Organisations tend to back their own

148

People who belong to organisations are predisposed to protect that organisation whenever it or its reputation is threatened.  It is human nature.  The reputation of the SFA refereeing community is in question today.

One of their senior members, John Beaton, acting with full consideration, advised referee Don Robertson that Yang’s yellow card should be upgraded.  This is the reason Celtic are not top of the table with nine games to go.

Celtic’s appeal against the decision to award a red card will be heard today.  There will be no conspiracy to reject Celtic’s claim, but, irrespective of the merits of any claim (in any environment), there is an inertia to go against one of your own.  I will be pleasantly surprised if they do not back their own man.

We are going to need to win this the hard way.

  1. Clearly being refereed to different standards by the SFA. Beaton is the leading cheat.

Celtic board need to take the evidence of the cheating and take it to the SFA and make it public.

Celtic need to call for VAR to be removed until it is run properly by officials. Celtic need to stop funding it and all cooperation with the SFA; it is a corrupt organisation.

Celtic need to make it crystal clear to Maxwell and Allan that Beaton cannot referee any more Celtic games.

Any media nonsense just ban them.

Celtic have been part off the problem with their acceptance. Needs to change big time — who gives a monkeys what a bunch off incompetent blazers say or half wit journos.

  2. Good morning all from a dry, still, 4 degree Garngad.

Lucky Cody- good post, that would be the majority of Celtic supporters thinking.

Get the audio listen to what changed Robertson’s mind that it was a red instead of yellow. But definitely come out and say we do not want Beaton anywhere near our games ever and will not give 1 more thin dime to VAR.

I thought Yang’s appeal had no chance so I’m not going to get lathered up about the outcome.

What I will be interested in is the precedent it sets. How high is a high boot?

Head height? Shoulder height? Chest height?

Unfortunately it will come down to the refs subjective judgement of “serious foul play”.

Plus ca change and all that.

  7. Front page of rag: still picture gives impression Yang deliberately kicks Cochrane. I just hope we say we will no longer fund VAR. The cheating is now quite blatant.

  8. Every intelligent human being would know what Beaton was up to on Sunday. So I guess it means that intelligence and honesty is lacking at the SFA.

  9. “PARKHEADCUMSALFORD on 6TH MARCH 2024 8:54 AM

The cheating is now quite blatant.”

Not sure there was any need for the word `now` :-)

  10. It’s funny how all of a sudden ‘football pundits’ are lining up to tell us how they thought the decisions against us were wrong and cannot figure out how the decisions were arrived at. These interventions of course come safe in the knowledge that none of the decisions can/will be overturned, the result stands and Celtic dropped 3 points.

Funny how since the introduction of VAR there has been almost total silence from them, unless of course it did not benefit their favourite Club. The lack of clarity on how decisions are made both on and off the field have been a bone of contention for most clubs most of the time but only occasionally they say something usually as a result of, as was on Sunday, game changing decisions which were blatantly wrong.

As many have said before there are too many vested interests; SFA, referees, pundits, media who see their only function to protect and advantage one Club, it has ever been thus. This is not the ramblings of a mad conspiracy theorist, as many said at the time when Rangers went bust, we were not paranoid enough!

  11. Some say refs are professionals , and unbiased ( maybe just incompetent )

English refs ( professionals ) declare their football allegiance …

Scottish refs ( part -timers ) don’t declare any alligience… ( teachers preachers politiciands and football youth coaches )

Why do no referees ,ref games of their home countries of they are so professionally unbiased

  12. carpe diem 63 on

Connaire 12 ….unfortunately malice afforethought requires a degree of intelligence and planning ..so alas the Mibs and SFA possess this …in much the same way as Rats have a tail 😡

  13. carpe diem 63 on

I believe professional referees could be the answer ..,give them a career to feck up …might influence their conscious bias 🤔

  14. carpe diem 63 on

Totally agree Mcphail bhoy …to quote Roger Waters …the bravery of being out of range ….

