Steven Mouyokolo’s last two permanent contracts were for clubs playing Premier League football in England but after joining Hull City as a 22-year-old and making 21 appearances in their relegation season, his move to Wolves bombed amid a multitude of injuries. The player has made four appearances for Wolves and four for Sochaux in the last three years.
He no longer has the profile which would be considered in the English Premier League; which is why he’s pitched up in Scotland. If his knee passes a medical this week, he’ll become the latest 6’3” defender on the Celtic books, competition for Kelvin, Virgil, Charlie, Efe and the rest.
Competition is good but Steven’s chances of edging out the competition to become a first team regular must be considered slight with his injury record, whether he passes the medical or not. It’s more likely he’ll follow the path of Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe, although Champions League football and a Cup Final winner is not a bad return.

The white Captain Dobey is a great turn – that’s a formidable double act he has with Jabba.

If the usual suspects are hollering “Reds under the bed”,etc, you can be sure perception is all they are after.
The facts will not matter to them.
It also suggests the Tories are in trouble with less than two years to an election.
But that will largely be irrelevant if Scotland gains independence,as I really doubt England will ever vote Labour in.
Which is why the Tory press down here are so keen to see the back of us.
A ‘Struth’: an exceedingly bitter cocktail which harks back to a byegone era. An era that has gone. A hideous orange colour, which taste just as bad as it looks. Still popular during the month of July in certain parts of Scotland and the north of Ireland.

Apparently Cardiff offered a 10% sell-on clause to us,as that would be likely to be worth another £1m to us.
So they confidently expect him to be a £20m player, even in a team battling relegation…..

Sunday mornings are mobbed, serious In crowd, good guys but in the know, boys club within a club.
Having a Timmy sounding name doesn’t help as Pro and main committee men are from the dark side.
However a couple of us kept them in their place. Do you how difficult it is to get emerald green Galvin Greens?
Sunday afternoons are much more quiet.
Get my email from Paul67 and I can give you the lowdown but as I say no problems on a Sunday pm unless there is a medal on.

Sorry to correct you again, but a Struth makes you feel as though you have been battered over the napper wi a blunt instrument and been dragged in on the tide.
A Murray on the other hand is where you loudly order trebles all round then bail out, leaving some poor clown to pick up the tab.

Mouyokolo has more going for him than Rogne………why else would we let one go and sign the other?
If his knee holds good he may yet fulfil the promise and we could have a serious CB for free.
We have the formula in place and may yet assemble a squad to propel us beyond the the CL last 16.
I still believe John Kennedy would have become the most influential CB we had since Billy McNeil. Only Paul Elliot has been of the same calibre since then.

cant disagree will any of your points
shame for kennedy, he looked to be the real deal
rogne never convinced me he would turn into the quality centre back we need, what is obvious from our most recent recruiting is that NFL is still looking for the right, players/ partnership for his backline.
would not be surprised to see efa being sold this summer

I believe that Labour have only once relied on their Scottish MPs to secure victory in a General Election.
If Scotland becomes independent I will have to leave the country.
Can you imagine the legislation that would be introduced?
Unthinkable!!

Efe is a ready made replacement for Victor in midfield.
No way Efe will be sold. He is versatile too and can play at the back in a number of roles.
Efe will come good. He had a bad spell but the Bhoy is a player.

Proudbhoy-cannot see the fee being increased if agreed with another club, far too cheap and can only guess it was a clause in his contract.

I think if it had of been a clause celtic would have mentioned this. Always saves the club face when they say we had no option to sell due to clause being activated.
Only bad thing with selling to big club we might not get big sell on fee.
Hopefully vic and hooper sorted asap

so do celtic hence the reason we want 12 million +, he wants to move on and we’re willing to let him go, knowing he’ll be sold further down the line for more than we get. celtic are doing the right thing here

Hope you are right, dont want to see him move on yet but in some games he was clueless. Esp when played in midfield.
I think right back or centre half would be his best position. Or right hand side of 3 man defence.
Noticed a couple of personal Doubles yesterday, so congrats to all.

you might well be right, but given the recent signing i certainly dont think he’ll be at the heart of our defence next season. p.s. i like the big mhan

You need to judge the Bhoy over a number of games in a position. he was excellent at CB for a while but faded after a long hard season. he will have learned from that. He is a player and has won African Nations Cup and played in the CL.
Efe will be a big player for Celtic. He needs time and the fans support.

I think Victor will stay.
He needs to toe that agent’s arse though.

