Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

You must admit thats a cracker of a left hook even Henry Cooper wd be proud of!! 0) 0)

  2. On a night of celebration I was bothered to see Tom McLaughlin announce he was quitting the blog because of abuse. Tom is an honest poster and a committed Celt. He doesn’t subscribe to the constant paranoia and at times tries to look at things from the other side.

He is not a Liar and doesn’t deserve to be called one. The issue is whether McCall is a Liar.

McCall said he didn’t see the Moshni kicking & punching incident, he says he was heading up the tunnel, heard the crowd roar and turned & ran back. I think Tom contended that he may have been telling the truth, I agree with Tom. It is perfectly feasible, the original kick and punch took place in a couple of seconds, if someone had their back turned they would not have seen it. McCall the same as anyone else is entitled to a presumption of innocence.

If the likes of Tom are forced off the blog by keyboard hardmen, who just want to prove they are better Celts than anyone else by constantly taking a hard line, then it is a sad day for CQN.

Tom if you are lurking or scroll back, you are appreciated here, don’t let one or two guys force you out.

Billy moshni would have done a better job in goal than cammy bell

  4. Never bothered with the game yesterday, the result went as expected and predicted, SPFL team was always going to be too strong for a team from the championship

  5. To be fair McCall is right they were unlucky, a few deflections and a soft penalty. Apart from the 6 goals Sevco were in total charge over the two games, he deserves the job full time.

  6. Is it true that Cammy ‘ma baw’ Bellend gets married today?

Hopefully somebody will video the best man’s speech.

Unless he’s a rabid hun of course and will probably make no mention of yesterday’s events.

Cammy Bell the latest goalkeeping legned.

Stand aside Peter ‘the Girvan shoitehoose’ McCloy and Stewart ‘who put that goalpost there’ Kennedy!

Re the Tom McLaughlin post,I agreed with his opinion on it that it was perfectly feasible that McCall missed the initial fracas.

Plenty of people have stepped in to stop a brawl without knowing how it started.

Plenty of people have missed stuff under their nose by turning round to talk to someone else, and gone-WTF happened there?!

I’ll miss Tom. I have generally had a good though sometimes fractious relationship with him on here. And that’s the way it should be.

Friction and differences of opinion should not only be tolerated, they should be encouraged.

    Reading back yesterday evening and this morning I noticed there is a lot of comment on the fact that Sevco will need to spend at least another year in the 2nd tier of Scottish football;

they have no money and they owe a whole lot to Ashley

their Chairman is a convicted felon

    their manager is clueless

their players are really poor and mostly out of contract now

the club (clumpany?) will need to rebuild, again

they were completely outclassed by a really poor Motherwell side

once beat one of their players assaulted a fellow professional (sic)

their fans (hordes?} are revolting again

however nobody but nobody has yet mentioned this…….

Paul Murray has a fabulous head of hair, there I said it!

I was surprised that they managed to overcome 2 teams from the championship who are also better than them.

  11. The Clumpany…

That ‘steam’ having been provided through the burning of tens of millions of pounds.

    Keeping ‘The Journey’ going

Money that only Celtic could dream of spending, and which Sevco has had to keep topping up through a share offer and a succession of loans which have seen most of their assets encumbered.

I dont know what Cammy Bell was thinking but have to assume he was caught in two minds wither to catch the ball or punch it and ended up punching it into his own net.Goalkeeping is an unforgiving art as unlike other positions the keepers mistakes are usually punished by the loss of a goal it doesnt make him a bad keeper but just shows he is human and can make mistakes the same as the rest of us. There was a pic from the game posted on twitter showing McCall in the middle of it as Moshy let the left hook fly.

Now perhaps this was a cunning photoshop done to undermine McCall or just maybe he was telling a few porkies and has now been found out.

  16. My friends in Celtic,

Surely the big game yesterday was Celtic Ladies winning 3-0 in Edinburgh. Another happy topic to contemplate as we officially enter summer in th UK.

Racist and sectarian Scotland doesn’t look like it is in mourning today. So much for all tbe guff about refs etc.

Tiny tim mentioned that our forthcoming signing has injury history. Can’t find anything about it though. Tiny, is he injury prone?

  18. I note Celtic are sending out new ST’s for this upcoming season.

I was under the impression that we were to use our existing ones.

  19. Will the ‘through and throughs’ step up to the mark and ensure that CP is never half-empty during the coming season?

Will the go-ahead for safe-standing at CP be again kicked ‘into the long grass simply because the powers that be are/were waiting on the Ibrox-dwellers in order to perpetuate the stupid ‘even up’ balance?

Will Celti. (Ronny) take the bold and unprecedented step of announcing that in the coming season, the cup competitions will be predominantly for our youth and fringe and that chasing the treble is counter-productive to our main aims – i.e. winning the title and CL qualification.

Will the ‘Mistra Know It All’ clique that thinks only their point of view matters and who would silence all others who dare to ‘cross’ them, please stop using these tactics, which of course are straight out of the SNP handbook and reminiscent of the clown who calls himself ‘Wings over Scotland’?

  20. gdt,

Nah, they had beaten both before, they played at the same level for a year, I expected the step up in strength and even a little quality would be too big a gap.

    Alfie,

Decent point about focusing on the league (not that we have to focus much these days) and the CL. The league cup is crap. However, I disagree with you about the SC.

Celticrollercoaster. It is possible McCall was in the tunnel when the first punch was thrown and hearing the roar from the crowd rushed back to see what was going on.Then seeing the rammy with one of his own players in the middle of it he joined in to try and break it up.I have no reason to believe he was lying when he said he did not see the kick or the punch. H.H.
