Many will live the rest fo their days only seeing Celtic win the league

963

I’ve said for a while that very few people realise the enormity of what happened in Scottish football in 2012. Some thought there would be a three-year blip before ‘normality’ was restored. Until very recently prevailing perception is that the current ‘abnormal’ circumstances may last 10 years. The old normal isn’t coming back.

When I talked about how few people realised the permanent consequences of Rangers liquidation on the Scottish football to my brother, he was of the view that the penny wouldn’t drop until Newco were in their second season in the Premiership.

They had all the excuses in the world when they were in the lower leagues, and a genuinely good excuse during their first season in the top flight, but when things don’t improve in the second season, a retrenchment will start.

By then it will be evident that the legendary gap below Celtic is huge, that Newco are effectively cannon fodder, that their fans are a cash cow topping up the coffers of every club they visit (including Celtic), but that no matter what they pay for their season tickets, Newco will always be underfunded.

Season ticket sales at current levels are not sustainable to watch a team fail so miserably. Even this miserable team is not sustainable with the current business model. The retrenchment will be real and painful. Questions are now being asked about how they get themselves out of this mess (16 years too late). There will be no answer.

They will win the odd game against Celtic, and pick up a cup occasionally (if Ross County can do it anyone can), but Newco will only win the league if Celtic get their big move. Many football fans in Scotland will live the rest of their lives only seeing Celtic win the league. Just think of that for a moment.  Buying your losers ticket each season will be a painful business.  Some will find other things to occupy themselves with.

The real question that should be asked, is how sustainable is a Rangers club that’s as much chance of winning the title as St Johnstone? The answer will be evident by this time next season.

The Hun scum on here have been outed re slaughtering the McCanns.

Scum of the earth, Nazi filth.

  4. Read the CQN article on Ronny Deila and admire him all the more. Let’s not forget that Aberdeen were close to us not because of what we were doing but because they were on an extraordinary run.

They have subsided to their level whilst we have sky rocketed under Brendan.

Yes, Brendan is getting much more from the same players. Playing them in their correct position and bringing in players for positions where we do not have players for that (I’m thinking Stuart Armstrong and Scott Sinclair)

Always thought that was Ronny’s biggest failing. Along with pandering to the in-crowd.

  5. Happy Birthday wee Paddy Roberts! 20 years young, amazing!

  7. Morning all

On the bus just about to head to McDiarmid Park. As always these days I wonder if the law of averages will catch up with us especially as we are playing a team that recently gave us the second hardest game of the domestic season.

Have to add that I am disappointed to read the comments re Madeline McCann following on from an article by John James. I suppose we all have our thoughts on of the great mysteries of our time but I have to say that airing them on a site dedicated to a football team does not sit well with me. People do have a right to air their views on here about pretty much anything but should on occasion choose not to air them. Just my opinion.

    Good Morning.

Here is to three points in Perth today and continued success for our team and their manager.

If you are a subscriber to today’s Sunday Herald (and I am not) check out Ian Fraser’s latest lengthy piece on the convictions of the HBOS 6 at Reading Crown Court last week and how directors at the bank both knew about and covered up the acts of the now convicted criminals.

There was a mindset at HBOS and it allowed the most disgraceful of selfish, corrupt and unlawful acts to be perpetrated under the guise of what was meant to be regulated, audited and professional banking practices.

The Reading 6 did not dream up this scam on their own and they were not the only people using and following similar practices. Others who followed similar lines of conduct, albeit with a somewhat different intent and goal, walked streets which are far closer to “Home” than Reading and the Home Counties.

Now that one lot has been convicted (albeit that to this day the bank has taken no action whatsoever in relation to the perpetrators or the victims) how long will it be before others come out of the woodwork and point out the banking practices which were deployed elsewhere by HBOS officials?

Judging by the fact that news of the convictions attracted more than 400 readers comments, “Not very long” may well be the answer.

Could it be that the practices of HBOS and their favoured poodles from as far back as the early naughties are about to come under the spotlight?

  10. Maybe it’s just me but does anyone else understand this from a tactical genius on Rangers media :-

A new manager who is experienced on a short term deal would change everything. He would actually make our full backs sit much more that way our centre halves (at least one always does) wouldn’t get pulled out to provide cover leaving a gap in the centre for the ball to go over the other centre halfs head (Hearts) or for it to be played into the corridor between our goalie and scampering (slowly) back centre half as yesterday.

  11. Twist’n’ turns

Lying in my bunk this morning a wierd thought crossed my mind.

If I could be one single item of clothing for today would I rather be Brendan,s quilted jacket or

    Nina Hussein,s pyjama bottoms?

Next I,m dozing off with this image of Nina lying in bed wearing Brendan’s quilted Jacket!

    Told you it was weird!

Looking forward to today’s live reports..thanks.

Yes, of course. Still won’t remove the need for someone to sit and act as adjudicator. You’ll have seen posters argue whether a post should be removed ? It’s childish, to be expected from Huns and trolls, but then it’s not always those.

  18. Timbhoy3 totally agree. I have very very early memories of my mum putting us to bed then sneaking out to meet my da who was already at the bar. That’s how it rolled. As we got older we looked forward to my Mum closing the door so we could start our own wee kids party. If the McCanns could take that night back they would. They live a tortured hell on earth. Don’t know what could make it any worse for them. I pity them.

  20. Early for a Troll.

My kids are 8 and 5 and I would never leave them in alone while I went out for a few, thats the last I will comment on it.

Seems all good things come to an end, The hat has run out of magic, long week ahead for the buns, lots of gnashing of teeth and finger pointing will go on now.

3 points today for us and the rest can go and hang,

Still Game tonight and Dinner with my lovely wife Mrs KLV,

    Enjoy yer day Bhoys,

  21. Looking at the fixtures up until our game against the Monkeys,if Aberdeen and Hearts put a decent run together,I can foresee wailing and gnashing of teeth over Mordor way.

Could be a lovely wee run up to March, which could be the best March ever. The Ashley court case,HMRC result,ST Patricks day,a severe gubbing of our impoverished city neighbours.

    Cant wait.

  22. This mocking of Sevco fails to recognise that, as yesterday’s comeback following the one at Murderwell shows, they are a club with a never-say-die attitude.

  23. On the leaving your kids thing. Some people have very short memories.Butlins,Pontins, and their like used this as one of their attractions.Leave your kids while you went out at night, and a “Chalet patrol”,a couple of spotty faced kids would patrol for the guests. If they heard your kid crying, they would put out a call.

Millions did it without a thought.

Tens of thousands do it now on holiday.

Whatever else happened,I have no idea, like everyone else on here,so I will pass no comment. But to use this to crucify the parents,in my opinion is a disgrace.

    Re Res12.

Persistence has taken the horse to the water , after that it’s all down to the horse.

To drink or not to drink, that is the question and I believe the decision will be informed by the weight of supporter opinion when all factors become clear post Court activity.

  25. Re the McCann family and the disgusting no marks that identify more with my slayers.

I think you can tell a lot about a person that shows no compassion for someone, anyone, that is visited by evil.

There go but for the grace of God go I.

You don’t need to be religious to identify with that statement.

You would only have to have an ounce of decency about you which would be extended to the MCCann family if even for the sake of compassion beyond that of reasonable doubt.

Anyway, the lily livered Hun quislings on here queuing up to slander the McCanns have fallen into a WASP trap. Hell mend them.
