Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

Sky pics show Lee Erwin offer his hand to Mohsni as they leave the pitch and what did he say to him……was he baiting him….why not walk alongside the guy and offer your hand…..why push him from behind….cowardly in fact…..one thing for sure he might not be great at footie but he sure can deliver a good upper cut….Lee Erwin picked on the wrong guy and deserved his bloody nose.

I thought Erwin’s push was unnecessary and overly aggressive – no need considering they’d just won 6-1 over the two legs. That said, the reaction from Moshni was clearly over the top too/ I expect the SFA will issue a severe punishment – it’s an easy one for them since he’s no longer a hun player.

Hopefully – it would be nice to see them exposed but I’m not holding my breath. Their capacity for dishonesty and underhand dealings cannot be underestimated.

10:21 on 1 June, 2015Re the incident at the end of the game at Fir Park yesterday; what if Mohsni reacted that way because he says racist comments were made to him?

A late and desperate defence ,but the SFA will accept in mitigation

  7. Did anyone see McCann on Sky Sports News? My god that lad is in a bad place right now. He was spouting one load of p**h, Sevco will walk it next year with a new manager and they now have a blank canvas to work with as they release 12 players to free up huge wages. Blank Canvas you say Neil??? Ha ha ha maybe 3-4 year ago they might have stood a chance but the old regime, the very ones who took their old club to the grave are back in positions of power, sorry but how will this end any differently? I look forward to Sevco realising the very same end as their old deed club. This is going to be fun, they will just meander through mediocrity for the foreseeable future and I for one am going to enjoy every minute of it. Stupid Stupid Huns. HH

  8. Erwin’s push was unnecessary and will allow the waters of the situation to be muddied, sadly and probably justifiably.

Strange how a player can become an ex player overnight, theres nothing to see move on he’s not our player anyway. I thought most contracts ran till 30th June?

Maybe it’s wishful thinking on their part, the manager is also immediately discredited in the entire incident, by needlessly lying as to his whereabouts, it would seem, I don’t think he got back up the tunnel that quickly.

    Silly billy boys.

The last time they had a blank canvas they had a £22m paint pot. This time they have a King in exile, 3 bears, £8m in loans to be repaid, onerous contracts where £ leave every month to south asia, a 7 years rolling deal with the monster mash covering all merchandise and advertising, a lower tier charge for season books, a stadium that is faunty (bits), Lee McCulloch and the Hibees as competition.

I’m expecting a modernistic canvass full of dark colours reminiscent of a 3 year old nursery effort. It could start a trend…no-banksy street art…

  15. Good Morning

    Excited by this transfer news!

As for our less fortunate ‘friends’ across the city… Oh Dear!

I am glad to hear the “we aren’t dependent on Sevco” noises coming from the club. It would be good if they could be a bit more proactive in getting that message out there to the media. I am sick of hearing how we all ‘need’ a strong Sevco in the top flight.

Fair play to Motherwell on getting two cracking results when the chips were down.

Sevco were utterly awful, and you would hope the play-off humiliation might give them, the SFA/SPFL and the media a reality check.

    Then again…

If anyone is interested, here are a couple of pieces about what yesterday’s match means for Sevco and the wider game.

Can they have 6 starts on their strip next season to remember the dignity/shame (delete as appropriate)

  17. I heard Stephen McManus use the word ‘relief’ at the end of yesterday’s game. Of course, his relief was because his team will be playing in the top flight of Scottish football again after their win over RIFC.

I too felt relief but only because the result guarantees another year where the animals from Ibrox won’t darken our door, on league duty anyway.

I understand the elation that many felt but for me it’s simply a feeling of tremendous relief.

Ps it also gives Celtic another year to sort out this ‘Club 12’ nonsense. Set the price for season tickets and leave it at that regardless of who we’re playing.
