Ntcham will be wondering, what more for a regular start?

331

After an ominous start, Celtic coped well with PSG’s superstars before they retired at halftime.  The midfield, in particular, looked effective.  Mohamed Elyounoussi, Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham were always comfortable.  The latter must be wondering, what more for a regular starting place?  I would not know how to answer that question.

The first half goals were irritating as inattentiveness contributed to them, taking the shine off what I thought was a really good demonstration of why we should play three at the back.  I know the club are busy with recruitment targets, but the shape of the team Neil Lennon wants to play will feed into details, like how many central defenders we need.  At least two, I suggest.  Nir Bitton does well, especially in possession, but his instincts are not those of a central defender.

It was great to see Tom Rogic back and looking the part.  We missed his presence in midfield for much of 2019, to the extent that my expectations of him have lowered.  It will be interesting to see how his fitness builds from this point onwards.

Hamilton Accies a week on Sunday will be a different challenge, alas.

“Celtic are close to agreeing personal terms with AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas, according to a report from Greek outlet. Whilst Celtic reportedly had their opening bid for the 26-year old rejected by AEK, the report claims that the Hoops have been in dialogue with the Greek international about the terms he’d like if a fee can be agreed and that the club and the player’s agent are close to agreeing a deal”…

…but we haven’t agreed to pay their asking price yet,

*back row right could be as Bada said John Curran who joined us fae Duntocher Hibs, he only played 4 games one of those was our biggest win that year 5-0 up at Arbroath where we fielded at the time our youngest ever 11, in between Ian Young is Tarbolton’s finest Billy Price who allegedly started the Celtic Cha Cha Cha chant and Aberdonian Don McMillan who was regarded as a coup when we signed him and the centre is George McBride signed from Greenock Juniors in 1961, played mostly with our Combined Reserve side and was released at the end of that season going back to Greenock.

    From the Herald

Celtic have had an initial £3.2m bid for Vasilios Barkas rejected by AEK Athens.

Hun game delayed till 8pm because of covid results , Motherwell announced a short while ago that their results are negative

  5. My disappointment with the game last night, was in how easily we often gave away possession

    Basics in holding the ball

And without any dentifying individual players

The lack of pace in some of players was clearly visible, and costing us space

As funny as the possibility of Huns failing, would get even funnier as it would stop them starting the season. Isolation for 14 days😂😂😂

  10. John in Greenock, has 4 season tickets, and talks about COVAD, embarrassed that the worldclass PSG beats the vry poor celtic cos we wont spend money on a goalkeeper.

    Hysterical.

Not in a laughing way, just hysterical.

Mullions and Mullions we got in, and we cant buy a goalkeeper.

  13. It was always going to be a tough ask for Celtic after months of inactivity to play those pre-season matches against French opposition, the home of the World Champions and one of the top leagues in Europe. Celtic did ok in the opening matches. Initially when I heard The Hoops were due to meet PSG my reaction was yuck, do we really have to play these guys and quite frankly I never want to see this financially doiped crew again. I hope the oil rich Arabs who control this club rewarded Celtic handsomely for their efforts. Rangers avoided PSG so I presume it was a special invitation to Celts

As of a couple of weeks ago, Celtic bought 2 Covid Testing Kits, and Ross County 1,seems they are about 40k a time.

People who go on Radio shows and moan about losing a meaningless friendly to a top European side deserve a swift kick in the RS McColls….

  17. This is a bit of a long read, but I did find the story both fascinating, and sometimes breath taking.

No matter how many times I read or see the slaves trade stories told it still has me reeling.

The connection with Andrew Watson, the Victorian Black Footballer is incredible.

Have a read if you want to pass the time.

  18. We need everyone to play their part this close season.

Other teams will be up for this and go all out to topple the Champions. We will have a fight on our hands.

We need to make our financial advantage and experience count.

    No excuses.

  19. When we stopped their corrupt 10 we were underdogs going into that season – always good to remember these things – keep your eyes on the prize Bhoys
