RARE CELTIC FOOTAGE CAPTURES THE PASSION OF POSTECOGLOU

1

ANGE POSTECOGLOU was only six months into his Celtic managerial role when he was presented with the opportunity of winning his first silverware.

Hibs stood in the way of the Greek-Australian and his players lifting the Premier Sports League Cup at Hampden on Sunday December 19.

Postecoglou knew he was under extreme pressure to deliver a victory after the team had limped through the previous season without a trophy for the first time in 11 years. It was a wretched campaign that saw changes at the top at Parkhead and a monumental squad revamp.

HAMPDEN HALLELUJAH…Ange Postecoglou grips the newly-won League Cup after his breakthrough triumph.

Twelve players arrived in a whirlwind summer of transfer activity while key figures such as skipper Scott Brown, top scorer Odsonne Edouard, versatile Norwegian international Kristoffer Ajer and Scotland playmaker Ryan Christie headed for the exit.

Celtic have released rare footage of Postecoglou making an inspirational dressing room speech to his troops before the grand finale against the Easter Road side.

The manager’s passionate words were certainly taken on board by his players who responded magnificently to losing a goal just after the interval to win 2-1 with two exceptional strikes from Kyogo Furuhashi in a dramatic second-half.

One down and two to go!

No doubt Big Ange will have other influential words to impart upon his players with the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup on the radar.
