As a rule, I don’t like managers complaining about the pitch, the weather (Barbara is blowing in Hamilton right now), the ball or anything else prior to a game. Experience suggests if you give players an excuse to underperform, they’ll grab it with both hands.
The pitch at the Superseal (save us) Stadium Hamilton is more than adequate for a football match, let’s get on with it.
After a run of solid results Accies came off the rails in the last two games, losing narrowly to the top two: 1-0 away to Celtic then 1-2 to Newco in Hamilton. These are not the games which are important for Hamilton but losing twice by a single goal will sting. Barricades will be reinforced for Celtic tomorrow.
Brendan Rodgers has managed his squad subliminally well this month, resting players throughout but still putting a team on the field to win all, apart from the 1-1 away in the Champions League. He’ll know that anything less than 100% tomorrow brings the real risk of dropped points, so I’m far from sure he’ll be in the mood to rest anyone.
It’s been a couple of weeks since we saw images of Kieran Tierney back training. When he went through his operation we were told it would be January before we’d see him back, but he’s a fit lad, I wonder if he’ll be ready for 20 minutes on the magnificently smooth Lanarkshire surface.

CQN Saturday Naps Competition
Lads,
for those in the CQN Naps Competition, there is no UK or Irish horse racing today, so the CQN Saturday naps will transfer to Monday (Boxing Day).
In the meantime, wishing everyone on CQN a wonderful Christmas break, and a prosperous New Year (when it comes) … the latest CQN Naps standings are here :

Hope your mammy is ok give her a big hug from me mammys are special HH
Good morning CQN from a cool, clear and dry East Devon, let’s give this lot a pumping today. Hail! Hail!
Evening from a warm Sydney evening. Cloudy but warm. 28 and sunny for Xmas day :)
Great to Brendan come out and law the law down to the heated driveway one. No more agm balance sheet transfers to make up for financial failure Those days are gone
The vic and VVD transfers , while ensuring peter got his bonus , were both disasters for the team. Quick cheap ( in EPL standards) transfers purely for balance sheets. Don’t talk about sell on’s as they are just making up a small amount what the transfer fees should have been in the first place
Two sustainable models
1. Sell best players , don’t invest in quality , bring in lots of projects , cap salaries , reduce costs , including low cost coach , leading to empty stands and poor on field displays and massive loss of income. But zero debt It failed Sorry Paul
2. Small investment in quality, a good well paid manger ( notice he is not a coach ) removed salary caps ( Sinclair would not have come near Celtic park with PL old salary cap). Massive reduction in projects , quality over quantity
Leading to full stands , massive increase in income , onfield displays worthy of our club
Of course 2 worked and 1 failed
Don’t get how peter L who was the instigator of 1. Is still there
Don’t think it will be long tho
Thank you BR

Bah humbug, and seconded by this grinch!

Dark and windswept in darkest Lanarkshire ( it would be) this morning. Just collected the gammon, turkey and trimmings from local butcher, they’re called craft butchers now, in the same way as real ales are now called craft beers. Wonder if he was a real butcher previously?
Anyway, the gym beckons , even more shopping then a quick flit to Hamilton to see the bhoys. Hope the weather doesn’t spoil our plans.
Have a good day everyone, Hail! Hail!
Bobby. Ha merry Xmas. Don’t go on here much anymore. Tend to read Phil’s blog more. He knows what is happening He called paul67 the succulent lamb of Celtic cyber space lol
Fell off my chair yesterday when I read a few posts ago from Paul 67 about wr still have a sustainable model. Aye we do , but not the one he spun and backed. lol

Hope you and all the family have a lovely Christmas, back in on Wednesday but have had a brilliant wee break, not sure about getting a better job, the Mrs thinks I love the work, trust me there are worst places to earn a crust :-)
Jmccormick enjoy the game with your bhoy reading between the lines I think you got sorted for tickets
Sydneytim,
Agree. The worshiping of false gods at the altar of Lawwell has been up there with Laptop Loyal behaviour.
With Res 12 and Celtic / Lawwell aiding and abetting systematic cheating this year is the first year in 20 years that no Celtic shop presents for any of the family. Back in Scotland for Christmas and in Glasgow yesterday and walked buy the Celtic shop. I just couldn’t bring myself to go in.
Still keep my 3 season tickets but with the clubs gutless approach to RES 12 no more secondary commercial spend. Supporting the Team is enough until we change tack 180 degrees on RES 12 or Lawwell is gone ( ideally both ).
Looking forward to the game today. Everything done for Christmas and I don’t even have to cook today. It’s our wedding anniversary and we always go to Coias for a meal on Christmas Eve.
Some will be celebrating earlier than others so a happy and holy Christ’s Mas to all when it arrives. A wee 3-0 win will round it off nicely!

I like your thinking, get married on a day you won’t forget in the future :-)
Happy anniversary to you and Mrs VFR and hope you celebrate many many more
Thanks to HT I’ve managed to get rid of one ticket today – so there’s only 2 left for Hamilton today.
Any takers?
Lucky Cody. Lawell has personally profited from policies that were designed to ensure his bonus was in place, but our team went down and down
Laptop loyal indeed
Good morning friends from a pretty bleak looking, wet and wild East Kilbride, just 6 miles from New Douglas Park or whatever it’s called this week. ParkRun sensibly shelved this weekend. Hic.

Inverarity Morton bath street i think. Got a bottle there two years ago
Watched a fascinating and well made US documentary last night called ‘Rats’. How they deal with the rat pop explosions in NYC and New Orleans, and the overnight exterminations by hand in Mumbai.
Well worth a watch if your into that kind of stuff. An extremely clever and potentially dangerous animal.

Oddbins list Dom P among its Champagne or Bevvy as we call it in G12 :-)

Good Morning my fellow Hoops Supporters.. Hope you are all well on this Christmas Eve..
Apologies if this has been posted earlier, but just in from the G B….
Our final update, a massive thank you to all those who donated…
“Following the huge success of the #matchthefineforpalestine campaign we are delighted to invite supporters to join us on the Celtic Way at 12pm on the 29th January (before the 1pm kick-off against Hearts) as we hand over cheques to two Palestinian charities.
The campaign began in response to UEFA’s decision to bring disciplinary charges against Celtic for fans flying the Palestinian flag at our match against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. This act of solidarity with the oppressed and occupied people of Palestine attracted a €10,000 fine which our supporters so brilliant surpassed – and then some.
More than £176,000 was raised as the #matchthefineforpalestine campaign captured the kindness of Celtic fans and the attention of the world, bringing a spotlight on Israel’s 66 year-long occupation. The money raised will be split equally between the Lajee Centre in Aida refugee camp and Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The Lajee Centre is at the heart of Bethlehem’s second largest refugee camp and offers its people hope and an escape from the realities of life under occupation. It will soon also play host to Aida Celtic, a football team inspired and funded by your donations. MAP is a UK-based charity which delivers delivers vital health and medical care to Palestinians worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement.
We have been inundated with messages of gratitude and thanks from many thousands of people across Palestine and beyond. The Lajee Centre and MAP are also keen to pass on their thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign and with them, we look forward to seeing you on the 29th as we show, once again, that we truly are a club like no other.
Until the Last Rebel

I don’t know what the conditions were like in the likes of Dingwall last night, but if Hamilton is anything like down here, there is no way the game should be played. It is wild, wet and very very windy here. You can’t really stand up straight never mind run with or without a ball.
