News (confirmed by his club) that our next Champions League opponents Juventus have opened negotiations with Athletic Blibao striker Fernando Llorente, ahead of a possible free-transfer move in the summer, appears to put recent fantasy stories about Gary Hooper supposedly moving to Turin in the correct context. Liverpool, who several newspapers also ‘reported’ were interested in Hooper, signed a different striker this week.
The relentless pillage of Celtic player’s names used to sell newspapers is wearisome, probably more so to those at the club hoping to convince Hooper, and Victor Wanyama, to sign new contracts. Chances of re-signing Hooper if he thinks Juventus and Liverpool are about to bid for him: 0%. Chances if it’s relegation battlers from England: considerably higher. I see a new front has been opened today on Beram. We have to ensure another 28 days of this nonsense.
Llorente is a current Spanish international and played a huge part in Atheltic’s march to the Europa League final last season, but I would not be too concerned if Juventus tried to secure him this month. Moving to Turin is notoriously challenging for strikers and Llorente has never been based outside of the Basque country.

Signing George or Ira Gershwin would be a Biscuit Tin Pan Alley Signing
SAOL
You should try Dundee.

Anyone heard Darren Bent on loan for 6 months?
This “Rami” who is by all accounts ready to sign with us… is he of the Stairheid clan?
The Milan player kicking the ball away towards his abusers because he was getting racist abuse is nothing new.
Celtic reserve keeper Jim (John) Foley did the same Circa 1936.
Difference was Foley was found guilty by Edinburgh court and given fine or imprisonment!
The last huns signing was Celtic and look what happened to thems.
Gershwin.mmmm
Is it true that Chuck forgot tae buy the Luvin Cup?
Or did TGEF drap and thereby liquidate it and its dubious contents?

BRILLIANT.. well said.. The writing of Wilson in particular in the Herald is incredible. Never objective or correct re Sevco. Contradicts himself from June and December 2012 with his end of year piece.. If the editors of the paper are happy with that , it tells you all you need to know about the paper..
Grant never even mentioned Minty in his summation of Sevco at yr end!!
But it’s great I ve all this free time now..

I thought I was no longer astonishable! From KDS:
The way forward for SPL clubs is to acknowledge that the patronage of the vast and fervently loyal Rangers support is the engine on which Scottish football runs.
This means that these clubs must recognise Rangers supporters as VIP customers and woo them accordingly.
It remains to be seen if they have the humility, as well as the good sense, to do so.
http://billmcmurdo.wordpress.com/2013/01/03/spl-clubs-and-the-big-lie-that-could-destroy-them/
I see Kelvin Wilson has fallen foul of the SFA’s new disciplinary procedure “trial by bigoted pundit”.
I don’t know what loyal hostlery Craigan and Burley drink in but they won’t have to put their hand in their pocket for a while.
SFTB – was reading back and read you post this afternoon.
In paying regular share dividends Celtic are not unique but are part of a very small group of clubs who do pay divs.
As I have said before celtic are the only club owned by a billionaire where the billionaire wants to make money from his investment.
This isnt illegal but the support should be aware of it and wary of intentions.
Celtic will be – how did Lawwell say it – “in funds” following the champions league run. If we sell anyone else we will simply be more “in funds”. The question is – what are we going to do with these funds.
They wont spend money in the transfer window. My bet would be increased dividends. If thats the case and they try and maintain SB prices as they are it would be an utter disgrace.
We await the answer with interest – celtic cannot hide the income they have had this year – they wont be able to manufacture a loss or a net debt. So I am fascinated to see what happens next…..
I cannot see us selling Kayal I can see us selling big Victor in the summer and Kayal will get his place in the first team so if Norwich are interested I think they are wasting there time.Another Celtic player interesting other clubs must be big Fraser as he just gets better and better excluding Easter road of course.H.H.

How small is very small?
Does the billionaire Make money from his investments or does he get a return smaller than he invested?
If we were paying out exceptional dividends, would there not be a great rush to buy Celtic shares? Is there?

You seem to be so unhappy when Celtic are having a great season on all fronts…(and the rankers died)…can we, therefore, assume that, if we have a poor season, you will be delighted …..either way, I’m afraid you talk a load of old shoite at times….
SSB would give MOTY to terry butcher ……. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Huberta and 67heaven
Excellent stuff
The Boy Jinky-I’m sure Sevco will want to pay their respects to a long serving Director as Hugh Adam,a minutes silence/applause i’m sure will happen…………..

I reported on here before that there are two pictures on the walls of the home dressing room at Ibrox.
One is of the queen.
And the other is……also of the queen.

No that queen!!
I meant Paul O’Grady……
Have we just signed George Gershwin?
Must be a fair age now…
Silly season has started already. No chance Hooper or Victor will leave before the Juve game. I fully expect them to move on in the summer but not before.
As for Kayal, it’s probably more mischief making from the rags though if someone bid £5 million for him I wouldn’t be surprised if we take it, notwithstanding his recent upturn in form. The whole “moneyball” concept depends on selling players at just the right time, when you can get most money for him and TBH I can’t see us getting very much more for him. Of course, this is all moot if it is just typical tabloid trash.
Good to see that we should be getting some cover at LB with Gershon, hopefully we can add a creative central midfielder and a left winger as well though that’s probably being too greedy!
Sure its been commented on before but I just read a report on yesterdays game in one of our newspapers,it had been left in work, the reporter thinks the ref called all the bookings and the penalty right, what chance have we got when they are prepared to deliberately ignore the evidence in front of their eyes, thank god I don’t buy any of these rags

You need to do a little more reading before you press ‘post’.
Dividends are paid ONLY on the Preference Shares issued by Fergus, and the Convertible Prefs issued by the club in the 2001 offer, which were alloted to any and all subscribers at those times.
The Board have no discretion on the contractual dividend these shares pay, being 3.24p per share in the 1995 issue, and 5p per share in the 2001 issue.
Individual investors may elect to swap dividend for Ordinary shares. Or not. This is defined in the Scrip scheme the club adopted many years ago.
A dividend has never been paid on Ordinary shares in the ‘modern’ era. It is unlikely that this will change any time soon.
Easier though to put up a post that doesn’t involve thinking or reason, which is actually unlike you (FWIW)

I think its worth remembering that Alex Thomson was never really that interested in Rangers or it’s fans. His interest was in the efforts being made by the Authorities and the press to allow them to get away with it.
Regardless of how much you agree or disagree with his most recent blog, there aren’t many other journalists making sure that it’s still a story. Most of the msm are desperately trying to make people forget.
