No excuses, please, Brendan

480

As a rule, I don’t like managers complaining about the pitch, the weather (Barbara is blowing in Hamilton right now), the ball or anything else prior to a game. Experience suggests if you give players an excuse to underperform, they’ll grab it with both hands.

The pitch at the Superseal (save us) Stadium Hamilton is more than adequate for a football match, let’s get on with it.

After a run of solid results Accies came off the rails in the last two games, losing narrowly to the top two: 1-0 away to Celtic then 1-2 to Newco in Hamilton. These are not the games which are important for Hamilton but losing twice by a single goal will sting. Barricades will be reinforced for Celtic tomorrow.

Brendan Rodgers has managed his squad subliminally well this month, resting players throughout but still putting a team on the field to win all, apart from the 1-1 away in the Champions League. He’ll know that anything less than 100% tomorrow brings the real risk of dropped points, so I’m far from sure he’ll be in the mood to rest anyone.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we saw images of Kieran Tierney back training. When he went through his operation we were told it would be January before we’d see him back, but he’s a fit lad, I wonder if he’ll be ready for 20 minutes on the magnificently smooth Lanarkshire surface.

Stuff your Glasgae…… Glasgow means work to me, for the over a quarter a century getting the rat race train into “the toon” all my mates who actually had real jobs (trades) loved a wee jaunt into “the toon” at the end of the month when we we got paid, I hated it as I was in there all week, still hate it, stuff that, it’s like everything else when you are sunning yourself in Aussie land …… Barbara (storm) in Hamilton or Ek is the first thing on your mind……the rain and wind are overrated by the way she made Coatbridge but it’s all calm…… (For now)

I’d love the GB to sing this:

The island it is silent now

But the ghosts still haunt the waves

And the torch lights up a famished man

    Who fortune could not save

Did you work upon the railroad

Did you rid the streets of crime

Were your dollars from the white house

Were they from the five and dime

Did the old songs taunt or cheer you

And did they still make you cry

Did you count the months and years

Or did your teardrops quickly dry

Ah, no, says he, ’twas not to be

On a coffin ship I came here

And I never even got so far

That they could change my name

    Thousands are sailing

    Across the western ocean

    To a land of opportunity

That some of them will never see

    Fortune prevailing

    Across the western ocean

    Their bellies full

    Their spirits free

They’ll break the chains of poverty

    And they’ll dance…

You might be able to read but try and get things in the right order, I go to Glasgow “toon” Monday to Friday to pay the bills (work) my wife also works so at the weekend MissGFTB is my priority as my Mrs is up at 5am every Sunday for her work….. time is my enemy not work, but feel free to pick holes, by the way I don’t think Celtic Park is in the “toon” just next to Shettleston for me, but again Foghorn just pick the bits out of a post you feel necessary and if you actually read my post was to a Macjay and we are on different continents … but again knock yourself out

    :-)

    I take your point.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

However I have happier memories of Glasgow and Scotland , most probably people related.

For me sunny climes are only a slight compensation for the company of your ain folk .

    And then there`s Celtic.

Have a marvellous Christmas , my fellow Tim.
