    Thats good to hear

I did the double which was unlucky. But I went back in on the Squire later on.

Last night’s discussion, what’s your view?

My point is/was that selling council houses to tenants is in itself not a bad policy ..provided more council houses are built.

Of course that obviously hasn’t happened and you end up with a scarcity of council houses

I have been jinxed, anytime I put up a horse its nowhere.

Need to get back on track

  3. WITS 12.38am

I work beside Dallas of this parish, I read the pages on my way to work this morning … and my opinion … people writing stuff that from the comfort of their own homes …. right to buy gave my mum & dad (who couldn’t afford to buy) so my sister bought the family “home” hopefully us buying our house gives “Miss GFTB” a starter for one… ma maw & da had heehaw so I canny be bothered with the preachers preaching from the comfort of their own mortgage … I still live in my scheme and will never move … I find it patronising for some to “type” as if they know who others live ….sorry for the rant

  4. What is the Stars on

    GFTB

I can see both points of view.

Giving council tenants a chance to buy their own homes..GOOD , gives people ( who otherwise may not afford it) a chance to buy their own homes.

My mother grew up in the same council house that I did. She had the chance to buy, she took it and it worked well for us.

Not replacing housing stock sold off by councils. BAD,leads to chronic housing shortage, causing homelessness and all the problems that go with it.

I Don’t beleive the propaganda that the government/councils cant afford to build.

    They can, they just won’t.

  5. What is the Stars on

Anyway our resident Rees Mogg ite will be along shortly to explain how its all the fault of those nasty immigrants.

Great win for Celtic, so on that happy note I’m off to bed.

Just read your post… ma daughter is 10yr old she relates to my mum & dads house as hers :-)

As you posted some are different but I just didn’t like the way some posted a bit aloof …. about the people who “right to buy worked for” my parents will be turning if they they thought these home owners thought they were tories :-)

  12. A very happy St Andrews day to all .

The patron saint of Cyprus, Scotland, Greece, Romania, Russia and Ukraine.

Hopefully the latter two countries can feel the love.

    HH to all.

  13. Any trophies stripped yet ?

Are the Resolution 12 Requisitioner Rebels still lying underneath the Old Firm PLC’s bus ?

Are 53,000 season ticket holders still filling oot the stadium, to prop up the Old Firm PLC board ?

Are the died, jiggery poakery, same club, civil unrest threatener’s, still laughing up thur cuffs because, they pulled off the greatest sporting swindle in history, all because Celtic supporters who don’t have the backbone to ‘rebel’ against their own PLC board’s, inaction, or, collusion with the great swindle, but, instead, these supporters will sit idily by, and watch, Res12Rebels, and their mountains of, Supreme Court backed evidence, being swept under the carpet, and the PLC’s slow manoeuvre to the door of Brendan, the ‘fudge’ who was brought in to, make supporters look the other way as the deceitful PLC sneaked the £49:00 Old Firm game back onto the fixture list, and, at the same time, get Celtic’s innocent, but, easily mugged supporters, to rubber stamp, Sevco FC, as being the same club as, Rangers FC, with the purchase of each £49:00 ticket, but, and most importantly, all of this deceitful scheming, was to get the Old Firm PLC board off the hook, in terms of addressing the ‘same-club’ issue.

The “real” rebels, Sinn Fein, emptied the seats at Stormont, and pulled the house down whilst the ‘crimes’ are being investigated, and Sinn Fein will not return to, a, corrupt, sectarian, bigoted establishment.

So, why don’t Celtic’s supporter’s, get themselves a board who’ll do the same as, the “real” rebels, Sinn Fein ?

I mean, its not as if the Celtic supporters don’t have, Supreme Court backed evidence. So, why not ?

Silently sucking it up, will lead to Celtic eating itself.

    Anywye,…..Weebawbabbity, God bless. √

Well done last night Cellic. √

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  14. Some poor decisions with the final ball, but a fine result and a decent performance. To have it in our own hands at this stage is fantastic. Well done Brendan and the Bhoys and of course the fans who must have been baltic.

  15. Good happy fFriday morning from a wet, blustery and cold Garngad

Sandman- great summary as usual, top notch sir.

Now onto Sunday and get the first trophy in the bag?

  16. I had some mates in watching the game and we kept TV on to see a bit of the manky mob game.

My god, my local junior team could have beat those 2 teams. Rank Rotten they were.

The easiest group in the competition and they are floundering.

We will pump them in December.

Celtic FC tell them to RAM their tickets, keep our bhoys and Ghirls safe.

If the Orc hordes get that pumped up like last night, against a shite Spanish team what will our 800 Spartan Celts face, someone will get seriously hurt.

Ps never seen any away fans at the bigotdome last night.

    D. :)

  17. Last night was a 1-0 going on 3-4…⚽️??

If we had been more clinical in the final third the scoreline would have drastically changed.

All in all a good solid away performance in Europe .

Still got a lot to do to go through mind you, but let’s worry about that later.

    Bring on the Sheep.?

Jobo I hope you enjoyed your travels.

