Payback for Turnbull Hutton

735

You all think you’re so smart, smugly laughing at the outcome of a game in a tournament you didn’t even know existed until recently.  Let me tell you, yesterday’s defeat of Newco Rangers was nothing short of calamitous for the road I hoped the club would take.

Ally McCoist is crucial to all the things I hope happens to Newco in the years to come.  He alone can deliver the hilarity waiting for when his team face full time footballers every week.  Who else could spend so much yet produce so little?  Who else would have the sheer brass neck to demand such a salary, even if partially deferred, in order to endorse the spivs as suitable recipients of season ticket money?  This guy is unique and of immeasurable value.

Yesterday’s defeat fundamentally weakens his position.  What now when, in true Rangers tradition, he stands in front of this year’s AGM thanking ‘yous’ for being the cream in his doughnut?  Will they still cheer at being patronised like applauding seals completely lacking in self-awareness?

Mark my words, anything which undermines McCoist is unwelcome.  A Ramsden’s Cup win would allow him to claim as much credit as he could waddle off with and would have upset no one.  They had a party at Ibrox planned, like it was 1975 all over again.  The humiliation must be significant.

The way forward for Newco Rangers is to put pressure on their board to release badly needed funds for the manager to spend in the hope of winning promotion from the Championship next season.

A word for Raith Rovers and their chairman Turnbull Hutton.  It was a Raith Rovers director who sat across the table from one of the Rangers clubs (I’ve lost track) to judge their failure to dispense their tax and other duties during season 2011-12.  McCoist then publicly demanded to know the names of the panel members.

It was Raith’s Starks Park ground which needed 24 hour security after receiving a threat to burn it to the ground following McCoist’s outburst.  Turnbull Hutton stood firm and was one of the voices which ensured the rules were applied as they stood.

Seville – The Celtic Movement

“Going into the second leg, it was all in Liverpool’s favour and on paper it was Celtic’s toughest test. That wasn’t to be the case though as Celtic achieved a very comfortable 2-0 at Anfield. Both goals were superb to top a fantastic victory. A low free kick from Alan Thompson and a wonderful strike from John Hartson were the difference in this game. Celtic went through to the semi-final 3-1 on aggregate.”

    I couldn’t agree more.

You could also add Sleekit standing up in a press conference with a bundle of blank A4 sheets of paper claiming it was filled with names of people involved in Scottish football betting on matches they were involved in.

Not one follow up question to a claim that is a serious breach of the rules and potentially implicated match officials as well.

Of course, ridiculing Sleekit for defending Black and for the fact there were no names on the sheets of paper was another option the media failed to take.

The media is Scotland is not worth a light. They can go on about Leigh Griffiths all they like, but I will not be dancing to their tune.

Good mornong , it was me that made the comment about Celtic players playing for scotland , it makes me sick because any good publicity for Scotland the SFA live off it yet look what they have done too our club the refs , the lies , the fines/bans compared to other clubs , the treatment of our manager , the cheating on behalf of Rangers , dont compare his response to mine , i stand bye what i said , he tried to change tact after being challenged by other posters , and btw the SFA and the media are at it again (LG) although he was wrong ( stupid ) in what he done , not having a go , just trying to show my reasons for feeling the way i do about our boys pulling on the Scotland shirt (proud moment ) it goes to show that we fans take the offending more serious than the players . L8rs ;))

Shocking what’s going on over there. What’s really bad is the lack of action (apparently).

To me it seems to be business as usual, and if there are improvements, there’s no publicity.

  11. Marrakesh Express on

The gutter press and in particular the DR have been taking free pot shots at CFC since Fergus walked into Parkhead. They knew he was bad news for the whole rotten establishment. We were then treated to headlines like Saddam and Thugs n thieves, and its been ongoing ever since. Burns, Barnes, Dalglish, Venglos, O’Neil, Strachan and most of all Lennon have all been criticised, demonised, villified or lampooned, probably at the behest of Murray and latterly Jack Irvine. Compare and contrast with media worship afforded to Murray (the man who single handedly did more than anyone to de-stable the national sport), Walt (the man who picked up Murray’s baton, and our hero McCoist (quite simply one rank bad manager).

We are no more than a punch bag for most of SMSM. Its okay to say ‘turn it off’ or ‘just dont buy it’, but thats not enough. If someone was consistently and unjustifyingly bad mouthing you or someone you loved, and doing it publicly, you would take action.

Do what Robert Kelly, Jock Stein and Fergus McCann would have done Mr. Lawwell, stand up for CFC and its support against these troublemakers.

  12. Marakesh I agree with your wider point. The club should make a point of attacking the media when they are simply trying to act in their normal bias manner.

However all of this doesn’t go back to fergus. It much deeper routed than that and is part of the sectarian scottish establishment. It is also orchestrated between the different media outlets and therefore is a conspiracy (and not just a conspiracy theory). I will give you two examples to illustrate this point. Firstly rangers sectarian signing policy. Not one media outlet tackled them in it. Not one. They all stuck to the party line that there wasn’t a catholic good enough even after we won the European cup. A second example is more modern surrounds the myth if the club v company and the curious case of Airdrie utd suddenly becoming airdrionains again overnight and across all our media.

