Oops, we forgot about Sevco 5088

930

We are all familiar with brinksmanship; adopting what seems like an uncompromising position despite acute potential consequences.  Correspondence recently released around the goings-on at Rangers International and associated companies suggests at least two combative parties have been edging towards the brink since last year.  Now it is clear they are both well over the brink, it’s too late for either to back down.

The conclusion of Pinsent Masons’ report was released to the stock market this morning and found “no evidence that Craig Whyte had any involvement with Sevco Scotland Limited (now called The Rangers Football Club Limited), the company which ultimately acquired the business and assets of The Rangers Football Club P.L.C. from its administrators; nor which would suggest that Craig Whyte invested in The Rangers Football Club Limited or Rangers International Football Club plc”.

All of which, sharp-eyed observers will note, is exactly what Mr Whyte is so animated about.

Let me run through that list of companies which Mr Whyte was not involved with again:

Sevco Scotland Ltd: check
AKA The Rangers Football Club Ltd: check
Rangers International Football Club PLC: check
Sevco 5088 Ltd: wait a minute, they missed out Sevco 5088 Ltd!!

This is where the project resembles trying to push water uphill:

Rangers International plc claim Sevco 5088 Ltd is a subsidiary of theirs.

Mr Whyte claims to be a director and beneficiary of Sevco 5088 Ltd.

Pinsent Masons’ report’s published conclusion fails to comment on Mr Whyte’s status in connection with Rangers International’s claimed subsidiary company, Sevco 5088 Ltd.

The SFA prohibited the new associate member club from having any connection with Mr Whyte.  Last week the SFA chief executive acknowledged the seriousness of the club potentially breaking the conditions of membership, but said the Association would await the outcome of the Pinsent Masons’ report.  The published conclusions of which does not address the question.

Rangers International have just dared the SFA to act.  They are familiar with the tactics of brinksmanship, however….

Just in case you are new to this subject…..

Hell will freeze over before any football association with Campbell Ogilvie as president will act on this matter.  “Heavily conflicted” Campbell will ensure his board take no action.

I was delighted to read one man who knew exactly what he was dealing with when he took on the SFA.  Echoing the comments made here yesterday, Fergus McCann said:

“Filling Celtic Park against Barcelona or Spartak or Rangers is the easy part.

“The part that really counts is consistent support at every game at Celtic Park and that will deliver the top-level matches.

“My time at the Croy CSC reminds me of the importance of dedicated support.

“The members knew that their role was vital, especially in the hard times.”

The future of our club is very much in our own hands and these are important times to fill out Celtic Park.

Waterstones, Stirling, 5-7pm TODAY!

I’ll be at Waterstones, Stirling, with Willie Wallace from 5pm until 7pm this evening.  Willie will be available for photographs and signing copies of his autobiography, Heart of a Lion.  If you’re from the area, call in, I’ll see you there.

Many thanks to all who bought tickets for the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, we sold out last night.  Thanks also to those who are bidding on the fabulous signed Messi top, you still have a few days left to get involved.  The spirit of Walfrid is alive and well 125 years on.

  2. Italiabhoy,

Completely agree. They are utterly ignorant. An organisation can not survive when they are in such a mess and uncertain about who actually owns it!

They might be able to steer an internal investigation, but the ownership of the big hose will be decided by a court.

There is more to come from this Green and Whyte panto….

Rumours that they are replacing the club crest with an ostrich are completely unfounded :-)

If your looking in Caityrollercoaster’s U-13 game in the Port tomorrow has been cancelled. Seemingly they couldn’t borrow enough body armour for the game :-)

Also to let you know that the Thursday nite CQN over75’s 5-a-sides went well tonight without serious injury or loss of pension book. Mind just starting to seize up now

Speaking to a few supporters over here, and to a man, they all still think the huns are still the huns.

Relegated to the bottom for financial problems, I tried to enlighten them to no avail, maybes if I had a better grasp of the lanuage it would be easier, but I would doubt it.

