The stage is set for a magnificent Celtic occasion but these days often don’t go to plan. Celtic are champions, solvent, united and planning for Champions League qualification next season. Their opponents are none of these things but they remain a formidable team who have four and three goals past Celtic on two occasions this season.
Anyone who thinks tomorrow will be a procession is palpably wrong, Rangers will present as great a challenge as Celtic have faced since slipping out of the Europa League. Out opponents will be motivated by the enormous events taking place in their club at the moment; they are playing for self-respect.
Rangers are also a conundrum; both robust and fragile. Elbows McCulloch will stamp his brand of influence all over the field, the chances of no Celtic player picking up an injury are low, but at the same time, touch them in and around the Celtic box and they will collapse in a heap.
We can hope for a big win but any win will do.

The police say 5,000 on the march?? Every other estimate I’ve seen is between 1,000 and 2,000.
Funny that the police give the highest estimate of attendance.The usual rule of thumb for demos is to take an average of the organisers’ overestimate and the police’s underestimate to get a decent figure. Guess that only works for left wing protests, not hun ones.

Watching the Wigan game and I am reminded of a sore point that I have had for a long time with regard to the fitness levels of Celtic players. Today’s example of Maloney and in particular Caldwell , who looks like he has lost 8 kg’s from his Celtic days bring the message home to me again. We can go further back to Boruc and Hartley but even today,sadly, I get the feeling that if Hooper went to Southampton and Commins went to West Brom or wherever I would expect to see them at least 3 kg’s lighter. This is a huge opportunity for us and I am concerned about this situation which has been around for many years. Of course we have some very naturally fit players but it is the ones who have to work at it that don’t appear to get there at our club. Somehow the English teams have a level of fitness that we can but aspire to and I don’t really get it. I would say McGeady was the last player that I could visibly see a marked improvement in his physique and fitness levels. It puzzles me as I am sure the facilities are all in place. Any thoughts?
