Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

  1. Really glad it is a light work day today, plenty of time to read and watch and generally laugh out loud a lot at the events of yesterday.

God that was fantastic, like many others I was dreading having to play the scum 4 times next season and the fact that they got totally pumped by a pretty average Motherwell team makes it even funnier.

Feeling just magic today and over the moon that my oldest nephew has bought a season ticket for next season, with mine and my brothers renewals with our 2 youngest kids that makes 5 season tickets instead of 4 for next season. Every little helps.

Have mentioned already but if anyone is in Edinburgh on Saturday pop down to the Cowgate for a 1pm assemble for the 29th Annual James Connolly Commemoration organised by the James Connolly Society and the 1916 Societies. Guest Speakers and Live Music part included.

  2. Mr pastry,

    Agree re both domestic cups.

Still against “safe standing” in principle, especially when European footie requires all seated stadia.

Heard on Saturday that under 12 year olds will require an adult to be with them next season, so maybe that’s connected to standing areas.

Coldly credible, smart and matter–of-fact .

I’m above the silly stuff because I am serious.

My role is to be listened to. My opinion is gold.

Entertainment is for wimps. Celtic Quick News needs me to keep things real.

    Seriously.”

some numpty on RM is suggesting that Moshni’s refusal to shake hands, and his reaction could have been because Moshni may be a Shia muslim, who he claims feel it is unclean to touch non-Shia’s, and so Moshni objected to be being touched, but was just exercising his spiritual beliefs. Seriously deluded on RM.

Can you Bhoys who say the League Cup is rubbish but your up for the Scottish cup explain why ? As in the league cup you play exactly the same clubs as you do in the Scottish cup And I cant see why you see a difference in the two cups. H.H.

  6. Motherwell will now know how Celtic supporters feel after they have endured assualts from R******, the MSM kicks into action and now, if you look at the headlines, it appears that Motherwell were equally to blame and in fact it was all their fault and sanctions are coming their way – sad but predictable!
