Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

  1. Good morning CQN,

Well, wasn’t yesterday pleasant? I went for a nice Sunday roast, then checked my phone at about 5pm and laughed my head off when I read the texts from a Motherwell supporting pal. I then celebrated by making a batch of Lincolnshire sausages for a BBQ next weekend. A marvellous Sunday!

    An absolute disgrace to football.

Im sure sevco will give us plenty of hilarity in the seasons to come.

Watch the Mohsni disgrace get buried by the laptop loyal around midweek. Tonev was made out a serial killer because of the club he played for. Most of our gutter football media, Jackson, Traynor, Waddell, Tanner etc… we feel your pain.

Have Motherwell appealed their red cards yet? I think they should, especially Erwin.

Why can a long standing poster not be treated with respect by certain other .CQN’ers, an opinion is exactly that. Is that not the fundamental reason for having a blog, to stimulate debate?

We are told many times there is no clique on here. This maybe true but sometimes the evidence dispels that statement.

Despite all the smsm hype, we now know the truth of the matter, that the sevco are shoite and their financial situation is, to put it mildly, precarious…..and ming will use the SB money ONLY moving forward, having no intention to put good money after bad (watch this space)

Justice was served yesterday, when re peepul were humbled by the steel men ( and 3 ex-Celts)

Make no mistake about it, this is a monumental (pardon the phun) blow to them, and thank goodness our Celtic Board steered well clear of it all…….I would suggest our Board knew how this was all going to eventually pan out……..onward and upward for the Famous Glasgow. Celtic…….I am now looking forward to (the sport) next season, bereft of corruption (didn’t the mib’s do well recently)
