New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

Hamiltontim – very sorry to hear your news mate. Having lost my old man in February, I can appreciate how you’re feeling right now.

One of the things that gave me a lift was reading the many messages of sympathy and good wishes posted on this fine blog.

When you feel like posting again, remember you’ve got many good friends in Celtic on here.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

It’s about the only thing likeable about the Tynecastle outfit.

  9. The real question is what time is the red card for a Hearts player and the penalty for Rangers?

  10. DonegalBhoy67 – don’t know if Jelavic is injured it not but when I jokingly posted No pay. No play on FF I got barred immediately. Touchy lot over there.

  11. Callum Murray referee at swinecastle

McCulloch green light for reckless tackles made in a Celtic shirt would result in a red card

Of course Murray isn’t in fear of Rankers players pushing him around

It was the Huns singing that song

How any decent minded individual could follow such a club defies belief

  14. With Paulo’s track record of working with rockets, I think he could be a reasonable replacement when Alisdhhhhhhair takes a tumble on the ole marble…..

  15. Trying to catch glimpses of the hun support to see if the L and Bs finest are in mass attendance filming the orcs.

15 mins left to try and find a cure for my dodgy belly before the match, if not i,m on the voddy on the bus.

Reference missing statistics on Section 74 offences:

Had an interesting wee chat last night with a … let’s say someone who is professionally acquainted with the processes and management procedures of the Scottish Criminal Justice System.

Many will recall that the Scottish Government announced that an analysis of S74 offences for the period April 2010-March 2011 would be carried out and published in November coming. Regrettably, despite numerous FoI requests stretching back a number of years, a longer study using data going back to 2003 would not be possible because Crown Office destroys such files after 2 years. Quel dommage said the Government. Quelle surprise said the watching public.

Anyway, up and down of it is that every single conviction in a Scottish Court is recorded by the Scottish Criminal Records Office, now managed by the Scottish Police Services Authority’s Criminal History System. This includes all material information on a given case from original Police report to Court disposal.

The CHS is linked to all Government functions that can contribute or might require information, including COPFS, the various Police Forces, the Court Service and various reporting agencies, through an IT system called the Integrated Scottish Criminal Justice Information System.

This multi-party database is searchable using umpteen indices as one might expect of such an integrated data storage and management system. If you want to know the annual income for a convicted criminal, it’s there. You want to know the family background? Known acquaintances? Employment history? Yip, it’s all there. Just Ask, so to speak.

Naturally, it also allows for searches that support crime data analysis. How many charges of Rape were brought last year? How many convictions were secured? Aggravating circumstances? DNA? Yip, it’s all there. Just Ask.

As many suspected, the data has not been lost. The Crown Office files might well have been disposed of, but the data is all there on the CHS database. It simply hasn’t been analysed, or else if it has, the analysis is locked away.

Awesome defender Whittaker gets a deserved yellow, leaving him wide open to a second as he’s up against wee Templeton. Very worthy of his bumper new pay deal….

I see the new Wayne Rooney is on the Hun bench, what a player he is!
