Newco choose innuendo instead of action

904

Newco did not disappoint with last night’s statement, it was as incoherent, angry and contradictory as you would expect.  They claim:

“We are extremely concerned that member clubs were not provided with enough information, or time, to allow them to make fully informed decisions”.

They were allowed 28 days to ask for as much information as they wanted before voting!  Newco and most others were able to respond within two days – by choice.

“We are aware several club directors claimed they were being bullied”.

Several people we are not naming were bullied by someone we are not naming.  This is like the evidence of wrongdoing they say they have but would rather not show anyone.  To quote their founding manager, “Who are these people?”

They want to sound hard but have chosen to shut up instead of revealing anything – nice one.

“Addressing the [financial hardship of many of our clubs]was one of our primary objectives and the resolution we presented could and should have been progressed”.

“The SPFL chose to obstruct our resolution”.

“The fact that this solution was not afforded sufficient consideration defies belief”.

An independent QC was employed to examine their resolution and found it was not competent and could not be put to members.  They claim to want independent oversight but completely ignore independent oversight has happened.

“There is precedent within Scottish football that a league must not be compromised by changing the rules during the course of the competition.”

Again, a claim shrouded in innuendo, this time an unexplained precedent.  If I was a betting man, I would say they forgot the league schedule was extended in 2008 to accommodate Oldco (I regularly hear of this amnesia), and are referring to the fact that it was not extended as long as they wanted.

“The anger of our fans is understood and shared by our Board, who continue to examine all legal options available.”  Newco do so well in court, the SPFL board must be terrified.

The statement confirms they have a problem accepting rules.  An independent QC explained to Newco MD Stewart Robertson and the rest of the SPFL board why Newco’s resolution could not be pursued.  Robertson was asked if there was anything more he wanted to ask and if he felt the matter had been given sufficient consideration by the SPFL board.

It was not the SPFL board, the chief exec, a retained solicitor or any other malign foe who stopped their resolution, it was an independent QC.  These are the rules, they were independently enforced, accept them.

Remember this SPFL vote did not end the Premiership season, all it did was ensure the season will not be voided, all other options remain on the table.  It’s not much of a hill to stand and fight on in these difficult times.

    From last blog…

I have a glance every day at worldodemeter website which lists covid stats by country. China had gone from zero deaths the previous day to 1290, this was listed under ‘new deaths’ hence my concern. I have to admit the implications of that kind of jump in numbers frightened me a wee bit. Turns out it was from previously unreported cases thankfully.

Thanks for your posts, I appreciate it.

  3. With Budge looking into reconstruction etc…. will she be taking into consideration the lack of fans attending games? It’s going to be a long time before large scale social gatherings will be permitted.

How many clubs will survive long enough to take their place in whatever structure Budge devises?

  4. Who’s telling the truth the Chinese government that’s open for business , or the west who argues amongst its self to when we should open again but can’t for fear of making a mistake

Some chatter online that Newco’s UEFA licence for next season may be in doubt. I’m afraid that is very unlikely. Based on a conversation i had with someone at Celtic who is familiar with these matters, he advised me that ‘the SFA are always going to grant the licence and that it is very much a tick box exercise’. The SFA will grant the licence and Celtic wont stand in their way.

    ====================

Perhaps had Celtic pursued Res12 toits conclusion then the UEFA Licensing would no longer be a box ticking exercise. What that attitude tends to confirm is UEFA FFP is not worth the paper its written on and that Celtic are quite happy to play clubs who do not meet licensing criteria.

No wonder the game is in a mess , the appearance of actual regulation is a just part of a con trick.

This from the Washington Post suggests UEFA do not share Celtic’s view

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/uefa-explores-financial-rule-changes-due-to-pandemic-impact/2020/04/07/3115d0c2-78e4-11ea-a311-adb1344719a9_story.html

    This

“The fact we have a crisis doesn’t mean we should allow any financial contribution just from anyone. … So if (someone) comes along and wants to help a club and with a billion euros that should be to help to reduce the debt levels. That shouldn’t be allowed to get a competitive advantage and then their losses are going up for the next few seasons.”

    and this

“If European clubs don’t pay Spanish clubs the Spanish clubs may not be able to pay other European clubs,” Tebas said. “That is why it’s important for the Financial Fair Play regulations to continue as they are and there is no one who wants to make the most of the circumstances and not pay. It is important Financial Fair Play regulations are abided by as they exist at the moment.”

illustrates UEFA’s dilemma and reinforces the point that FFP as it stands has to be a prime consideration before applying any CV19 relaxation.

The first para relates to owners pumping in money and the break even rule which Rangers have a difficulty meeting on both counts. The second the consequences of letting a club escape its debt to other clubs and this

” The UEFA executive committee did agree last week to give member associations more time to complete the club licensing process, including providing financial documents, given there is no clear time frame for starting next season.”

says clearly the current process needs to be completed, as it has to because one of the objectives of UEFA FFP is to prevent the possibility of a club on shaky solvency grounds getting a licence in case it subsequently goes bust after the competition starts.

