Payback for Turnbull Hutton

735

You all think you’re so smart, smugly laughing at the outcome of a game in a tournament you didn’t even know existed until recently.  Let me tell you, yesterday’s defeat of Newco Rangers was nothing short of calamitous for the road I hoped the club would take.

Ally McCoist is crucial to all the things I hope happens to Newco in the years to come.  He alone can deliver the hilarity waiting for when his team face full time footballers every week.  Who else could spend so much yet produce so little?  Who else would have the sheer brass neck to demand such a salary, even if partially deferred, in order to endorse the spivs as suitable recipients of season ticket money?  This guy is unique and of immeasurable value.

Yesterday’s defeat fundamentally weakens his position.  What now when, in true Rangers tradition, he stands in front of this year’s AGM thanking ‘yous’ for being the cream in his doughnut?  Will they still cheer at being patronised like applauding seals completely lacking in self-awareness?

Mark my words, anything which undermines McCoist is unwelcome.  A Ramsden’s Cup win would allow him to claim as much credit as he could waddle off with and would have upset no one.  They had a party at Ibrox planned, like it was 1975 all over again.  The humiliation must be significant.

The way forward for Newco Rangers is to put pressure on their board to release badly needed funds for the manager to spend in the hope of winning promotion from the Championship next season.

A word for Raith Rovers and their chairman Turnbull Hutton.  It was a Raith Rovers director who sat across the table from one of the Rangers clubs (I’ve lost track) to judge their failure to dispense their tax and other duties during season 2011-12.  McCoist then publicly demanded to know the names of the panel members.

It was Raith’s Starks Park ground which needed 24 hour security after receiving a threat to burn it to the ground following McCoist’s outburst.  Turnbull Hutton stood firm and was one of the voices which ensured the rules were applied as they stood.

Seville – The Celtic Movement

“Going into the second leg, it was all in Liverpool’s favour and on paper it was Celtic’s toughest test. That wasn’t to be the case though as Celtic achieved a very comfortable 2-0 at Anfield. Both goals were superb to top a fantastic victory. A low free kick from Alan Thompson and a wonderful strike from John Hartson were the difference in this game. Celtic went through to the semi-final 3-1 on aggregate.”

Celtic’s relatively slow response to the second Griffiths incident suggests they are taking it very seriously.

The problem now for Griffiths is that someone presumably got cash for selling the first story to the press, and , someone then trumphed it with the second. Folks now know that there is money in videoes of Griffiths behaving foolishly, so I won’t be surprised to see more revelations.

I hope the club take the appropriate time to consider the facts, and then act appropriately.

The amount of time spent at the training ground is a disgrace and it shows.

Perhaps if we wish to make progress in Europe, we need European coaches as, sure as shooting, our passing ability and ball retention beats us every time…….especially now that teams know how to play Sammi.

Whilst you will find a lot of horrible Tory governments and some excellent and some crap labour administrations, when the UK have united we have been occasionally brilliant. One of the proudest moments was when Churchill was defeated after the remarkable ww2 victory because the people had come together like never before.

labour created the NHS etc. it was brilliant.

So what are you as a nationalist offering me. Well as far as I can see no more Tory governments. But you see I am confused. The SNP have been bribing the electorate in Scotland for years. Council tax freezes are a regressive taxation ploy the Tories would be proud of. It’s all unsustainable but we are of course in denial.

I note you ignored my central accusation. That you are effectively here on behalf of salmond to divide and conquer. Even more interestingly is your use of the word unionist. That’s a bit like up you FACTS eh? Am I a unionist in thìś context? Yes I am. Does that equate with unionism of the Irish concept? No It doesn’t. But you want it to because you want to divide and conquer.

It is of course convenient to equate me to UKIP despite how absurd it is but you never addressed the point about FACTS. You are a FACT based person. You try to label me through FACTS in the hope that we don’t see the full facts.

It’s an old tactic, as it said before, used by Huns to justify the unjustifiable.

It’s a veneer most see through.

Menzo faces player mutiny at Lierse

    Date: 2nd April 2014 at 12:08 pm

Written by: Joe McHugh | Comments (6)

Lierse coach Stanley Menzo is facing an end of season revolt over his treatment of Tony Watt.

A number of senior players have indicated to the club that they will be moving on in the summer if the former Ajax keeper remains in charge.

Menzo has had a number of run-in’s with the on  loan Celtic striker who has been banished to train with the reserves with no prospect of playing despite scoring seven times in a five match run that steered Lierse clear of relegation.

The relationship between Watt and Menzo hit a low point before the away match at Kortrijk on January 25.

Following a clash between the two Menzo is alleged to have struck Watt before dropping him from the team.

Lierse captain Hernan Losada approached Menzo about the incident with the coach bowing to player power by reinstating Watt in the team with the striker scoring twice in a 5-1 win.

Watt kept his place in the side until after the 1-0 defeat at home to Genk on February 15, the following week he was on the bench away to Ostende before being banished away from the first team squad.

Menzo’s old school style hasn’t gone down well in the Lierse dressing room but his Ajax connections have largely kept him free from criticism.

Lierse finished the regular season in 12th place just four points above the relegation places.

The Belgian league is now split into three different sections with Lierse in one of the groups of four playing for a place in the Europa League.

After losing their opening play-off match away to Beveren morale at the club is at rock bottom with the remaining fixtures virtually meaningless.

And he came and was signed with previous, so he would have been briefed on what being a celtic player is about. If we come out with a warning and fine fair enough but he will be a lucky mhan if that’s all he gets . Based on that previous, I don’t believe he will heed the warning. Hope I’m wrong.

Maybes a time in foreign would help them.

It’s really no rocket science is it, as you say, our ball retention is shocking, the most basic of skills and we can’t compete, still when you are up against someone who trains twice as much it’s par for the course.

    kikinthenakas,

I was talking to a lad who travelled over to Glasgow with Jim recently.

He said that Mc.G was doing an extra day at Lennoxtown and waxed lyrical about the ” cutting edge” sports science practised there.

I think that part of the deal was that when the GAA season started he would revert to his Donegal commitments.

I haven’t heard any talk of him having left Celtic.

I think we are seeing the fruits of his labours emerging.

When he was appointed, a close relative of mine asked him in interview, what his role would be.

He encapsulated it by saying it was to tell NL which young players he could trust to break through…….not on ability, but on mentality.

Too many boys have fallen short of breaking through over the years.

I think that the quality of boys out on loan reflect his analysis, as do the emergence in the first team of Henderson, Fisher and O’Connell, for example.