  9. Ever noticed that when the MSM dare mention the ‘L’ word it is always in relation to the company? No surprise really however, they always report it as ‘the Ibrox CLUB went into administration’.

  11. The fall out between Green & Whyte looks like going to Court. At that stage its spiv against spiv and who wins is anyone’s guess. I would assume that we will be rooting for Craigy as a win for him would totally mess them up. Either way if the very ownership of the Club is in doubt they will be totally hamstrung for a few years. Hard to see any new investors ploughing in until the ownership issue is clarified.

Apart from this issue for the Club to survive they have to plug the hole that is leaking a million a month. There needs to be a massive cost cutting exercise with widespread redundancies & savings. Green unhindered might have done it, with the compromise now forced on him and Sir Walter in situ it won’t happen. They will continue to leak and run out of funds, obviously Chuck & Co. will hope to have bailed out before then.

I think time and the powers that be will prove you wrong.

They should be long gone, they are not, they shouldn’t have a licence, they do, they are still breaking the rules, and still they are getting away with it.

Nice wee Pinot for me. We played well as a team, so did the other guys, close game.

How many times did B hit the post and bar, 4-5?

  19. My season book was a hundred pounds cheaper this year and my son’s was eighty pounds cheaper. As well as at least one friendly and one cup tie we will also get one Euro match. As a result, a close relation is thinking of returning after more than a decade. Maybe the stadium will be busier and the club more willing to spend on players.

I think Lenny and the Board have done some things right recently.

    Hail Hail!

  20. derbyshirebhoy on

Unfortunately and it may be an age thing I find myself more and more despondent about the position I find the Club occupying in 2013.

Whilst we have a neighbour who generate such world wide interest and income on our borders we are hogtied and can never hope to develop as we need to.

The plain fact is that the game in Scotland is dead and it is the inactivity of those involved in the game to sort themselves out that now means that Celtic are marooned as a currently big fish in a stagnant pond. I cannot find any great enthusiasm for recurring flutters on the European stage with a price tag of suffering the dross produced throughout 38 games to get there. It is not sustainable and the current re-arrangement of the deckchairs called League Restructuring will add the square root of nothing towards entertaining our fan base which will inevitably dwindle.

The danger for all of us is that Celtic will become an anachronism, a fond memory of a side who were once world renowned but who slid further into the shadows chained to the confines of a League that has no appeal outside the borders of Scotland and continues to lose its appeal even there.

This to some extent answers the question of why many of us are absorbed and consequently diminished by everything associated with the former Rangers club simply because their story and the machinations of the characters both in the SFA and SPL who have twisted turned and torn up every rule book to try to preserve them only serves to show up what is patently obvious. This has not been altogether about the saving of Rangers. It has much more likely to have been about preserving the status of the small minded people who run the game in Scotland. To save Rangers helps to preserve the fiction of a strong football nation. To preserve Rangers maintains the position of those who have profited from the game whilst leading it into the wilderness by a refusal to accept reality.

The Scottish Football Association is not fit for purpose. It has lost all its moral compass and any right it ever had to represent the game in Scotland yet it remains supported by like thinking small minded men who run the clubs and who in any civilised society would be demanding change to better serve the fans who are the only possible prospect of any sort of future for football in the country. Instead these club leaders simply continue to accept more of the same. One can only presume because the status quo continues to feed their egos. Meanwhile the game we all love dies before our very eyes.

As for anyone who believes that the return of a revived Rangers would restore the game to health I would simply suggest they are deluded.

Only radical surgery will have any possibility of saving the game in Scotland. That demands an acceptance by all of our clubs and fans that to have a Scottish Football Association in 2013 is an anachronism that we can ill afford. It’s time for the clubs and the fans to accept that and to call on Uefa to release them from the control of the SFA and seek admission to the English league system under the auspices of the F.A.

It is for me that option or await the inevitable demise of our own club.
