Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

Sorry. I was joking because of the offender`s name. I didn`t think it was a red but I agree with you that Handling`s lack of protest supports your view . I still don`t think a Sevcoite would have received a straight red.

Much as I’m fearful in the uncertainty that Independence will bring. The certainty that will be visited on us by another Tory administration scares me witless.

It would appear that Mr Beatons sending off of a Hibs player has not had an intrinsic effect on the game.

Must only be a matter of time before Hibs are reduced to nine men. . .

  9. My goodness, if the SNP economic policy is half baked, what’s the UKs?

    An economic powerhouse?

What does sterling buy you on the world stage? I’d love to know.

    Ooops:-)

  13. The John Beaton appointment is a stake in the ground that the Refereeing Authority will do what they want irrespective how blatant it is.

How else would Beaton be appointed after the Albion Rovers debacle.

Officials with allegiance to teams should not be considered.

Fed up wring to this guy,but he will get another A.M.

Salmonds contribution into banking and deregulation pales into insignifigance compared to Darling.

    Doc

Not at all it’s a blog after all :-)

My point though is that ultimately the YES campaign are claiming that this plethora of diverse issues will be dealt with in an independent Scotland which is only achieveable by voting YES.

I think we could end up playing semantics here though Doc as we’re merely looking at the same thing from different angles.

    ————————————

That is my point, at least in part, this is a multi faceted issue, and needs to be looked at from all angles.

There may be one decision to come to, Yes or No.

Anyhoos, sorry for the tardy reply, was persuaded to hit the shops.

    (You know how that goes!)

  16. Initially, the referee`s bias for freekicks etc annoyed me but, as I watched, I began to smile as I realised that even against one of the poorest Hibs` teams in their history ( although they are playing OK tonight) , the ref STILL has to help his team. Sevco are not quite as bad as some on here claim but they are a poor outfit.

    JJ

  17. Still think we can turn it round tomorrow, but regardless at least I don’t have to watch this rubbish every week. Sevco will win nothing agaist fultime teams with 11 men

  18. Pfayr – you prefer the super duper full on economic policies of Westminster that have served all of us so well?

I have no vote but I don’t buy the economic arguments of the no camp either.
