No excuses, please, Brendan

As a rule, I don’t like managers complaining about the pitch, the weather (Barbara is blowing in Hamilton right now), the ball or anything else prior to a game. Experience suggests if you give players an excuse to underperform, they’ll grab it with both hands.

The pitch at the Superseal (save us) Stadium Hamilton is more than adequate for a football match, let’s get on with it.

After a run of solid results Accies came off the rails in the last two games, losing narrowly to the top two: 1-0 away to Celtic then 1-2 to Newco in Hamilton. These are not the games which are important for Hamilton but losing twice by a single goal will sting. Barricades will be reinforced for Celtic tomorrow.

Brendan Rodgers has managed his squad subliminally well this month, resting players throughout but still putting a team on the field to win all, apart from the 1-1 away in the Champions League. He’ll know that anything less than 100% tomorrow brings the real risk of dropped points, so I’m far from sure he’ll be in the mood to rest anyone.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we saw images of Kieran Tierney back training. When he went through his operation we were told it would be January before we’d see him back, but he’s a fit lad, I wonder if he’ll be ready for 20 minutes on the magnificently smooth Lanarkshire surface.

He’s buried in The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, commonly known as the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong – a seriously big gaff! :-)

THE Club is delighted to confirm that, at last month’s AGM, a resolution was passed for the Club to establish a Supporters’ Forum. The Forum is a consultative body with a remit to jointly discuss matters of importance and interest to the Celtic support regarding the Company.

The Forum will comprise representatives of the Company and the Celtic support, including delegates from the recognised Celtic supporter organisations.

We are now inviting Celtic supporters who wish to be part of the process to contact us to let us know. We aim to create a group which is representative of the broad range of Celtic supporters, from which the Club will invite individuals to attend meetings relevant to the issues that they wish to engage on.

The Forum will meet on at least three occasions in the course of the football season, with meetings scheduled in February, April and October. At the first meeting to be held in February 2017, we intend to consult on ticketing issues as well as the operation of the Forum itself. Topics for consultation at future Forum meetings will be based on feedback received and will be notified in advance.

Supporters who wish to take part in the Forum (whether in February or in the future) should contact us with brief background on them and the issues that are important to them. We will then contact you to request further information.

Please indicate your interest by emailing FanForum@celticfc.co.uk or by post to Fans Forum, Celtic FC, Celtic Park, Glasgow G40 3RE (no later than 13 January if you are interested in attending the February meeting).

Once we have reviewed your responses, we will contact individual supporters to invite them to participate in a specific Forum meeting. Over time, we will aim to involve as many interested supporters as possible.

We look forward to welcoming supporters to the first Forum meeting in February.
