Oops, we forgot about Sevco 5088

930

We are all familiar with brinksmanship; adopting what seems like an uncompromising position despite acute potential consequences.  Correspondence recently released around the goings-on at Rangers International and associated companies suggests at least two combative parties have been edging towards the brink since last year.  Now it is clear they are both well over the brink, it’s too late for either to back down.

The conclusion of Pinsent Masons’ report was released to the stock market this morning and found “no evidence that Craig Whyte had any involvement with Sevco Scotland Limited (now called The Rangers Football Club Limited), the company which ultimately acquired the business and assets of The Rangers Football Club P.L.C. from its administrators; nor which would suggest that Craig Whyte invested in The Rangers Football Club Limited or Rangers International Football Club plc”.

All of which, sharp-eyed observers will note, is exactly what Mr Whyte is so animated about.

Let me run through that list of companies which Mr Whyte was not involved with again:

Sevco Scotland Ltd: check
AKA The Rangers Football Club Ltd: check
Rangers International Football Club PLC: check
Sevco 5088 Ltd: wait a minute, they missed out Sevco 5088 Ltd!!

This is where the project resembles trying to push water uphill:

Rangers International plc claim Sevco 5088 Ltd is a subsidiary of theirs.

Mr Whyte claims to be a director and beneficiary of Sevco 5088 Ltd.

Pinsent Masons’ report’s published conclusion fails to comment on Mr Whyte’s status in connection with Rangers International’s claimed subsidiary company, Sevco 5088 Ltd.

The SFA prohibited the new associate member club from having any connection with Mr Whyte.  Last week the SFA chief executive acknowledged the seriousness of the club potentially breaking the conditions of membership, but said the Association would await the outcome of the Pinsent Masons’ report.  The published conclusions of which does not address the question.

Rangers International have just dared the SFA to act.  They are familiar with the tactics of brinksmanship, however….

Just in case you are new to this subject…..

Hell will freeze over before any football association with Campbell Ogilvie as president will act on this matter.  “Heavily conflicted” Campbell will ensure his board take no action.

I was delighted to read one man who knew exactly what he was dealing with when he took on the SFA.  Echoing the comments made here yesterday, Fergus McCann said:

“Filling Celtic Park against Barcelona or Spartak or Rangers is the easy part.

“The part that really counts is consistent support at every game at Celtic Park and that will deliver the top-level matches.

“My time at the Croy CSC reminds me of the importance of dedicated support.

“The members knew that their role was vital, especially in the hard times.”

The future of our club is very much in our own hands and these are important times to fill out Celtic Park.

Waterstones, Stirling, 5-7pm TODAY!

I’ll be at Waterstones, Stirling, with Willie Wallace from 5pm until 7pm this evening.  Willie will be available for photographs and signing copies of his autobiography, Heart of a Lion.  If you’re from the area, call in, I’ll see you there.

Many thanks to all who bought tickets for the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, we sold out last night.  Thanks also to those who are bidding on the fabulous signed Messi top, you still have a few days left to get involved.  The spirit of Walfrid is alive and well 125 years on.

Not sure of the exact date but I think it’s about the same time as the Cardigan comes out and says he was “duped”.

Not the first time you have made that claim. Given that I no longer have my copy of Willy Maley’s history of Celtic, and do not know what happened to it I cannot check it out personally, could you do me a favour, and post the page where Willy Maley states that Brother Walfrid pronounced Celtic as Keltic? Thanks in advance.

Jsut in from book signing at Stirling with Willie Wallace and Paul 67.

Sold out the entire stock of books– every last one gone with Waterstones staff saying they will have to restock tomorrow urgently.

Also listen out for the forthcoming special programme on BBC Radio Scotland with Kenny McIntyre interviewing Willie and Bertie Auld.

This is the best comedy double act you will hear this year.

They told story after story, traded barbs, insults, jokes and just about everything else and there is an obvious warmth between the two.

The sound engineer in the room next door where I was burst out laughing regularly at the patter.

Whisky in the shower rooms before the game.

Wee Jimmy escaping from a ground floor window with the help of a ladder.

A Player by player look at the Lions except Willie– cause Bertie was asked about Willie and spoke about everything else but Willie!!!

It is also rumoured that they are wanted by Cosgrove and Cowan for off the ball– well good luck to Tam and Stuart if they get them cause they will be out a job as the oddest couple in Scottish Football circles once the two auld yins get into them!!

Has Charlotte’s identity been established yet ?

    Dont think so :))

The fat fool over on FF said he had email stuff but it was laughed at (as usual).

  14. HT

Ask the SFA what they are going to do about the breach by sevco of the agreement to re admit the league

Also …..tell them the Hun sponsored cover up report is Lillian Gish

But we won’t and the cover up will continue

  15. Auldheid/Others

I’ve loved them not being in our league (In every sense) – so much so I feel it should become the norm.

But I see what’s happening and it makes me heartsick. More importantly I hear what their support are thinking and believing. And I’m beginning to think and believe they’re right.

If you say loudly and often enough that you got relegated 3 divisions and no-one from the media questions it then it starts to stick as a mindset.

Is every Agent advising players to go to The The Rangers just off their trolley?

More players signed on SPL wages…

‘Official’ attendances through the roof…? No kickback from our media…

Mentioned on every media channel – advertised on every media channel – whilst 3rd division clubs were castigated for overselling tickets – they got to fill their stadium, without actually filling their stadium.

Football and football success is cyclic when it’s a two horse race (In the main) – that they can somehow creep back and get a foothold in the SPL and within the next 5 to 10 years be a potential dominant force is enough for me.

They are being allowed to kill any notion that football is fair, under the guise that football without them is too, too horrible to contemplate.

I have contemplated it. I have embraced it. And early. But it comes at a cost. It costs giving up on things. Scottish Football.

Truth of the matter is that if Paul can write something so exact about his opinion of Ogilvie’s future actions, without fear of libel proceedings… Then we are where we are, but we ain’t nowhere near where we should be.

Time for other things to be.

Because if we end up hoping we’ve garnered enough of a start against ‘them’ – financially and otherwise – and hope that stands us in good stead whilst playing in the same league, governed just now by the SPL – managed overall by the SFA – then we are in danger of deluding ourselves.

Time for other things to be.

Pinsent Masons would have been working to a very specific remit. It may well have been that the remit was drawn up in such a way that the right questions were not asked because they would have been outwith the remit.
