comment tonight I have to admit that the performance of the GB in the last game of last season was sensational then I was able to watch them as there was nothing left to play for on the park

Nae smiley just a Hail Hail for you

  21. Despicable stuff from Speirs on twitter

    Weres your medals gone

Paulie Walnuts on RTC says it’s their 2010/11 league medals that have been seized from the SPL:

I am told by an absolutely reliable source that the medals thing is true. The DR had the story off the record (no pun intended) on Thursday, and have taken til now to stand it up from other sources. To understand it you have to know how arrestments work. All the court gives you is a warrant to arrest. This is the legal authority to freeze money. But you still have to find the money before you can freeze it. Most obviously an arrestment served on a bank account which is in overdraft catches nothing. So you have to find someone who owes the debtor money – in the phrase used in the old cases is he the debtor’s debtor? Obviously if there is a bank account in credit the bank owes the debtor money. You see them also used on trade creditors. So a builder’s merchant owed money by a builder for a pile of bricks will often arrest in the hands of the person for whom the builder is building an extension.

The assumption is that it is only money which can be arrested, but that is not correct. It is perfectly competent to arrest any form of moveable property. The old cases are full of examples of ship loads of grain and the like being arrested.

I gather that what happened is this. McIntyre got his warrant to arrest. He served in the hands of the bank and the bank told him they were not holding sufficient funds to satisfy the arrestment. So he looked around at other sources. One of those other sources was the SFA or SPL (I’m not sure which) who owed certain payments to Rangers. Having served an arrestment you get a statutory statement confirming if it has caught anything. Lawyers acting for whichever one of the SFA or SPL it was replied to McIntyre’s lawyers confimring that certain payments which were due to Ragers had been arrested, but also that the 2010/11 league championship medals which were contractually due to be delivered to Rangers had been caught by the arrestment as well.
