Rangers Newco cause picked up by media

1266

The Daily Record today report: “Record Sport understands Rangers would fight tooth and nail against any move to impose more than the statutory 10-point penalty” in the event “the Ibrox side have to start again under a new name”, presumably if the existing company ceases to exist.

If the Record are, in fact, reporting Rangers’ position accurately, this is the first salvo in their campaign to gain control of the consequences of a corporate failure.

The Record go on to say: “Clubs who can’t exit administration by a CVA must hand over their assets to a new entity and after shares [in the SPL]are transferred to a new company agreement has to be reached with the SPL over a return to the top flight”.

The glaring observations from this aspiration is, of course, that agreement does not have to be reached with the SPL over a return to the top flight, and that clubs who cannot exit administration by a CVA (Creditors Voluntary Agreement) must dispose of their assets to the benefit of the unsecured creditors.

The debate is framed by the newspaper to suggest a range of outcomes of between 10-25 points is possible for Rangers Newco FC to pick-up the SPL shares and league position of the existing Rangers FC, with a 25 point deduction being wholly unpalatable to the new company.

There must be absolutely no presumption that a newly formed company, who happen to own Ibrox, are entitled to parachute into the SPL ahead of the current Scottish Football League members, or ahead of an existing SPL team in a relegation spot.  In the event of a club failure the league can and, if necessary, must complete the season with 11 teams only.

Scottish football cannot establish a system whereby an oligopoly can vote on a system which stiffs creditors and prejudices competitors outside of the oligopoly.  Football across the world is trying to clean up its reputation, we cannot allow Scotland to become a laughing stock.  Let your club know your feelings on how they should vote when the time comes. It’s time for fans of Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, St Mirren, Hibernian, Motherwell, Dunfermline and others to make their voices heard.

Aye, I would, just like every single one of us would, you never know, it’s a small world.

I had intended coming over for the derby game on the 28th, flights and time constraints put paid to that, will defo make a game later in the season, so you never know, a beer or two I will have anyways.

    ==========================

When you do get over, be sure to let me know – a beer or two sounds good.

Damn it… Against my better judgement I’m getting myself embroiled in thinking about how to influence other teams responses to any post RFC situation…

My heid tells me they won’t get anything more than a slap across the wrist and will continue in SPL. Actually having weighed it up most of tonight, I have a sneaking feeling that Celtic Board will be Huns biggest Allies when it comes to the crunch.

I would write to Lawwell seeking clarification but no matter his response I wouldn’t believe it. So , no point.

Instead I am focussing my efforts on the sports Editors of Aberdeen journals, Dundee courier, northern Scott and Inverness Courier.

I’m avoiding central belt teams and going to play on the strong anti- Old firm feelings held by teams North of Perth.

I’m going to propose fans ask the Boards of Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee how they will respond to any Hun administration. I know these clubs need Hun game revenues but they also feel stiffed by OF taking bigger cut of TV revenues etc. Any vote to allow Huns immediate re-entry perpetuates this inequality.

I’m going to try to tee up these news papers to do a fan survey in advance of any HMRC decision.

Celtic and Rangers are perceived by these teams to be two cheeks of the same @r5e…

Time to exploit that. The end justifies the means.. Don’t trust the OF!

Somebody help. looking for a holiday in tenerife in december. All inclusive with 2 kids below 5. never been before. Any info welcomed as i am stumped with what is good and bad

    ————————————————————

2 tried and tested all inclusive recommendations for that type of family holiday.

Sandos San Blas Hotel Reserva Ambiental & Golf – just next to Golf de Sur, 5 minutes from the airport. 8 pools, good food.

Luabay Costa Los Gigantes Hotel – 40 minutes from the airport. It has recently become a “holiday village” in summer months since I last visited but also very good.

Good reports also about the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje but haven’t stayed there.

    Hope this helps.

    FYI

If you go on Youtube and put in “the nobs” a whole Led Zep world opens up before your eyes…you name it its their video audio bootlegs immense……if its to old skool tell your Dad……….see below

During this tour, the cover for the band’s debut album met with controversy. At a 28 February 1970 performance in Copenhagen, the band was billed as “The Nobs” as the result of a threat of legal action from aristocrat Frau Eva von Zeppelin, descendent of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin creator of the Zeppelin aircraft, over use of the ‘Zeppelin’ name.[1] Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page commented to the music newspaper Melody Maker that Frau Eva von Zeppelin initially took issue during an early Led Zeppelin concert performance in Copenhagen in October 1969, when she tried (unsuccessfully) to stop a television appearance. The aristocrat angrily described the group as “shrieking monkeys”.[2]

As a gesture of good will, the band invited her to meet with them at a television studio. The meeting was apparently a cordial one.[2] However, upon leaving the studio, her anger reignited when she saw the cover of the group’s first album – the exploding Hindenburg aircraft. As Page recalled:

When she saw the cover she just exploded! I had to run and hide. She just blew her top.[2]

Frau von Zeppelin felt the band’s use of Zeppelin was insulting and dishonoured her family name. As a result, hostility toward the rock group continued on their next tour of the country in early 1970 by threat of a lawsuit, unless they agreed to change their name while working there. While Peter Grant (the band’s manager) was not normally passive when faced with a confrontation, it was decided to appease the aristocrat by temporarily changing the group’s name.

One name speculated in the national press was “Ned Zeppelin”, which Jimmy Page found humorous. After some discussion, Grant and Page settled on the tongue-in-cheek name The Nobs, a playful pun on the name of their European promoter, Claude Nobs.[3]

The controversy in Copenhagen was considered advantageous to Led Zeppelin early in their career, as the incident gained them worldwide publicity. The band’s choice of names was widely seen as an expression of the band’s likability and wit.

  20. Cultsbhoy,

Your post re rangers administration raises an interesting point for me.

First, as a Celtic fan , I couldn’t giveva toss about the other team in Glasgow.

If we do our job, by default that takes care of everyone else.

However, the recent ‘debate’ about our response and the response of other teams to something that may or may not happen raises an interesting discussion.

What if it does happen , and what if the other teams put a condition on the support for denying the other team in Glasgow a re-entry ?

What if they ask for a re-distribution of SPl voting rights, or a re -distribution of TV money.

All of above is based upon if and buts.

But , I am a great believer in the law of unintended consequences, and as such we should be ‘careful what we wish for ‘.