What’s my point? Well what us important to me is that those trying to shove nationalism down our throats open their eyes to the horrible little country they want us to throw our lot in with.

    It’s not going to happen.

  13. Marrakesh Express

The Club should have an aggresive legally clued up PR dept that go after every piece of biased ,misleading untrue media muck. Defend the club and the brand. All the SMSM including the BBC should be banned until they start playing fair. We dont need them.

Murray did this .Anti rangers stories would quickly get stamped on and be dropped even though in their case they were usually true.

It would also help if there was a zero tolernance alcohol policy for the players and they kept out of pubs.

It is interesting to listen to the commentary right now about Hearts and their problems. All the reporting I’ve read has made reference to how, if Anne Budge’s deal does not go through soon, the CLUB could face liquidation. I don’t hear any of the Jambos I know bleating on about some imagined difference between club and company. They’re depressed all right, but to be fair to them they’re taking it…”on the chin”. I’m not even sure they the MSM have the self-awareness to be accused of acting in a deliberate manner – they have been so long in the pocket of the people at AyeBrokes that they think their reporting is normal behaviour.

The points you made last night re nationalism were bang on the money for me.

I restricted my anti msm piece to the time Fergus arrived, simply because most of the current LL were around then. Of course the problem is over a century old and this blog could discuss it all day.

Scotland’s dirty little secret is no longer a secret, but it seems the more the internet bampots expose things, the worse the LL get.

The Ibrox establishment has served as a hub for much of the ‘dirty secret’, but it didnt stop Salmond going to Parliament to plead for clemency on tax evasion charges for ‘the very fabric of Scottish society’.

    A right vote winner there.

  16. Celtic’s PR dept has sucked since, Fergus tried to

    brainwash Matt McGlone. imho

Fergus liked ‘puppets’ like the guy, McLean(easy-meat)

ye know, folk who weren’t too well versed on the social

demographic’s of Scotland nah, no for Fergus…he liked

folk who read out what, Fergus had jotted down on a sheet

    of A4 paper.

Neganon2 – Yer just a wee bit inaccurate when you say that

‘no one’ stood up to the huns in the media.

I give you the legendary hunskelper – Gerald McNee.

McNee was so despised by the huns that they banned him

for pointing out that, Souness hadn’t a clue tactically in Europe.

McNee was a constant thorn in the huns ass so to speak :)

Oh, and he was also a necessary thorn in the then, Celtic

    ‘boreds’ ass.

    Aye. Very good point.

The media are setting the agenda here. The same people who continually ignore big stories elsewhere, even events they have witnessed such as the ‘paedophile’ quip at an Ibrox press conference a few months ago.

I am happy to let the club deal with it. I will not have the SMSM taking the moral high ground.

    ________________________________________________________________________

Yer happy to let the club deal with it ?

What like they dealt with the – Riots in Dundee ? The mass destruction of Fir Park ?

Or, even worse…the ‘kettling’ at the Gallowgate ?

The Club as it stands is needing – the fright of it’s life – by being made to realize

that the Celtic support aren’t subservient sheep. Are they ?

As I said previously…apathy will rule the day at CP. Sadly.

I am not one who wants to see Hearts disappear. Every Club I am aware of has some obnoxious fans. Every Club I am aware of has a team which it hates above all the other followed by other Clubs in a kind of ladder of hate.Only one Club that I am aware of ( in UK) had an open sectarian policy. Hearts is not that Club. The Hearts fans I know personally all detest their Union Jack waving supporters and are, to a man, left wingers politically. They are good football supporters and love to beat Celtic because Celtic are THE team in Scotland. They also loved to beat Rangers because they were a big club.

I know some on here will have horror tales to tell about incidents involving Hearts` supporters. The same tales can be told about supporters of all football clubs.

For me, the only appealing aspect of Hearts being liquidated would be to watch the SPFL/SFA turning sommersaults in their attempts to avoid the precedents set when Rangers went into liquidation.

I couldn’t get a ticket for the SCSF in 1988 when we came back from the dead.

I ended up sitting in the Hearts end of the main stand with my scarf tied round

my waist but, I stuck out a mile cos…my hun pals used to say that I had a face

like the map of Ireland – whatever that means ?

Celtic end broke into of it’s most spine-tingling renditions of YNWA – it was awesome !!

The Hearts fella leaned over and wispered – “…you must wish ye were up there, eh ?”

At the end of the game he shook my hand and wished me good luck both for, the SCF and, my getting out safely. The bloke was a gent and for that, I was grateful. I moved along the stand – nearer the Celtic fans as the team came back onto the pitch(unusual for a SCSF) to thank the fans for the backing in what was an, incredible chapter in our history.
