Ogilvie and Regan must now resign

968

What you and I have known for months was established as true by the BBC last night, Rangers improperly registered players for over a decade.  Following the programme there was some bluster by a firm of accountants who clearly have a lot to worry about, but nothing has been said to dispute the dual contract claim.

The SLP have not added to their 65 word statement released ahead of the broadcast.  SFA chief executive Stewart Regan has told the BBC the association will not act, unless called to do so as an appeal body, and SFA President What-school-did-you-go-to has not uttered a word.

Campbell Ogilvie was an executive director of Rangers when it carried out a dual contract system in contravention of the rules of the SFA.  This is an established fact which is likely to have severe repercussion for the Scottish game and the club.  It is inconceivable that he continues to act as president of the SFA, especially when it has taken the decision not to become involved, despite being the only body competent to investigate breaches across all domestic competitions.

He must resign immediately or be fired.  If Mr Regan does not understand this he should be fired too.  He is there to take the hard decisions, not to make friends.  He has abandoned fans at the time they most need clear leadership.

Anyone on the board in any doubt about this matter must follow them out the door.  The SFA is professional body with budget of millions of pounds, not an old boys club, and should act accordingly.

On the 25th of May you want to talk about the peepil, you sure you got your mind right Kev??

  2. While today is the 45th Anniversary of the greatest day in the history of football, it is also the 35th Anniversary of the greatest day in Cinema history! Strangely and happily they are connected!

It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have

My abiding memory as a then 13 year old, is me with shorts on and Celtic scarf, and my dad and grandad, fully suited, white shirts, dark ties, and thick woolen Celtci scarves. Sweat was pouring off them

Am sure it was a “holiday of obligation” that day and we went to mass the morning of the game?

    Bill Miller’s lawyers;

“The view that the SPL took was that there was sufficient evidence to indicate that the way that Rangers had been paying their players was via a dual method, the payroll and EBTs, so there was a case to answer for,” says David Roberts, of the legal firm, Olswang, that represented Bill Miller during his bid for the Ibrox side and held discussions with the SPL.

“What Duff & Phelps said to us was that there may be some reticence pushing the investigation forward because a beneficiary of the EBT payments [Campbell Ogilvie] was now on the SFA board, but we saw no evidence of that. My genuine belief was that this was an issue that gave rise to a potential breach of the rules and the SPL were discharging their governing body duties by looking at it. It may also breach the SFA rules as well. It was something being taken very seriously by the authorities.”

    —–

So Duff & Phelps were expecting favours/leniency from the SFA because Campbell Ogilvie is on the board of the SFA and previously received EBT payments?

Campbell Ogilvie must go, his continued employment in the SFA is skewing the Rangers administrators’ view of potential penalties for Rangers and what they are informing bidders (perhaps even to this day with Charles Green). At best this is naive, at worst they had guidance on the matter within the SFA, perhaps from Campbell himself. We’ll never know that but the fact remains, he must go.

Ogilvie has no shame, in fact, he is very synonymous with the “we arra people” mentality. How he has the gall to remain in his position is astounding. No shame, and certainly no dignity.

Walk today you moron. (or perhaps you don’t do walking away?)

  8. Do the creditors (aside from the biggies like HMRC, Ticketus) not have the right to go to the court and ask them to consider whether D&P are acting in thier best interests, you know, like they are supposed to?

“What Duff & Phelps said to us was that there may be some reticence pushing the investigation forward because a beneficiary of the EBT payments [Campbell Ogilvie] was now on the SFA board, but we saw no evidence of that. ”

Yip there is no evidence of the SFA not performing an enquiry and delegating responsibility of such an enquiry to the SPL who only have the right to govern in one competition…..Hmmmmmmm.

The SFA, SPL and SFL are not fit for purpose.

But do you know what? Despite the corruption we overcame and we lifted that trophy.

45 years ago today. Just a magical memory. Watched it as a 12 year old at home in Castlemilk. It wasnt only about CFC becoming the first Scottish/British/Non-Latin/Northern European club to win the big cup, it was the way it was won. Celtic’s performance and style of attacking football that day is still talked about all over the world by those who saw it. Thanks to Jock Stein, CFC became a famous name that day, and another team has never lived it down since.

I went to every home game and it wasnt untill we saw off Vojvodina (who were very good) that we felt that something big could be happening, although subconsciously never expecting to get past the Italian millionaires who had knocked out the great Real Madrid. Anyway the rest is the stuff of legend.

After the game every young boy in that area of Casltemilk headed for St.Dominics school football pitch. Ther must have been over 100 players on the pitch that night, perhaps 5 different games going on. Can you imagine it, 5 or 6 keepers in each goal? Thats the way it was, everyone felt truly inspired to play football and copy their heroes. I’ll never forget it. Dont think I saw my old man for 2 days. He ended up in the Gorbals which was a total party zone. Fantastic memories and although a long time ago, still very vivid.

Eternal Thanks to Jock Stein and the Lisbon Lions (and the other players who got us to Lisbon).

this isnt about the sfa, it’s about d&p telling porkies to potential buyers to push through a sale. when miller’s lawyers asked the sfa about it they were told that it was absolute baloney and that it would have no bearing on the investigation.

    desperate stuff

So Duff and Phelps have been telling potential bidders not to worry about any punitive action from the SFA regarding the EBT case as the main man

there enjoyed tax free benefits from an EBT during his time as an employee of rangers! Whether there is a conflict of interest or not that alone should have them flung out of the big hoose for gross industrial misconduct.

I think you’re right, it was the feast of Coprus Christi: and us west of Scotland Tims would have had the day off as a Holyday of Obligation.

I made my First Holy Communion at St Eunan’s, Clydebank on the morning of Saturday, 27 May, but missed school on Friday, 26th due to exhaustion!

Amongst the cherished memories I have of 25.5.67, I vividly recall the lovely weather that night – and a group of school pals (and their older relatives) wending their way home past my house that evening, singing Celtic songs and carrying a bed-sheet banner proclaiming ‘Celtic Champoins of Europe’.

    O tempora o mores …

  14. what it also shows is ogilvie has to go now, his involvement in ebts is impacting on his role and on scottish football