  15. Dont believe professional referees will improve anything, give these crooks more money to do the same, how would that improve things, they don’t want to be accountable for any decision and I personally think the personal safety thing is a lot of rubbish, if anyone’s personal safety is at risk phone the Police, get it dealt with through them like the rest of us. No way is Beaton going to be disciplined by his employer so it’s now down to clubs to say your referees are crap, we want external referees with accountability training and supervision carried out externally, look at the problems in the Police for 1 service that has been allowed to check its own work, it’s now going to cost every taxpayer fortunes in payouts due to the corruption at the heart of it.Refereeing here is the same.

  16. Do not know for sure but guessing Yang was sent off for ‘serious foul play’.

Yang chests the ball but it moves upwards….Cochrane who is close by is then entitled to try and head the ball, and that what he tries to do….Yang tries again this time with foot high in the air, at this point endangering the ‘safety of an opponent’. Red card.

  17. Have referees made us lack-lustre, inconsistent, mis-firing. devoid of cohesion, unable to beat St Johnstone, Motherwell, Hearts and Kilmarnock at Celtic Park? I think not – let’s stop the martyr complex. We are just not good enough – simple as that!

  18. So every high foot / overhead ,bicycle kick will result in a red card for endangering the safety of an opponent

Or will it be open to interpretation ?

  19. Dearie me .

Has it been posted on here previously that Brian Nugent ( Whitedoghunch) had passed away ?

    When did Brian pass ?

I have a funeral of a close friend to attend next Tuesday at 11.00 am in Kirkcaldy ,therefore I can’t make Brian’s funeral .

Condolences to Brian’s loved ones .

    Rest in peace Brian .

  21. carpe diem 63 on

Darwin …the point is we are refereed DIFFERENTLY…accepting our limitations this season as results have illustrated …the very minimum we deserve is parity and consistency re decisions …do you honestly believe we have achieved this ?🤔

  22. DARWIN on 6TH MARCH 2024 11:19 AM

“We are just not good enough – simple as that!”

    You missed a bit.

“We are just not good enough, especially with key injuries to key players, to beat the opposition, the officials on the field and the VAR – simple as that!”

This still comes back to the upper management and recruitment though as we know the script and we know we have to be much better, not just better to account for the unlevel playing field OR we have to challenge the script that we all know so well.

    ‘Playing in a dangerous manner’

“A scissors or bicycle kick is permissible provided that it is not dangerous to an opponent”

Does anyone on here seriously think Yang’s action was an attempt at a bicycle kick, and if so was he trying to put the ball out for a throw in?

Or was it the Ol’ sideways version?

Or was it ‘serious foul play’? Another type of foul or misconduct?

I have sad news to bring about an ex-CQnr who hasn’t been on these pages for some time.

News has been forwarded that Whitedoghunch (Bryan) has passed away after a long spell in hospital. Brian was a source of info on restaurants and fine food all across Scotland and abroad. I remember him telling me he was associated with a Scottish Band in the 80s- not sure as a performer or manager- but he suffered badly from the effects of a road accident which affected his mobility, speech and even thought and mood. He used to live down the road from me but moved 15 years ago when his parents died. I had heard he was hospitalised but I knew no more until the sad news came through today.

Brian was capable of writing some difficult stuff on here but there were neurological issues and some understandable mental health issues behind that. In person, he was generous and put me in touch with a few fine places that my family enjoyed. His was a life curtailed by that accident; he had a lot of promise unfulfilled in a life that started so brightly for him.

    RIP WDH

Thanks for posting that message T,i got a text of PF Ayr around 11 this morning and was saddened on learning of his passing,he had serious health issues which he fought the good fight to overcome,he is now at rest,i will remember him as a vibrant character and fiercely independent with knowledgeable points of view in Celtic, food and wine and were eat out around Scotland on these pages or in company in Glasgow

Rest easy my friend Bryan Nugent Rip 🙏
