The SFA today confirmed that they have been able to confirm Paul Murray Fit and Proper to run a football club. After Mr Murray’s previous tenure as a football club director, I’m absolutely delighted he will again be working his magic. At Ibrox.
The SFA Professional Game Board specifically considered Murray’s “intentions as a Director to avoid a repetition of the mistakes of the past”, which presumably involved some kind of commitment to keep his new club spending within its income parameters. This will be a challenge.
Some will be surprised that Murray has been given the green light, specifically after the opinion Lord Nimmo Smith expressed on directors of Rangers (in liquidation), but I’m happy this conclusion was arrived at correctly.
I searched and searched the SFA statement for news on ‘Glib and Shameless’, but they’ve clearly been unable to accept whatever assurances he’s been able to provide them, so far. Few will be surprised at this.
There’s a fine line between legitimate sporting rivalry and over-stepping the mark; the John Guidetti case illustrates this. If during a TV interview John had said Rangers (sic) are “an embarrassment of a football company”, he may have legitimacy on his side, but it’s rude to say so.
Anyone saying this on TV about any club would be asked not to by the SFA. The Association clearly believe whole “dead huns” thing falls into the same category, and have asked John to desist from such comment on TV in future, without censure.
You can’t offend the dead!
Fair enough.
I’m in a good mood, it’s as though we’re going to win the league, or something.

Gg I wouldn’t hold your breath for that explanation from the SFA. Despite celtic saying they had to ask cos of the fans they dont feel inclined ti share the explanation with the support.
Funny that!
For all we know,Celtic may have had a reply…………..
Apparently, there is no fit and proper test at the SFA. No don’t laugh.
Anyone with a questionable background can become a member and if you are really dodgy then you can become President: You can:-
– be a secretary at two senior clubs when they go into Administraton,
– be responsible for an illegal Discount Option Scheme at a club,
– be a recipient in that illegal scheme
– be part of a conspiracy to hide those secret contract payments from the SFA
– hold shares in two senior Scottish clubs at the same time breaking SFA rules
– transfer your shares in one of those clubs to your wife which also breaks SFA rules
– fail to recuse yourself when the SFA (f which you are President) investigates one of the clubs for cheating while you were club secretary
Paul was right,
There is no fit and proper test at the SFA.
Campbell Ogilvie is testament to that.
Neganon2,
I know from your previous postings that you originally come from ” the desert wi windows” so there is no doubt that you know about life in the west of Scotland.
I sometimes agree, sometimes disagree with yourself. Cest le vie.
However not all Cqn,ers are so familiar with this aspect of Scottish society.
We should not have taken theTonev farce on his chin. Our club let him and ourselves down.
HH.
GlassTwoThirdsFull (13:18), some of us have to work to pay the bills, and just about get enough time to read the current page of comments during our half hour lunch break, never mind a couple of hours’ worth!
Sorry for the repetition.
;o)
And I wonder why the SFA haven’t mentioned anything about the G&SL yet.
Trying to find the right wording perhaps.
But Murray, as I say he was a naughty boy but is now the messiah.
DD, I’d love to be there having a pint with you. Albeit at my age too many pints pre game is not advisable. Wine or Gin pre game, pints post game, a safer combination. Enjoy the craic God Bless All.
Tom McLaughlin.
Tough times.Take care.HH.

If work goes to plan an early finish should be on the cards. Train to Paradise via the BV. Hope to meet & catch up with others.
Friday night watching Celtic.
Sounds good.
Greenpinta my experience as a resident in, ahem, lower bearsden, taught me exactly what sort of country I live in. It’s not just the tonev thing which was patently absurd, it’s al,out every single decision that the SFA make that shows it up. From the Huns sectarian signing policy to farrygate to dougie dougie etc we KNOW they are corrupt and racist. We KNOW they hate us.
I don’t get angry with the SFA etc. They are our enemies.
No I save my anger for our so called leaders at celtic. They lap it up and slap it to us, they attack their own support at the drop of a hat. They just want our money and they love the bigotry cos it’s good for business.
Just think of that vision of PL and DD on the back seat of that bus patting the seat beside you with their hand out looking for your money. Perhaps with a knife behind their back ready to stab you in yours.
melbourne mick…
Sorry Mick I didn’t see your post, it’s been a hectic week.
No, I’ve not heard from Brian yet and the number I got doesn’t connect.
I contacted my ex wife and got some photographs of our time in the Walfrid all those years ago, fond memories.
I appreciate all your efforts and will let you know if I hear from Brian. Hail Hail

By all accounts young Lawrence Shankland is one worth keeping an eye on. Scored all three against our youngsters and has made a few first team appearances.
Does anyone know why we are playing on a Friday night? Really is a pain for me and no doubt other overseas fans that have to figure out how to look busy at work when really watching Celtic winning the league.
Happy Birthday to Celtic’s best ever right back – Danny McGrain

This whole back of the bus patter is cringeworthy.
Celtic won the war and the opposition were instigators of their own downfall.
They try to recreate the former club , however it is a snarling embittered fragile version. They know how stupid they are pretending it’s the one and same. The intelligent ones admit it’s not the same club but don’t like to discuss it. It’s one big sham and we should laugh loudly with all other clubs at the tribute act.
In a way the SFA is more of a problem than the Ibrox club were. Over the years the SFA have aided and abetted the Ibrox club every step of the way and hampering Celtic as much as possible examples
– 2 SFA leaders sacked for cheating Celtic
– SFA referees incl bro McLean cheating Celtic
– allowing Ibrox club to run sectarian signing policy for over 50 years
– allowing Ibrox Clubs fans to this day chant anti Catholic songs
– appointing Campbell Ogilvie who administered the sectarian signing policy / EBTs and also benefitted from one. He would not pass any fit and proper person test for a leadership role in any normal organisation
The SFA need to be the real target for Celtic. The SFA with their referees , supported and continue to do so , the Ibrox regime. Ogilvie is the grandmaster of this cabal and as businessmen like Lawwell, Hughes, Petrie grow in numbers and influence the needed change can be driven. It’s going to take time and patience to overcome the vested interests of Ogilvie and his puppets.
Celtic need to be a real driver of change and be vocal about it. Highlight any setback , create discussion , debate and encourage the open challenging the status quo process. In change management creating transparency is the key to success. The SFA and Ogilvie in particular like to work in small rooms away from the public glare. They don’t want to be exposed. Bring the debate out into the open about the need for change.
– poor standard of refeering
– bureaucratic SFA with its committees
– SPFL structure as well trying to run the game as well
– SFA/SPFL Board and Exectutive for day to day running to be businessmen not Ogilvie and friends
– no clear strategic plan for scottish football from top to bottom
– what is the 3 year plan and what is delivered against it. How is this communicated as today scottish football is drifting in the ocean with a corrupt figure at its helm
Nobody can take the SFA seriously while Campbell Ogilvie is its leader and “referees” like Steven McLEan are given a whistle.

It was the biggest Rascal Hun you have ever met that introduced me to this band,
He would have stood shoulder to shoulder with me in a storm, I miss him (taken far too young)by our bad habits.
