Money, sustainability and high stakes

259

Sustainable football success, as we often discuss, is all about the money.  In that respect, Newco’s Europa League run will be a significant benefit to them.  Winning the tournament, which surely is a greater prospect than them reaching the final was as recently as a month ago, would bring multi-year sustainability to a club which has been a financial basket case for its entire existence.

Even if they fall at the final hurdle, they are likely to have earned £10m more from Europe than last season, there will be associated commercial benefits and crucially, the perceived value of a raft of players out of contract next summer is likely to have doubled.  They will sell at a significant premium.

This season will see Newco break even for the first time.  The sale of Patterson to Everton earned £9m, with compensation from Aston Villa for their management team bringing in a further £4.5m.  Turnover, which excludes money from Everton and Villa, is likely to reach £75m, a lot of money for a young club.  Any prospect of Financial Fair Play consequences has disappeared.

To give you an insight into how far ahead Celtic are commercially, that £75m may not be enough to make Newco the highest earning club in Glasgow (transfer fees Celtic received for Edouard, Ajer, etc. are also excluded from this calculation).  Next season, Celtic will turnover in excess of £100m, Newco still have work to do to come within £30m of that total.

With the consistent rise in Scotland’s Uefa coefficient, we are likely to see several years where our champions gain automatic entry to the Champions League group stage, whereas the runners up endure two rounds of the treacherous non-champions qualification route.  Only two group stage slots are available this way.  The stakes could scarcely be higher.

But first, winning the league, qualification for the Champions League with all its benefits lies ahead for Celtic.  We battered Hearts in the League and League Cup at Celtic Park this season but won by the slenderest margin on both occasions.  Hearts will not make it easy tomorrow.  They started the campaign by beating Celtic and feel aggrieved from the subsequent encounters.

Beat Hearts, win the league at Tannadice, celebrate with the trophy and 60,000 friends against Motherwell and remind the world: Glasgow’s green and white!  You and I will make sure it remains this way.

Ticket allocation for both finals is scandalous. Feck the fans. It’s corruption, nothing less.

Imagine telling the huns and the scousers, ‘please don’t travel if you don’t have a ticket’…

I hope Ange and Dermot D celebrated with a skinful of stout, do Ausies drink porter?

I really hope they behave themselves in Seville. It’s too beautiful a city to suffer Manchesterisation by the hun hoardes. My worry is the immature onion bears on the bevvy surrounded by a lot of religious imagery. Hopefully, for once, they can be controlled to an extent by the older, more respectful bears. Though I don’t hold out much hope.

It could end up like Scotland where a nationalist party dominate but the majority don’t want constitutional change.

Though the important difference is that in Ireland people in the north know, roughly, what they’d be joining up to (which seems to be the problem, particularly over health care provision) whereas in Scotland it’s a blank canvas for which all sorts of nonsensical bullshit can be claimed (Westminster will pay the State Pension being a recent example).

  10. Scotland Local Elections

    1223 seats contested

    454 SNP 37%

    583 UK PARTIES 48%

    152 INDEPENDENTS 12%

    34 GREENS 3%

If we add the ‘sneaky’ GREENS to the SNP total and split the independent councilors 50/50 between the SNP and UK Parties, we arrive at the following result:

    SNP & GREENS + 76 = 564 (46%)

    UK PARTIES + 76 = 659 (54%)

No difference to 2014. This is a real poll, not an opinion poll.

Sturgeon said she would resign if/when she lost another Ref – is it any wonder she prevaricates to the point of no return?

Of course if there was another referendum, Scots in the rest of the UK would almost certainly have a vote – that should make the final outcome 65% No/35% YES as the best the Nats could hope for – independence is dead – the oil ship has sailed – the Nats know it!!!!

Rangers – and they ARE Rangers.

Celtic supporters purchasing £49 OLDFIRM tickets in 2016 for our visit to Ibrox in December 2016, were 7,000 Celtic season ticket holders EACH paid the 2012 OLDFIRM ticket price of £49, a price that was retained and agreed upon by Celtic ie Celtic PLC view Rangers 2012/2016 as being the same club, which stands to reason, in a PLC mind.

SAME CLUB = SAME PRICE = CELTIC FANS SOULED THEIR SOULS for £49.

Not only did these GOOD DAY OOT merchants sell their souls they trashed Celtic FC’s integrity.

    Probably forever.

It’ll be for as long as Celtic season ticket holders continue to financially back££££ a Celtic executive who stubbornly, sleekitly, conceitedly, set up Celtic supporters with underhand retention of OLDFIRM ticket prices on Rangers return in 2016 in an effort to REFUSE to call out the Ibrox fraud, they just sneakily agreed to an under the table sly move.

But but but but, its NOT Celtic PLC’s fault that Celtic season ticket holders allowed themselves to be ‘mugged’ by a ticket trap in 2016.

That’s the fault of Celtic supporters/customers.

In 2016 when seeing the price of OLDFIRM tickets had been retained since 2012 ie saying on a ticket that Rangers DIDN’T die, that Rangers/Sevco are priced as the SAME CLUB, obviously with Celtic PLC approval, what was the first thought that entered any Celtic season ticket holders head when they saw that price, in effect a ticket trap APPROVED by Celtic PLC??

    Did Celtic supporters think….

    1. Yes I’ve got a ticket let’s get into these same club liars??

    2. Yes Brendan will sort these animals out??

    3. Yes I need to text my mates and brag about my ticket??

    4. My God – its the same price for Sevco as it was for Rangers, £49, ach nobody will bother once we skelp the Magic Hat’s huns, COYBIG, TAL, etc, etc??

