Paulo clicks

It wasn’t Celtic at their devastating best, but there was enough on show to reassure us that the malaise which had afflicted the champions in recent weeks is easing.

Brendan Rodgers chopped and changed who accompanied Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley in midfield, before handing Paulo Bernardo consecutive starts – and the team the chance to build some consistency. The Portuguese performed perfectly, pinching the opening goal to settle collective nerves.

The really swirls have been the fourth or fifth Celtic goal of the day, such was the volume and quality of chances passed up. At just the one goal down, Dundee were still on it until the late and effective cameo from Ireland’s Own, Mikey Johnston.

Aping Lius Palma’s signature move, Mikey cut inside from the left and unleashed a right foot shot into the fat corner. Minutes later he added a third.

Dundee were repeatedly cut open in the closing stages as the Tic’s passing game clicked.

Johnston should never play for us again, Rodgers has to be sacked, discard the 4-3-3, start playing in boiler suits, train with square balls……………

  2. Prestonpans bhoys on

Hun game in doubt because Ross County are travelling by bus today!

Good luck to them getting down the A9 in that storm 🙄

Good to see you back Paul! Best wishes to you and yours over the Christmas holidays.

Was a bit frustrating watching the first halfs against both Livingstone and Dundee mainly because we were unable to put the ball in the net. Watching the highlights last night though, thought that Celtic could easliy have scored five or six goals, and Palma and Kyogo were unfairly criticised on here for great efforts, the latter’s miss on the margins after a brilliant break. More of that at the weekend. Take the positives, five goals and two clean sheets, win on Saturday we go into the New Year top of the League, and they’re no.

  4. I’ll take that as a positive. Win on Saturday and we go 8 ahead. A wee fixture pileup building for the huns.

  5. Dundee along with 80% of the others, would get football stopped, this 10 men behind the ball, kick everything that moves, is not professional football. You dont see this in any other league.

    Dreadful spectacle

    A cheery thought, on a shit day😁

  7. I’m not surprised that the Ross County game is off.

Louise and I have just made it to Arbroath through lots of flooding on both main and side roads.

The sea up here is really rough.

By design, our holiday flat is right next door to a bar so we should survive the journey.

HS – I will be in touch.

  8. Their game being off tonight really plays into our hands if we win on Saturday.

I don’t think a home game against RC would have taxed them too much tonight, they’d almost certainly have wanted the game played.

8 points clear on Saturday is there for us.

  9. At 3- up on Saturday with 10 mins to go give Reo and Leil (spelling) a run out even that should get tester than the wide men we have.

    Good to see Mikey J score a couple….what’s that 2 or 3 goals in 6,7,8 years…wow.

    He is on fire.

    D. :)

  10. A wins a win and three points thank you bhoys….

The dens keeper gave us the breathing space we needed, those first two goals from a keepers point of view were shocking.

Hopefully kyogos confidence and finishing is back for the

    Rangers game, can’t see

Butland giving up goals easy…. But I live in hope.

  11. To be fair to Mikey Johnston he did test the Dundee keeper who was found wanting for all their goals. The ‘stats’ in Sky and BBC are nonsensical; not that Celtic weren’t wasteful at times after good build up play just the impression given from those ‘stats’ suggests we only had a handful of shots on target. Apparently ‘on target’ only counts if the keeper saves it, not for the 30 blocks by defenders! Don’t get me started on Carter Vickers being wrestled in the box by their keeper!

  12. Long before we played Dundee yesterday,I really was impressed with their left back on loan from Liverpool, also McCowan would also be a good addition to our squad,

    Shades of 2008.

Not taking into account Scottish Cup progression, Sevco have at least four more fixtures to fulfil in second half of season.

BTW Pablo – agree with article’s title.

The emergence of Paulo Bernardo in the last three weeks has been a bright spot among the gloom.

IMHO, he looks like he is understanding the system more clearly know.

These things take time (according to Morrissey)
