There is something curious about the England national team. While pretty much every other country around England’s calibre select players, on merit, from clubs large and small, for decades England appear caught emperor role, seldom selecting players outside a top clutch of clubs.
This made Southampton striker Rickie Lambert’s recent selection memorable, despite the fact that his club sit comfortably above several of England’s heavyweights, significantly as a consequence of Lambert’s play.
Fraser Forster has been the best goalkeeper in Britain for a year, but he is English, and he plays domestic football for the Scottish champions, so despite his Champions League credentials, England Roy Hodgson has not capped him.
With the incumbent “England’s number 1” producing ample material to have most national team managers hide their eyes, no matter what Hodgson thinks of his preferred keeper, today’s news coverage suggests he has been boxed into a corner. If he plays Joe Hart in Brazil, and the keeper performs to his current level, Hodgson will carry the can for being the last man in England to see the obvious. England managers have a long record of having to deal with strong media sentiment coming to bear on their selections.
I’d like to see Fraser get the recognition he deserves. It would also be good for Celtic to be able to offer not only Champions League football, but also the chance to gain international recognition, at an ever-higher level. Holding onto him is another story, but all of those who were so upset when we passed on Stipe Pletikosa to take Newcastle’s third choice will not be too upset at that.

Fraser on SSB fair gave nearly every Hun in MSM pelters . Hilarious
Just been reading back on some Chick Young gems.
My favourites are as follows:
#3
I was driving along the Edinburgh bypass one evening around the late 90s when the BBC Scotland news report ended with a sports report by the bold Chick, who ravenously gave us the sensational scoop that, “As I speak, Allessandro del Piero is locked in talks at Ibrox with Sir David Murray and my information is that the Italian superstar will be paraded at the stadium within the next 48 hours.”
#2
On the night Jorge Cadete was paraded at Celtic Park, Chick came on BBC Scotland radio news and told us that “H-O-R-H-Y Cadete had signed for Celtic.” Obviously he thinks Lisbon is in Spain.
#1
After Craig Whyte had been hounded out of Ibrox, Shortbread held a question and answer session about the situation at Rangers. It was either Love Street or Rugby Park. I’m not sure which. Anyway, Traynor and Young were present alongside a couple of guest pundits. Chick’s first words to the audience and radio listeners were “Let me say right away, I smelt a rat the first day Whyte walked into Ibrox.” The audience laughed dierisively and even Traynor was moved to ridicule his words.
so looks like the easter road is the venue for their big day………..how they must be gloating thus depriving celtic gate money……rentokil after match clean up not now necessary

nice photo mate.

so celtic are one step closer to developing the front envois of stadium, having moved the ticket office and now readying the old ticket office and school for demolishing. hopeful this time next year, the new bespoke building is up and making celtic a little more money to invest, while offering visitors and fans more and better facilities.
all paid for by c/l participation, player sales and good management of our financial affairs at celtic park. or in other wards honest to ghod hard work. will never catch on in the south side of Glasgow
hopeful the very beginning of our boards ambitions to grow celtic into the powerhouse it should be. who knows next a hotel, social club, pubs, restaurants, fanzone, food outlets, officer etc…
wee Fergus laid the foundations hopefully DD and PL can build on those foundations

Resolution 12 is no anti-board, nor is it about the board.
Who’s that standing beside Morrissey?
Jorge Cadete, who has no track record of coaching in any form whatsoever, has used a newspaper to put himself forward for a job at CP. Neil Lennon has made no comment on this issue whatsoever.
Just a correction in case you are inclined to believe the fanciful notions of people who have little care for accuracy.
Takes two minutes. Please do it and spread it around.

Morrissey23rd, on initial viewing of your expertly photoshopped picture I thought it had been done inside the stagnant vaults of the bigot dome but then I remembered, oor craig sold off the silverware along with the arsenal shares and the rusty bike.
Therefore I conclude that you held a knife to the dishevelled Peter Lawwel and made him pose for your macabre self gratification in the expectation you would use it against those who know you do actually hold a deep rooted hatred for this poor man.
Is this the case?
Michael @ 00:50
I think you post shoite. I do go to the games.
I will support your better plan to out the SFA. What is it?
FFM – I’m the only conspiracy theorist in the village) @ 00:59
The thing the anti-resolutions posters always miss is it was not a handful of people who put this resolution onto the AGM. There was 176 fans who signed support for this resolution. Most of them go to games. Our target was 100/110. We only stopped collecting signatures as we ran out of blank ones for supporters to sign and we beat the required minimum needed. These fans came from a wide-range of the Celtic support. Do the anti resolution 12 poster hate all those fans? Rhetorical question BTW.

I will tell you the photographer said, “Say cheese!”. I said “Spivs”. That is a genuine smile from him in response to that. You can guess who we had just been talking about.
Morrissye23rd………………………haud oan…………..eh eh eh? Wis it tony?
‘GG @ 01:46
Nice post.
I have hoped to hear what the reasons are of who do not support the resolution, so I can counter them. To date. I have not heard/seen anything that has not been regurgitated from Scottish MSM or from the boards reply. On CQN it has mostly been from wilful misunderstanding of the resolution or because of the personal dislike of Canamalar or myself.
Michael @ 02:01
Ah! You listen to the SSB. That is too intellectual for the likes of scum like me.
M23, you’re going to confuse the blog by time stamping yesterdays posts on this blog.
“GG @ 01.46 Nice post” sticky “yesterday” on that and we will know you don’t have a tardis.
HH Bruv.:–)
Seriously, can we not bring an end to this tit-for-tat in-fighting over the resolution? It was done to death yesterday and long before that.
Do we really need it every day?
If some people are against the resolution, so what? It’s their prerogative. This isn’t FollowFollow.
Just let it go eh?

I’m sooo stoopid I am a day behind.

Another fine post by GG.

“Morning all
Personally i find it illogical that any Celtic supporter would be against the resolution. Why would anyone be against finding out the truth. How far did the Celtic PLC pursue the issue, was the info given to them at the time by the SFA factual and unprejudiced?
Downside to our knowing any of these facts? ehhh – none!

Tom McLaughlin, I’ve no issue with those who oppose resolution 12, as you say it’s their prerogative. I do have an issue with ignoramuses who post on here in the fashion that TD 67 did last night though.
I was labelled a board and Peter Lawell hater, neither of which is even close to the mark. I challenged the poster twice and got a response I would associate with scolded child or a feeble geriatric.
So, no when people on here try to label me and package me up with their misguided prejudices, I’ll take the chance to respond.
Anyway, how are you?
ACGR –
I now realise Morrissey is responding to comments posted 24 hours ago and was not simply keeping the fight going.
Of course you have every right to respond to such allegations. I was really talking about Morrissey stoking the fires, but as I say, I can see what has happened.
I am doing well thanks.
Back to hospital next Tuesday for final verdict from the surgeons but I have already been told by my GP that the surgery was 100% successful. The cancer has not spread and was completely removed along with the prostate.
So I expect to have that confirmed on Tuesday and thank my lucky stars.

“Just popped in to say voted by proxy online, very easy to do, for all resolutions including the living wage and the SFA resolution.
Wont make the AGM but no matter done and dusted.
Hail Hail!
RobinBhoy”
Cheers! You can still proxy someone to attend the AGM on your behalf. Just they can’t vote when the poll is called.
I was at Celtic park today to discuss the AGM. There will be a show of hands. The more people in the room the better. There will then be a vote. We have requested a count is done.