    5. Is there even ONE single season ticket holder with a backbone who realised that these tickets, and the £49 price, which in itself, should’ve sent alarm bells ringing, just one single supporter who kept their integrity intact and refused to be used as a pawn to help Celtic PLC attempts to, cover up, David Murray’s fraud campaign, 99.9999% of which saw innocent Celtic season ticket holders being defrauded, and this being covered up by Celtic PLC collusion??

Is there a single Celtic supporter who now realises that they’ve been HAD by Celtic PLC??

Is there nobody left standing who has a shred of integrity about them and has refused to be taken for a mug by these fraudsters??

Because that’s what Celtic PLC are – Fraudsters.

Paying £49 for a ticket that by its very price says that Celtic PLC agree with the narrative that there is NO Sevco, only Rangers, that’s why tickets stayed the same.

The Celtic PLC agreeing to £49 for an OLDFIRM ticket in 2016 was bad enough.

But but but but, when Celtic season ticket holders purchased these tickets in 2016 and assembled themselves into the Broomloan Rd Stand at Ibrox and started singing….

    “YOU’RE NOT RANGERS ANYMORE….”

its in that exact moment of stupifying, idiocy, from which Celtic fc CANNOT MOVE ON FROM, stuck in a moment describes it exactly and that the integrity of supporters of Celtic fc is trapped inside a ticket trap, carefully constructed, or, crafted, more like by Celtic PLC, it was these season ticket holders who drove Celtic’s integrity into a ditch, by falling for a sleekit trap, trick, etc, and only Celtic season ticket holders can reverse Celtic fc OUT of that integrity-less, shifty deal filled ditch.

The present PLC board are the last folk who will bring integrity back to Celtic fc, apart from putting their hands up, admitting their huge part in the collusion to cheat Celtic supporters at the behest of keeping Rangers fc alive, and the OLDFIRM fixture alive, and then resigning as 100% of Celtic executive are guilty!!!

The PLC won’t admit to their collusion and resign.

The PLC will keep the same club lie going.

Will Celtic season ticket holders continue to financially back££££ the PLC in their pursuit of retaining the same club lie, and preserving the OLDFIRM fixture??

The club will remain lame and soulless without integrity.

The last time that anyone on Celtic PLC payroll showed any balls to fight for their integrity was when NFL refused to bow to the ‘honest mistakes’ campaign and forced the MIBs to jump out their prams and go on strike, then the PLC reigned NFL in and normal collusion was resumed.

But but but but, the twisted smart arsed yins will say “Where do we get the money to buy out DD’s shares?”

You don’t buy out billionaires££££ you starve them out till the share price hits zero the DD and the rest will be worth zero and will ALL have to resign.

Get shares to hell out of Celtic.

Shares, all seats, all tickets, are Tory, capitalist, contraptions, which shouldn’t be near Celtic fc.

The problem then is – who would lead the club??

Where do we get a director who actually directs??

Well imho, the last place to look for leaders is amongst the Celtic supporters base.

How can anybody who has propped up 10 years of OLDFIRM collusion from Celtic PLC be trusted??

The fan base has allowed itself to be viewed as accomplices in this decade10 years long of OLDFIRM corruption.

Its a b****** of a mess, but as I have already said only Celtic supporters can either compound their felony of falling for Celtic PLC’s sneaky OLDFIRM ticket trap in 2016 by pretending that this is NOT their doing, which would merely serve to add another layer to the corruption.

    Or.

Celtic supporters can get over themselves and admit that there is NO good guy in this OLDFIRM movie, SACK THE PLC, and reverse Celtic fc’s integrity out of that 2016 ticket trap ditch and reform the structures of the club and totally, 100% reverse OUT of that ditch, and move Celtic fc onto a cleaner page in its history.

My guess is that Celtic supporters are equally incapable of putting their hands up and owning THEIR mistakes, spineless, just like the PLC, and Celtic will become OFFICIALLY without question, the green half of the OLDFIRM, and as we surely would agree that there is not a shred of integrity to found within any Celtic supporters who knowingly back the OLDFIRM, like Celtic season ticket holders have been OFFICIALLY doing since 2016 and the purchase of the £49 ticket of collusion.

Where does the Super Cup Final get played??

Methinks that some of the angst on here about the Huns easily reaching the Europa Final is due to the following:

    1. They appear likely to outdo us in Seville.

    2. If so they will play Liverpool or Real Madrid in the Supercup, a nice wee earner.

    3. They will be in Pot 1 in the Champions league with all the status that it entails.

    4. They will have vastly increased name recognition, which will be attractive to sponsors.

    5. They will spend far less conservatively than we will to meet the dual challenges of Europe and the SPL next season.

    6. Their debt will disappear.

    7. Their ambitions will expand. Didn’t they invite Real Madrid to a friendly pre-season last year?

From their point of view, that is the level of team they think equates to their status.

None of the above is good news for us.

I often have a little difficulty following MAD MITCH, but I think his central tenet is correct. For me, Lawwell, Bankier et al have exhibited zero ambition to do well in Europe. Many times, we failed to bring in adequate players prior to qualifying rounds, and Bankier did have that throwaway line at a recent AGM, “ we have had a right few pastings in Europe.” What kind if attitude is that? SETTING FREE THE BEARS is of course correct that we are not going to go far, and almost certainly not out the Group, but why not give it a go? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

A 7:00 AM kick off over for the Hertz game the morn’s morn, so an early rise for me to travel to Virginia to see it.

Apps like ESPN Plus, Paramount Plus, Fubo, and Mexican Channels like Univision and Telemundo show an extraordinary range of fitba, but their choices often intrigue me. Looked up the schedule for Paramount, and would you credit it? – on at 2:45 is ICT vs the Maryhill Magyars! Sitting chilling watching it now, enjoying Michael Stewart’s commentary.