The dilemma UEFA face now is that even with a set of books that show a club breaking even, future income flows are no longer dependable, including that UEFA will be able to have a competition at all. This suggests their prime aim will be to ensure that only clubs with a sugar daddy or a reasonable amount of cash in hand will be given entry…..

The conditions of 2011 are repeating themselves at Ibrox except this time supporters are much better informed of UEFA FFP rules and know the SFA have form. The idea that Celtic are happy with SFA’s tick box approach is indefensible, yet the failing on Res12 more than suggests Celtic are unwilling to correct.

However as long as supporters pay up thinking there are rules protecting fair play, why should Celtic bother?

another brilliant thing about that 5-1 game,

there was 30,000 huns at an ibrox beam back,

    hhahahahhaha

    …………….

    The 5-1 game was on Nov.21st 1998.

I am sure it was a 3pm Kick Off.

At that time I was winching a wee Hun Burd…just prior to eventually meeting my 2nd wife in 1999.

I had stayed in the Hun Burds Flat the night before the game, and left her home that Saturday morning to meet my mates in Bairds Bar as usual.

She obviously knew that I was going to the match with me having my season ticket, but she had arranged to meet a colleague from her work ( another Hun), as they had tickets for the Beam Back at Ipox.

I obviously had enjoyed the game, especially as it was the first time that I had witnessed ( in person), Celtic scoring FIVE Goals against them, as I wasnt at the 5-1 game in 1966, as my dad wouldnt take me.

After a couple of quick Pints with my mates , I sadly ahd to rush into The Toon and meet my wee Hun Burd after the game in The Scotia Bar.

I walked into the Bar, and there she was in a seat with her Hun Pal, with their Hun scarves in pockets/handbags.

I bought them both a drink, and i obviously had a very Big Smile on my face as I sat down next to them.

The Silence was DEAFENING from both those Huns, until I finally broke the ice by asking…” How long have you been in here..meaning ( The Scotia Bar obviously ) ” ?

She then replied, since about 4.15pm ( it was now just after 6pm)…as we LEFT the Beam Back EARLY”.

I then asked…” What was the score when you left the Ipox Beam Back” ?

    She answered…” 3 Nothing”.

I burst out laughing even more, as I said…” So you didnt even see the “Rangers” Goal, after paying ALL that money for a Ticket for The Beam Back….hahaha ”

Both of them were even more unhappy as I went on about how brilliant Van Bronkhursts Free Kick Goal was…despite it meaning…NOTHING !

A few weeks later just after Christmas 1998…She BINNED Me…without any prior warning……outta the Blue you might say !

    I wonder why ?

    LOL

    HH

  10. Another great memory from the 5-1 game in November 1998, was at the end of the game, when Celtic’s Disc Jockey played U2’s ” The Sweetest Thing” over the PA System…and tens of thousands of we Celtic fans joined in….as the Huns trudged their way out of Celtic Park…

Angry, Bitter ….and somewhat ugly in appearance…

Some things just NEVER change !

    LOL

  12. MELBOURNE MICK…

    Good morning to you.

I was up very early this morning as I went to bed quite early last night…around 9.30pm.

This is the start of my 30th Day of self isolation…and it aint getting any easier !

Here in Scotland, I honestly cant see the Lock Down ending before June…and even then it may be a “Staggered” lift of some Restrictions ?

I can see the Pubs being among the LAST to be allowed to re open…not forgetting the Pubs that may never re open ?

I hope its ALL Hun Pubs that dont re open….

Does that make me a Bad Man ?

    LOL

  14. IF Celtic are Crowned Champions later this week ( Thursday ?)…no doubt the Huns will insist that the Title is “Tainted” ?

If/when that happens…I take it that the Huns will REFUSE their Prize money for finishing 2nd…as that pay out will also be “Tainted”…or maybe they will take it and donate it to The NHS ?

I wont be holding my breath.

    LOL

    HH

  15. MELBOURNE MICK,

I also get a good laugh at the Huns “Statements”…..to me it looks as though it is The Marx Brothers on “Speed” that concoct those “Statements” ?

  21. Good morning from another blue sky’d sunny dry day in the Garngad

I know I bleep on about it but surely there is some correlation between a lot less cars on the road and planes in the sky and the dry bright weather we are getting?

MM – regarding some Zombie/Huns feeling embarrassed about the crayoned statements, I have never met one who does not spout the pish that they read in papers/their press conference’s. They truly are the most gullible of feckwits I have ever had the displeasure of meeting, not one recognise their club was liquidated and is DEED.

That tells us all we need to know.

I take it the hordes will have been wanting him to knock back the title for his wee Hun team. That would enable them to spout more pish.
