Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

    bcw,

I was asked on here a few years ago about my opinion on independence, I like the idea but I don’t believe Scottish society is mature enough to deal with it, then along comes the OBB just to prove my point. Exiled Tim if your looking in I still don’t think we’re mature enough and I stand by my estimation of 50 years before Scotland will be anywhere near mature enough to be trusted to protect all its inhabitants.

50 years a lot to us and probably much more suffering under Tory rule but I honestly fear the alternative under the thumb of a populist sectarian racist. The torys don’t care who gets screwed its random, that can’t be said for this Scottish nationalist mob

I don’t need to watch any debate involving Salmond to decide

It’s a NO from me ….the SNP can keep their half baked economic policy

As opposed to the wonderful economic policies that have been foisted onto us for years.

You are having a fekin laugh, you are, arent you?.

Total, absolute tripe.Policies that have got us the lowest life expectancy in Britain.56 in Shettleston.Food banks.Bedroom tax.Half the children in Scotland living below the poverty line.

    These are not SNP statistics.

If all you can contribute is a hatred for Salmond, better to stay out of any reasonable debate.

Delaney’s, you dealt well with the chap, on Sunday night, who disagreed with you about how good the Clash were.

Joe did indeed come from a wealthy background but was definiteily a man for the ordinary person.

It would be great if its another memorable european night for us. We should send Cokey into the dressing room before the game he will get the players fired up.

Originally, I had assumed that Hearts and Sevco would be promoted. Now, I am not so sure. Hibs are miles ahead of what they were last season and Sevco are nothing special in that league. Will it still be considered the best League in the world if Sevco are struggling?

Another point we discussed was the most competitive league in the world ever.

He said it will be, and I mentioned it will be competitive, but 2 100 year old men in a 100m race would be competitive, lacking in interest or quality, but you won’t know who will win, or if the competitors will reach the end!

  26. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    BT,

During my discussion with exiled Tim all those years ago I said if the nats put up a constitution or even discussed a constitution as opposed to bullshit economic pie in the sky then there might be merit in it.

They chose wrong IMO and all we have is might sand maybes instead of guarantees about our rights. Worse they have shown that certain sections of Scottish society will be vilified if that’s what it takes to win the populist vote.

I believe if there was a yes vote it would take years for Salmond to allow a free election and not before he had caused irrevocable damage similar to what the torys are currently doing.
