The SFA today confirmed that they have been able to confirm Paul Murray Fit and Proper to run a football club. After Mr Murray’s previous tenure as a football club director, I’m absolutely delighted he will again be working his magic. At Ibrox.
The SFA Professional Game Board specifically considered Murray’s “intentions as a Director to avoid a repetition of the mistakes of the past”, which presumably involved some kind of commitment to keep his new club spending within its income parameters. This will be a challenge.
Some will be surprised that Murray has been given the green light, specifically after the opinion Lord Nimmo Smith expressed on directors of Rangers (in liquidation), but I’m happy this conclusion was arrived at correctly.
I searched and searched the SFA statement for news on ‘Glib and Shameless’, but they’ve clearly been unable to accept whatever assurances he’s been able to provide them, so far. Few will be surprised at this.
There’s a fine line between legitimate sporting rivalry and over-stepping the mark; the John Guidetti case illustrates this. If during a TV interview John had said Rangers (sic) are “an embarrassment of a football company”, he may have legitimacy on his side, but it’s rude to say so.
Anyone saying this on TV about any club would be asked not to by the SFA. The Association clearly believe whole “dead huns” thing falls into the same category, and have asked John to desist from such comment on TV in future, without censure.
You can’t offend the dead!
Fair enough.
I’m in a good mood, it’s as though we’re going to win the league, or something.

Ben E .King.
R I P.
A great soul singer.
Me and my big sis went to see him at The Odeon in Renfield Street in 64.Supporting Gerry and The Pacemakers.Compere was Jimmy Tarbuck.
Will dig out some Drifters choons and Stand By Me tonight and give them a twirl.
I have no problem with the SFA’s judgement on the JG case.Players and clubs have to conduct themselves with decency at all times so comments about the deid aren’t acceptable.
The attempt to make it a sectarian offence is ridiculous, a point which I made to a Hun in my work when I told him he was a,Portuguese, Catholic, Hun.
Herbo
Is that in the Oliver’s Army CSC?
Re Nigel Pearson, hero or villain – just ask yourself, would you want him at Celtic?
If yes – you are a hun.
If no – well, there’s your answer.
Two hours to go before the bus and a glass of red before tea. Then into the Turnstiles for a few beers before the game, could like this Friday lark :0)

Pearson is a hero.
He took exception to a daft question for which he felt the journalist knew the answer. Both the real answer and the answer that Pearson would give at the back end of a hard season in the EPL. He called the journalist out on his false and leading question.
The next day, in front of the whole media throng, he publicly apologized to the journalist in question.
At local level, he has been getting it in the neck for a while now, and he did no more than push back against journalists who try to make the news rather than report it, as I see it anyway. Maybe Pearson could have taken lessons from Ronny, Kris or even Stuart Armstrong on how to field daft questions, but there you go…
As for his job at Leicester, then who else will they get – especially if they go back down. The bottom half of the EPL/top half of the Championship is where the yoyos hang out.
His team are a yoyo team and he has them playing for each other. I think they will survive this season – just, and that would be regarded as a successful season by his bosses.
BTW hope you are doing well :o)

I think it will be very difficult for Sevco to get up to the old tricks that helped the liquidated club compete with Celtic.
The problems are pressing, and many – not least they are thee or four years behind Hearts and Hibs, never mind Aberdeen.
Prestonpans,
Do you drink in turnstiles often neebs?

You don’t cross the Jordan, well not on this route anyways, but you do cross the Tweed, and we just did about fifteen minutes back. So, back in the Promised Land, (best version Johnny Allen) and heading later on towards our Dear Green Place, from which to Paradise.
Think it is going to be a special football night.
Geordie Munro,
Try to get in before most games, Mrs Prestonpans is coming too, hope she enjoys the flute band!

Incidentally, was that the SFA (FTSFA) confirming that the Chairman of a new club, was actually part of an old club which DID suffer an insolvency event:-)
Hail Hail
Prestonpans,
The reason I ask is we usually go to a wee club before the game and a few of us fancied a change of scenery and after ‘refusal’ from the kds we ended in there.
I Coulda swore I saw a guy from Prestonpans I had a blether with on holiday last summer.
Sitting in a crowd of 5 or 6…near the gents.

That assumes that sevco will be treated like hearts, hibs and aberdeen, when I think we all know that is not the case … Hearts, Hibs, wont get all the calls (onfield and off field ) to assist them that Sevco will get …
And, sadly, I think the cheating will only increase as they get closer to Celtic …..
they may not be able to cheat enough to win everything, but, they will cheat enough to ensure that they are back to where they feel they belong ……
what I am seeing is people pretending that things are different, and going through sham proceedings (LNS) so they can say they did something, but, like the LNS fiasco, they seemed designed to fail, and keep the status quo.
and if everyone (or at least those who have some stake in the matter) turns a blind eye to things, then they will never change….

Sad news about the passing of Ben E. King. One of my favourite films is the very same Stand By Me, in part because of that song. Based on a novella by Stephen King, originally titled The Body, the story is part flashback, part growing up and partly of loss, something we all know about on here. Poignant even more so by the early death of one of the actors, River Phoenix just a few years after the film was made. Stand By Me, the song, captures all of that and more.
RIP Ben

I am looking forward to the Establishment and their favoured club disappear up their own arses. If only if PL and his pals would grow a pair of balls, it might not take as long.

I do indeed. McLaughlins here
May Day memory for me is classroom and chapel decked with flowers and Mary We Crown Thee (Bring Flowers of the Fairest) being sung at the top of our voices.
I can almost smell the melted wax and incense!

They are in the same league as Hearts and Hibs at the moment and are behind both.
I think they were given the benefit of the doubt by brother Thomson when they played Celtic for the first time – it didn’t do them much good. It was by some distance the easiest game Celtic have played in Sevco’s short and hilarious history.
A team can only get real help from officials when they are in a position to compete. Sevco will not challenge Celtic for at least a decade.
And that’s before we even consider the mess they are in off the pitch. That situation is unlikely to improve at any point soon.