What’s happenening with the good ole EK weather today?

  18. Good morning friends and a Big Happy Payday/Pensionday Friday to you all from a rather bleak, damp and dreich looking East Kilbride. Welcome to Cup Final Weekend.

Back to work for me this morning. But always grateful that I still have a job to go to. Those holidays don’t pay for themselves, you know ;-)

I haven’t read every post ref housing but I’m confident I read enough of them to say it was very reasonable posts being made by very reasonable posters.

Namely that being able to buy your Council house was certainly transformational for many families. But the fact that local authorities were banned by central Govt from reinvesting the proceeds in new stock led to a profound shortage of affordable housing.

Nothing wrong with families trying to move up the ladder, generation by generation. Most all of us on here are products of that humble ambition. Nothing wrong with government trying to facilitate it. Everything wrong with government policies that then ‘shut the trap door’ on those who didn’t manage to make the leap.

  20. I didn’t actually think it was possible for me to feel so relatively relaxed watched Celtic 1-0 away in Europe in a must win game!

My dad was much more nervous, pacing around. I think the commentary was helping to make him more jittery!

    Fair play

But I would suggest reading “most” of the posts and am still waiting on a council house resident having an opinion it’s very easy having an opinion with a mortgage, bad mouthing the “Tories” wether it’s Maggies Mob or Blair’s boys…. it’s inverted snobbery at its worst

Am a bit annoyed at maself because this site for me should be about football but …. sometimes a subject is a bit too personal .,,,, just leavening my good ladiies right to buy “flat” to drop Miss GFTB off at her “right to buy” aunties house so I hope all the house owners in their estates have a lovely day

    Council Schemers CSC :-)

A mortgage is a mortgage although reading on here some mortgages mean more than others …. or maybe some mortgages are more entitled than others …. the irony on these pages will never be lost

  24. Gerryfaethebrig on

And for the record the “councils” are actually buying houses back quite handy for some that can’t afford their mortgage

    Roll on Sunday ….

    Team news

    Broony starts :-)

  25. Delighted after our game and before the missus twigged Our Game had finished I let the huns game on in the background.

I had to keep reminding myself that The Good Guys won and the huns didnae…….

The difference in the tone and sentiment of the commentaries were remarkable.

We were continually reminded of the If’s buts, an’ mibbes of qualification / progression while the carnival atmosphere amidst the cavemen choir was lauded and revelled in…….. there were little or no breaks in the inevitable trajectory of hun success…..

Another thing – the execrable Greegsy was , from the first off, bummed-up to high heaven. He made some saves and they were good and kept them in it, but the constant praise smelt a bit………one would almost think they would be contemplating sellin’ hum shortly…….

The post match reaction for us was somewhat, well they survived , nervy finish etc while the huns were superstars and had just lifted another trophy kinda thing………….

    Parallel universe stuff.

  26. My friends in Celtic,

Give our record; A win away in European football must be unconditionally welcomed.

It is one of these games where the performance is secondary and the result is everything.

Subsequently I am slightly bewildered about the amount of posts post game commenting on the huns. They far outnumber Celtic posts.

All posts are welcome and diversity is fundemantial to this blog, but nevertheless it is surprising.

Subconsciously do we promote the “oldfirm” analogy, although publicly stating otherwise.

No criticism intended, only an observation.

    HH to all.

  27. Morning buoys from a very wet and dull ML5.

    Top night last night,

I’m sorry mhate, I’m not seeing what you are.

I would expect that many on here probably do have a mortgage, as reflective of CP on a Saturday and Scottish society.

I would expect that many on here probably struggle to make ends meet at times, as reflective of CP on a Saturday and Scottish society.

And I wouldn’t know and wouldn’t care what kind of house anyone lived in, as long as it was good for them and their family. And I’ve not really seen posts or posters saying otherwise.

Indeed the beef about council houses wasn’t that they were bought, it was the lack of their successors and the impact on society that that had.

That’s not inverted snobbery in my book. That’s just showing care for all your fellow citizens. A Tim way of thinking.

Have a good and peaceful day Sir

We all read words differently …

I just thought others were judging “right to buy” without maybe (because I don’t know) being on that situation

As for the “government” Tory or Labour … two cheeks of the same backside in my humble opinion … the lot of them should have been jailed for their “expenses” shame… again apologies for posting non-football related stuff but it’s something I feel a wee tad strong about :-)

  33. Bankiebhoy1

Slightly ….. more seriously…. I seldom see the stickies apart from when we play them but I did see some of last night’s match.

    What to take from it?

Villarreal ain’t what they used to be….sadly.

The FOD ain’t anything like as bad as they used to be.

    Morelos looks ‘fitter’ and slimmer.

Lafferty remains a sharp elbowed bassa with an occasional thunderbolt shot and will be launched at our defence no doubt

MCGregor remains as great a goalkeeper as he is appalling human being.

Coisty, Millar et al are unable to ‘see’ a Stamp even on replay. To the extent that Rob McLean said the ref ‘should take a look at himself’!
