No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

    Wouldn’t a number 1 have their own number 2 ???

Hang on. The Number 1 has a Number 2? That implies he has a Number 1 has a Number 1 and a Number 2. The Number 1’s Number 2 reporting to the Number 1’s Number 1?

The head coach will still pick the team though.

I’m guessing that happened a long time ago. DD underwrote the last share issue. He had to seek that permission to avoid buying up the unsold shares taking over the 29%? trigger point.

As you say, pretty uncontroversial to offer two good players from last season new deals.

I’m guessing though that they weren’t just put down to them this morning. Wouldn’t surprise me if lenny was still in employment when the baw started rollin’

  8. Izzy and Mick L re-resigning is BETTER than 2 new signings so GIRUY mr Hately!

    Why?

Cos we know they’re class and not projects.

Not much imo, maybes that’s the reason the suits are looking at him, he also suggested that he is being used as a smokescreen, possibly, can’t see it myself.

Great news about Izzy and Mickael.

Interesting that two signings have been made before the managerial announcement. Pretty uncontroversial to extend those two contracts I suppose – or was the manager in waiting consulted?

  14. One fine September afternoon, Sevco visited Glebe Park, Brechin to take on the locals in the Ramsden Cup.

Sevco striker Elbows McCulloch was playing the game of his life. Only 15 minutes on the clock and Sevco were 3-0 up, a hatrick for Elbows.

An overhit pass bounced harmlessly out of touch, ending up on top of the famous hedge.

Elbows, full of energy leapt up onto the hedge to retrieve the ball.

Jumping down he took the throw in himself.

As he bent down to pick up the ball, his fellow Sevconians noticed some green leaves protruding from the rear of his shorts.

No-one thought much of it. After all, he’d just come down from that famous hedge.

As the game went on, Elbows scored 3 more and was carried from the field on the shoulders of his jubilant colleagues.

“That’s the best striking display I have ever seen”, said Super Sally.

“It’s all down to you boss”, replied Elbows exhuberantly.

Taken aback by this unexpected praise, Sally asked, “was it those new training drills I introduced last week?”

    “Nope!”

    “Well, the fitness exercises then?”

    “Nope!”

“What about that Positive Thinking mental techniques?”

    “Nope!”

    “Well what then?”

Elbows reluctanlty admitted, “I overheard you talking to Mr Wallace after the game last week. I heard you tell him that you thought the only way I’d ever become a decent striker was if someone shoved some rocket up my arse!”

“At least I think that’s what you said.”

    Either

    1) nothing to see, move on or

    2) wait till after Ireland game Saturday night and we’ll announce it then

Daily Mail story posted earlier suggests Walford/Guppy on Ireland standby which suggests MON resigned to RK leaving – Ireland have US trip with 2 games

Yip, he and his assistant were fired on Tuesday, the management committee citing ‘underperformance’ as the reason for the decision.

To frame that underperformance, this time last year the club was admitted entry to the South of Scotland League and were planning accordingly. With the merger of the SPL & SFL, the SFA was able to introduce the long hankered-after pyramid system, which included a “Lowland League” to mirror the Highland League.

The club applied for and were admitted to the new Scottish Lowland League, and plans were changed accordingly at very short notice ahead of the inaugural season kicking off.

In the club’s first season in senior football, notwithstanding that the squad was brought together in a short number of weeks, EKFC finished mid-table in the league, were beaten in the semi final of the League Cup, and won (just last Saturday) the SFA South Challenge Cup.

The Challenge Cup comprises the teams competing in the East of Scotland, South of Scotland and Lowland leagues (EKFC’s win was notable for this being the first time a team from outside of the East of Scotland League had won it).

The ‘Management Committee’ by all accounts considers this level of performance to have been below the required standard, and Iain and Craig got their jotters on Tuesday.

Roy Keane has been installed as the bookies’ favourite to take over, marginally ahead of David Brent and Mr Magoo.

    Rev Davie hay,

I’m not so sure they will be privy to the new manager. Possibly though.

But if your theory is correct I’d add that I don’t think these two international quality players would sign New deals not APPROVING of who is coming in.

  22. Geordie Munro on

    For clarification.

I think the players will know who is being interviewed but not that there is already someone in place.

  23. Morning all.

Excellent news regarding Izzy and Mikael signing new contracts.

    New manager?

    HH!!

  24. Or maybe they just like it here and enjoyed a pay rise.

Both their stocks are high and if the new fella doesn’t like them they’ll move.

  26. The manager, Lenny had little say in who was signed, I imagine it will be the same for the incoming manager-coach.

The new deals that Izzy and ML have signed will have been ongoing for some time.
