Newco preaching financial risk blind to Celtic benchmark

510

You would be forgiven for believing you lived in a parallel universe if you read Newco Rangers director, Paul Murray, today, who told us, “the benchmark in Scotland is Celtic”.  “First and foremost, we don’t want to put the club into financial risk”, he told reporters.

Yes, I know, it’s supposed to be the company, or maybe the holding company, that’s put at financial risk, not the club, the club can sail on regardless of financial realities. With an impressive sense of entitlement, but we’ll not press Murray to square that circle.

Let’s instead remind him of the roles of a non-executive director.  PricewaterhouseCoopers define the roles of a non-exec as:

Constructively challenging and contributing to the development of strategy

Monitoring the performance of management

Satisfying themselves that financial information is accurate and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust

Succession planning and determining appropriate levels of remuneration for executive directors.

Paul Murray, you will remember, was a non-executive director of oldco Rangers, and that club was well and truly put into financial risk, costing hundreds of creditors money, ending in liquidation.

Businesses have non-executives to offer help but also to be the eyes and ears of ordinary shareholders, creditors, customers, staff and any other stakeholders.  It’s their job to sit at board meetings and ask the questions of the executive management, ensuring the company is able to meet all obligations.

They should be banging fists on the table demanding risks are brought under control.  If they are unable to impose control on management, they should resign.

It was Paul Murray’s role to ensure that financial controls and systems of risk management were robust at oldco.  He was paid to constructively challenge strategy, and to ensure management performed their duties.

In this respect, Murray was magnificent.

22 years ago we went through a rebirth.  The old board, unable to take the club forward, limped off the scene.  Imagine for a second that a few years later Fergus and his fellow directors were swept aside by the old board (who remember saw the writing on the wall and appropriate took steps).

It’s unthinkable.  The benchmark in Scotland is indeed Celtic, where those susceptible to vanity spending on football bling at the cost of financial security will never be the eyes and ears of the club’s fans and shareholders.

These people are perfect in every way.

Some folk think that they will change the picture re : All things Celtic / the establishment etc…

    by, filling in petitions ?

Some folk place they’re faith in the Res : 12 Rebels….time will tell.

For me….Apathy took hold after MO’N left.

But…having thought about it….apathy might be the sucker punch that, the group that I identify as, the real problem for Celtic supporters – a cold hearted, soulless, Celtic PLC.

Ye see, the PLC’s policies have greatly reduced the quality of the product in the dug out and, on the pitch and, have chased away at least half of the attendances at Celtic Park.

    Bottom line….

    I don’t go anymore.

The PLC don’t get my money – downside, the I don’t get to cheer on the hoops on the pitch.

But,….the plus point for me is, the knowledge that a collection of, deceitful, sleekit, kowtowing liars aren’t getting my money and laffin up they’re cuffs at me.

Apathy will get rid of the board, slowly but surely.

Or, maybe karma will execute proper justice on the board if….

Big McGhee hand Ronny his eres on a plate(again) the morra ?

Aberdeen win the league(I don’t want to see this but….)

The deid(LOL) huns win the SC(don’t want to see that but….)

Could Karma be clearing her throat…..?

I agree what we know is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

We are learning more all the time and hence my point is you are at best jumping the gun in blaming Celtic and at worst letting your emotions cloud your judgement.

Another point is that instead of making, in total, probably well over 150 posts on the issue on here to date, that it may be a more productive use of your time and help bring the issues at play to the wider support if you took more discernible and visible action. I could be wrong on that, but you are banging your head off a brick wall on here so whats to lose.

Interesting post. Hope we stick with Ronny. Could see us with a team in a couple of years with Tierney, McGregor, Christie, Ajer, Nesbitt and Miller. If we ditch Ronny and get someone like Moyes I can’t see this happening.

The only way to deal with ‘all’ the corruption is to,

Sack The Celtic PLC set-up….restructure the club.

Get a board full of rebellious Celtic supporters who

won’t jump into bed with the establishment but, will

    go for the heart.

Know how ye do that ?

Get a manager with cojones who’ll put a fearless team onto the

pitch that’ll thrash the huns on the pitch, hoover up the trophies,

give the Celtic fans loads of celebration days.

    It’s so simple.

The greatest figure in the history of our club, loved nothing better than,

seeing his hooped team on the pitch, sticking it to the establishment.

NOTHING hurts them more than, seeing a Celtic team running round the pitch,

parading a trophy in front of an, ecstatic, spine-tingling-YNWA Celtic support.

    NOTHING…can touch that.

We’ll no beat them in masonic courts but,…we’ll beat them on the masonic

    pitches….ye just have to be…cute!

    So, so simple.

Sack the board – Let the Magic begin.

Dont make the mistake of thinking, that i post with ignorance.

I choose to write on CQN in the manner i do, because its a release for me.

I like to let it flow, drop typos, rant and rave….its my antidote to the rigorous nature of my ‘real’ work.

I come on CQN to let off steam, crack a few gags, and sometimes lose the plot.
