Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

Just reading on You Tube (Yep.I know) that what kicked off the unpleasantness(hee hee ) was that Mohsni had refused to shake Erwin`s hand.

Ref the less than accurate statement from McCall…

The issue for me is that his statement AND the BBC story appeared to coincide in terms of his account of what he claimed to have seen and therefore on what precisely COULD speak about.

The impression was very, very clear. Reading that account and in particular his statement, it would have been reasonable for the reader to presume that he was nowhere near the situation when it all kicked off.

The reality is that he was there, and whatever he saw and claimed not to have seen was a convenience to avoid being drawn into any comment on what his man did. He was there and he saw – despite the dishonest intent of his statement.

The pictures (inadvertently?) posted with words tell a different story. McCall was close enough to know more than his statement implied that he knew.

He gets cut no slack from me on any of his duplicitous gibberish.

He then compounds his deliberate obfuscation by saying that the guy has no future at ayebrokes next season anyway, so he was not defending his own players. Mohsni was expendable for McCall but he still had to fudge so as not to impugn his employer.

He was trying to dance round the truth and the pictures show that he and the media knew that he was being less than honest.

Hope you are well on this fine day.

Can’t agree more about the fairness the referees have shown – in fact, it was never an issue throughout the playoffs.

Perhaps the SFA have taken them as far as they can, being mindful of the spotlight being shone on footballing authorities at the moment?

    Morning moonhowlers.

Haven’t fully read back but amongst the mirth generated by Sundays events I happened across this (to me) interesting little factlet.

While checking my wee local teams record against Sevco, I found the following link to none other than FF

    http://www.followfollow.com/head_to_head/rangers/vs/elgin_city/index.shtml

which lists the 5 meetings in season 2012/13 and is subtitled “A complete record of competitive matches played between the two teams.” Their wording, not mine.

Hmmmmmm, said I. I’m sure I remember at least one meeting in the SC in the days when I had hair.

Lo and behold, a cursory examination of a brief history of Elgin City unearthed the following snippet:

“The following season, wins over Stenhousemuir, Burntisland and Caledonian clinched a home tie against Kilmarnock, the 10,500 attendance disappointed after a 4-1 defeat. Wins over Vale of Leithen, Forfar and Stirling Albion in the 1976-77 tourney earned City a third visit to Ibrox, with Rangers this time running out 3-0 victors in front of a poor 18,000 crowd.”

So, even FF admits they are a newco.

    Now to read back

Thanks for the c & p of the Herald article.

I didn’t get to watch that game or indeed the aftermath or should that be after-match.

Player melee, punches, kicks, dragging away as well as walking away….jeez.

Then round three up the tunnel with 3 sent off..so that means that the officials could only name three of the many involved up the tunnel.

Round four was the pitch invasion, the stand off, the polis on the geegees…

Round four and a half was the media interviews…

Round five was an hour after this when Mohsni ran off the sevco team bus to banjo Lee Erwin again….

With flares on the pitch when Bell’s blooper went down…you have to ask the big question…

Has there been a Scottish Football game that has had so much and as much all go wrong…ever…

This was not even one of those very rare animals these days…an O** F*** match.

    All on live TV…

Now if Celtic had been involved ..or god forbid Neil Lennon was in the dugout.. then we know the pictures in the SMSM would have been an apparently snarling Celtic manager and all the politicians would have been at church or at Tesco and missed it all.

On the field, in the tunnel, in the carpark, in the stands, everywhere and anywhere actually…

What a day to be a Celtic fan…a ringside seat for how the blue hordes want things to be in their new world order.

The wonderful thing is that they STILL don’t get it.

The hubris that liquidated a former club is just below the surface with all of them. Entitlement, arrogance, anger, supremacism, bitterness, denial, victimhood, narcissism…all there in spades.

The GASL has all the credibility and integrity of Moonbeams Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green combined – but he is the savior.

Great result for Motherwell yesterday. Of course The Rangers coming up would have been little threat to the top half of the Premiership.

But the Circus! can you imagine what Ronny would have to deal with week in week out while he’s implementing his master plan.
