Celtic’s season is perched at a tantalising angle, but if you know your history, you’ll know that such pent-up potential often flounders in scrappy cup encounters. Set to face Kilmarnock in the League Cup final, they are favourites in the league and have not allowed a Scottish club to lay a glove on them in almost three months. No one is tipping against them in any competition, but despite being in exactly this situation many times in the last 40 years, only once have they been able to see out a straightforward looking campaign and collect the three trophies available.
All it takes is a bumpy away ground in the middle of winter to level the playing field (metaphorically, if only it would literally) and deliver the inevitable cup exit. Our chances of winning tomorrow are no better than 50/50. Inverness know the script, they are a decent team who, despite two cup exits to Celtic last season, had enough in their locker to deny us five points in the league.
Celtic have a potential of five cup games remaining this season across both competitions, but after Inverness, only one of those can be away from home. With league form seemingly set by metronome, you’re looking at one of the most dangerous games of the season tomorrow.

I see you believe that he has the ability to plant lateral ideas? The type of psychological tricks one would use to get children to do something? I doubt this very much he doesn’t strike me as the type of person who would have heard of Edward de Bono or understand the premise of lateral thinking.
I would agree that the big fear amongst the LL is that Sky will see the potential demise of Rangers as an opportunity to increase their revenue stream by lobbying for Celtic to be admitted into the English league system, Given the perilous financial state that a lot of the EPL and Championship teams are in Sky will have a very big bargaining stick.

I would like to post a Celtic related photo but don’t have a clue where to start.
A few days ago twitter was supposedly chosen vehicle for a number of people in the know to tweet “Adimistration Wednesday”. Then the likes of Amadeus spout that they have a scoop that will blow our minds.
Getting fed up with Celtic fans claiming to know stuff (a friend of a friend, a mate that works with etc. etc.) which turns out to be made up, wishful thinking crap that makes Keevins and Traynor look like honest men.
If you know something, man up and say it. If you don’t, stop pretending you do.

The Ticketus Deal and Its Implications
While a frenzied debate has taken place on FF during the last few days, the key issue has escaped attention – namely, the impact of the Ticketus deal on Rangers’ wage bill. A large difference between the salaries offered by each half of the Old Firm will ultimately dictate where the league flag habitually resides. We saw this all too clearly in the early years of David Murray’s tenure.
Basic calculations suggest that we will be short of at least £8 million in each of the following three seasons (some put this figure higher) in relation to the position in December.
Ignoring all other factors, the only way we will keep our heads above water is to slash the wage bill and/or ship out players who’ll command a significant transfer fee.
What this translates to is the inevitability of not being able to afford to keep or recruit players on the McGregor/Davis level. Players seeking new contracts like Naismith may very well be attracted elsewhere.
In essence, we will be pitching ourselves at the very lower end of the English Championship.
And this is all regardless of the HMRC result and possible ensuing repercussions.
Although there will clearly be a huge impact on the quality of playing side, what also has to be borne in mind is that there is likely to be a consequential effect on the volume of season ticket sales, attendances in general and other revenue streams. In other words, we may enter a self-perpetuating downward spiral.
Let us not be fooled by spin that the Ticketus deal represents sound business sense. It amounts to chopping up the floorboards to use as firewood.
Given the situation outlined above, the fans have a right to know just why the club borrowed the equivalent of 6 months worth of operating costs and why the Chairman lied about this.

I watched most of the Dunfermline-Inverness match from the earlier round and noticed the absence, in the main, of the type of over the top deliberate assaults, Terry Butcher’s team believe they have the right to inflict on Celtic players. Barring our sudden transformation into a team that can physically look after itself, Neil Lennon needs to take a leaf out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s book with a warning to the referee in advance, that he needs to do the job he is paid for, ie read the laws of the game and apply the rules. We will know if we are doing the right thing if Butcher is hysterical by half-time, preferably sooner, and is completely off his trolley by full-time, a sight I find one of the most entertaining in football.
It is bloody freezing in the North East of Scotland -7c this morning. Although forcast for midday tomorrow at Inverness airport is a balmy 4degc with light rain so the game should be on.

I know I am not always the biggest fan of our captain either but i think this is the type of game that he actually does best in and their would be no chance of any of his teammates taking it easy when he is on the pitch.
I am begginning to see why Lenny thinks so much of him, not that he is a world beater though, but i think he is that solid type that we need and has actually been playing well of late

Naismith was told the day before he injured himself that he wasn’t getting a new contract and to find a new club!
A strong midfield 4 tomorrow,dont break up Stokes/Hooper,let them worry about us.They are 10th in the league for a reason.Cup ties can be unpredictable but I think we talk ourselves in to a negative mindset when playing this lot.
