Police being laughed at by grateful media, Jinky medal comes onto the market

973

Strathclyde Police seem unprepared to decommission the loose cannon that is providing the regular leaks of largely inaccurate information about Celtic fans to the press.  The country’s largest police force have become a regular source of material and hilarity for our media, perhaps best illustrated by their unattributed comment to the Scotland on Sunday, suggesting they plan to “smash the Irish Republican, Marxist, Green Brigade”.

While the police officially claim “these comments do not reflect the view of the Force” the damage is already done.  The stage is set for an inevitable confrontation by a group of supporters who now believe they are being unfairly picked upon (for being Marxist, good grief, I thought they all shaved and suited-up under Tony, including the men!), and a police force, which employs someone who has told the press they are picking on the Green Brigade and which is asked by the Government to challenge pro-IRA chanting.

All political chanting must stop, of course, but I don’t fancy being an officer on the ground who has to pick up the pieces after a very loose tongue has set a scene for confrontation.

Make no mistake, the police are being laughed at by grateful recipients of their media comments, who cannot believe the utter naivety of the Pitt St operation, I have heard this laughter first hand from more than one journo, but the consequences of such dire behaviour will be severe.

I would like to thank everyone who bid on the ebay auction for the Jimmy Johnstone medal. I’m really pleased to let you know that the medal has been withdrawn from sale. Thanks again and sorry if you had already bid.

We are not short of history at Celtic, but there are very few occasions a unique memento of the Greatest Ever Celt becomes available.  The medal is a 47-year-old slice of Celtic folklore, check it out on ebay.

  1. So now the european diddy cup will be worthwhile for Caddizzyland…. You can just imagine the turnaround

Full Time 3-0. Almost total domination in the second half. Last 10 minutes Marseilles lost the rag and had 2 sent off for cynical fouls.

The north of yesterday – yes.

The north of today – absolutely not.

2nd biggest party in the north = a party whose existence is soley to defend and champion our rights and a police force that is more scrutinised and transparent than any other in Europe.

To be fair, the goal-line assistant doesn’t award goals. He is there to advise the referee in such situations, and from the camera behind the goal, he can be clearly seen nodding his head in the direction of the referee and saying, “Yes, Goal.”

Read my post/posts again, you obviously didn’t grasp what I was saying, or didn’t understand the context of the posts.

I was talking about my black friends, who number more than my white friends btw, who are happy to be called whatever I call them, no racisism whatsoever, nothing derogatory whatsoever, and it comes back my way.

If my black friends are happy to be called a mean nigger, whatever,[ they refer to themselfs as niggers btw ], are they being racist ?

The Darkie word came from a bloke who many years ago lived in the Dumbarton part of the world, he was know as Sammy the Darkie, and from what I have heard from people who knew him, it was not racist, it was fact, he was black, and my use of the word Darkie was in that context, nothing racist at all, that was in fact his name that everybody knew him by, I’m saving you the bother of reading my posts again here btw.

I also said that any remark made, giving out about anyone because of their skin colour was out of order, did you miss that bit ?

Anyways, beter go and educate myself now, dearie, dearie me.

I heard Ferguson doing an interview where he said ‘it didnt really get harder or change no matter who was in the group’ which I took as being a fairly arrogant flippant comment.

He might have meant it differently then, he definitely would now.

  10. Mad night of football in the CL. I decided to watch the young hoops instead on CH67. They totally outclassed Marseilles and could have won by quite a few more. Tony Watt is quite a handful.

  15. My dear lady has just arrived home from a carol service along with my younger daughter who was part of the choir.

A few hundred yards from home the bizzies pulled her over for a “festive check”.

Requested she came out of the car, asked her where she’d been, name and address D.O.B. etc. Inspected the car, asked for vehicle registration documents, licence etc. Checked that she was indeed the owner of the car, has insurance etc.

This is where we are now? My wife and daughter were an easy target to get the rate of stoppages up during this period with little effort having to be expended on their part afterwards.

Wait for the looks on their faces at the team line up during the infamous europa cup anthem!!

  19. It is hard to see past the two Spanish teams for the Champions League – although Bayern and the Milan clubs will have something to say about that. But it is always good to see a couple of teams from the smaller countries getting through

  20. the long wait is over on

Neither Gareth Southgate nor the beefy guy whose name I can’t remember can bring themselves to say that Manchester United were , quite simply , rank.

Only Keano calls it right – the Spanish League is the best league in the world , not the English league.

His career clearly stalled because Rangers unselfishly dedicated all his training time on allowing young Dylan McGeough to shadow him and learn everything he knows from.

  22. the myth of the EPL starting to crumble? United especially were not in a tricky group, and City have outspent just about everyone put together.

    TET,

yer problem is a bit like mine, saying things in company doesnt come across the same online, in company, no one can take you out of context, no one will winde you up without facing the immediate consequences.

But the important it in that wee rant,i,s NO ONE CAN TAKE YOU OUT OF CONTEXT. On here, people have taken your post and spun an evil interpretation to their audience, told them thats what all Celtic supporters really think.

    Think about it :o)

    canamalar –

I have just re-read your post, and notice you specifically said “outside Scotland”. I first read that as meaning “overseas”.

You make a good point. I have often wondered why Celtic TV broadcasts live only to subscribers outwith the UK, rather than, as you say, Scotland.

I am pretty sure this is a policy of the club and has nothing to do with any broadcast rules. Technically there is nothing to stop them confining the restriction to Scotland, and would assume that they regard allowing the games to be broadcast live in England, Wales and Ireland as a revenue loser – ie encouraging supporters in such places to sit at home and watch Celtic TV rather than travel to games.

Personally, I would imagine travelling to Celtic Park from, say London, is about more than just the 90 minutes, and the fact that the game is on the internet – on a legal stream – is not going to force supporters to opt for staying at home.

    ——————————————-

It is not club policy. There is a UEFA/FIFA directive blacking out broadcasts in the country from 3 to 5 on a Saturday. The country is the UK.

Daft I know and perhaps one to challenge but as things stand the club would need to make a case.

The abilty to watch games in a local pub, if that is the consequence of the Portsmouth landlady winning her case to purchase games from overseas broadcasters, might bring about change as these artifical protectionist barriers get challenged, but as it stands Celtic cannot broadcast in the UK.

Big game in Madrid at the weekend, Real will resort to the hun tactics I fear, and will probably be allowed too, from a Barca viewpoint they really do need to win, as unlike the hun, I can’t se Real dropping too many points sad to say.

  27. tommytwiststommyturns on

Roy Keane telling the English what they don’t want to hear….the two Spanish clubs are better than anything the EPL has to offer.

If El Classico on Saturday is anything like the two Spanish Super Cup games in August, then it will be the best football you’ll see anywhere on this planet.