Due to the fact that the Labour landslide in Scotland didn’t start to kick in till the 60s,you may well be there or thereabouts.
There were probably 30 or more Tory MPs around that time in Scotland.
Personally,I would doubt they won either of the 74 elections in England.
But since then, the Tory vote in Scotland has evaporated,so no seats are lost when Scotland goes.
However, since the prospect of a Nationalist Government in an independent Scotland apalls you as much as it apalls me,why don’t you join me in this Southern Socialist Paradise full of Labour-voting Utopians?

Livibhoy,
I think you are right about Efe coming good…..but if he does it will be as a centre back!!
I saw him play in midfield towards the end of the season and he was hopeless!!
I completely agree with the clubs selling for the right price philosophy and £12m is a decent fee for Wanyama.
If he does go I would be really really disappointed if we don’t buy a replacement!! The club have probably known for most of the season that he was going to be sold….hopefully the scouts have found a replacement
I hope that when Wanyama and Hooper leave we don’t automatically think we need to spend a fortune on replacements.
I would like the legacy of the Huns death being more of our own young players making it.
I know that CL qualification is important but we shouldn’t always buy a replacement for anyone who leaves.
I don’t care where Wanyama, Hooper or anyone else go as long as we get the bet deal possible.
BMCUW @ 11 49 .
I think that a Yes vote might produce a Tory resurgence in Scotland .
I won’t be voting but if I was ,I’d vote No . .
I keep in touch with 19 people who are resident in Scotland . A mixed bag of people -all state they will be voting ——NO
niallo83
I think brining in two centre backs points to us not looking at Efe in that area. I may be wrong. Our defence has plenty options except maybe at LB unless the new Bhoy can play there.
We are a bit light up front for me and would liked to have seen a winger/striker come in with real pace. I know Watt has pace but if Hooper goes I would like to see someone with a bit of pedigree. Stokes has little pace and samaras although pacey is not an out and out goalscorer. Big Balde may be the answer but I would like another option up there. We may start the season without our most prolific goal scorer and that concerns me a bit.
Trust the manager to get it done tho and ensure we are ready. I wish the Wanyama saga would just end to be honest. I wants to go. Club are happy to let him go for the right price and sell on arrangememt. Get it done so we can move on. We have important games coming.

South of Tunis, maybe Pirlo can take lessons from the “great” minty moonbeams on how to make wine from sour grapes. He can regale Pirlo of his for every £5 stories and how he put one of the world’s (tongue in cheek) greatest institutions to the wall.

Were I still resident it would be a resounding NO. As it was in the referendum on devolution.
But I can only speak for myself. My friends back home are largely in favour of YES.
Mind,I still reckon the collective IQ of Kilwinning dropped by 50% when I left,so that would prove my point!
BMCUW @ 12 04 .
Genuinely curious ——-
What do your ” friends back home ” think they’ll get from an ” Independent Scotland “?
The half year financial results released in January showed a £15m profit. This will probably have fallen to £10m by the end of June (as we don’t take in as much money in the second half of the season).
If we sell Wanyama for £12m that will make £22m in the bank. In my opinion half of this should be reinvested in the team and half should go to the club for improvements (wifi, season ticket discounts, celtic triangle etc.).
If we do get £11m for the team we have already spent £4.5m of it on Rogic, Van Diyk and Balde. That leaves £6.5m for a replacement defensive midfielder and a left winger/ creative midfielder.
I really hope Hooper stays though. Would be hard losing both him and Wanyama in the same season. Also the figures being quoted for Hooper (£4m-£5m) are terrible!!

‘BMCUW @ 11 49 .

I’m firmly of the view that the type of Scots who voted Tory now vote SNP.
That’s why most of the SNP strongholds (ie the seats they hold at Westminster) used to be Tory strongholds.
And they’re the sort of people Salmond was talking about with his ‘we didn’t mind the economic side so much’ judgement of Thatcher.
SOUTH OF TUNIS
Sadly, many of my friends are easily led. And influenced by things which you and I would consider not to be part of the debate.
I have spoken about this to a number of people over the last twenty years or so. As they see themselves being marginalised and no longer in the positions of power they once were-in other words, equality in the workplace, education, forces, police, etc which are taken for granted elsewhere in civilised society-so they see Scotland being run the way they think it should. If it were only independent.
And don’t think they are howling at the moon on this either. Think of the SFA.
UEFA did not step in,I doubt the EU would either.
