Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

Nor do I have any such recollection.

Thatcher was ousted by her own party.

I thought the `79 vote was what he was referring to.

  2. Raberto67 yes bullying. There is no debate just an attempt to dehumanise no voters and belittle their views and concerns.

BT, its the only occasion my timing was perfect lol.

My heart says Yes but there has been no mention or very little of how the benefits system will be run if the vote is in favour of independence.

Hopefully, the game goes our way tomorrow night, we also need a bit of luck and the players doing their jobs.

Not sure Charlie should be risked after his first-leg horror show.

Legia will target him if he plays.

I can handle that, I think Ronny will stick with Charlie, as with Brownie injured he has been made captain, hence my thought process.

  9. Not sure about the bullying allegation about the Nats. I’m a Labour voter, but my best opportunity of a Labour government which doesn’t have to appease Middle England is to vote Yes for Independence.

Salmond is a mere conduit to a choice between SNP or Labour. A much better choice than Conservative, UKIP or New London Labour.

No bullying, just views being expressed passionately.

  12. It’s fine to be passionate but we have seen cyber Nat posters desperately trying to pretend they are celtic fans in a vain attempt to influence.

    Arch…,

How do you know I’ve got it wrong or don’t understand the gravity of the situation ?

Salmond got the offensive behaviour bill through, I just wonder what he’s got lined up when he’s unfettered by London.

    Raberto..,

I simply asked a question that no one knows the answer to, when will this free election come along ? Who will decide ? We don’t even have a constitution, so there is no defined time limit to ensure maximum limits for those in power.

It really is as simple as that, we hear about economic claptrap that could be destroyed by a few venture capitalists but we still don know when we will get the chance to vote for a new govt ffs.

We’ve got loads of good minded people rightly afraid of what the torys are up to and what will likely happen if we vote yes, yet they don’t appear to have taken the time to think about their own basic rights in a country in transition without a constitution to protect their own rights, too busy fighting stupid political arguments to see the real dangers ahead. FFS we’ve even got a load who think the offensive behaviour bill is nothing to worry about.

Sorry, while most are scoring points on politics and oneupmanship I honestly fear we are being led into discussing the wrong subjects, from day one we should have been discussing our new constitution and the Rights of every Scot eligible to vote, when that was done then there is nothing to fear, IMO those supporting the nats have been too stupid to see that hence the breakdown of open discussion and the descent into personal abuse on this subject. I’ve been very quiet on this subject for a long time and was open to persuasion until the OBB, that told me I could not trust anyone associated with the SNP to protect my liberty.

Independent Scotland means nothing if your second class.

I see some don’t understand the difference between voting for Independence and voting for Salmond…it’s simple…get out of the UK & chase him at next election…or…stay and get more of the same, with a slap for getting uppity thrown in to remind us who’s boss…

    ———————————–

Correct! There are many who think that a vote for independence is a vote for the SNP.

Not so; the voters in the subsequent Scottish general election would make that decision.

So take the opportunity to give the Scottish electorate the chance have its say. A once in a lifetime chance to get the Tories (who Scotland has not voted for) oot. To be able to have local electoral input is IMO a no brainer.

I think your concerns are unfounded but they’re your concerns and that’s fair enough.

My concern is that the whole of Scotland will continue to be treated as 2nd class citizens by a Westminster Govt that really cares not a jot about the country. Nor does it have any need to. That is a massive problem for me.

  25. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    weeminger,

I agree but can you tell me when this free election will happen if we vote yes ?
