SFL is over but still busy times

921

The Scottish Football League programme is now finished with only play-offs still to complete but there is still a great deal of business to complete.  The remarkable persistence of First Division clubs to find a financial model which will allow them to retain full time football shows no sign of ending, despite the difficulties presented from a couple of quarters.

Meanwhile the Third Division champions have even more pressing matters.  They have now finished their league programme and can now officially be told what they have perhaps unofficially suspected for some weeks.  Charles Green has agreed to remain a director until the end of this month.  Before he goes the ownership of Ibrox, as well as the appropriateness of the club’s IPO in December, will need to be established.  They have a three week window but nothing happens until the lawyers report, which I expect this week.

It was two years ago today Sir David Murray took a £1 payment and relieved himself of outstanding commitments to Lloyds Banking Group, the legacy of his time at Rangers.  The support Craig Whyte received at critical times in the months which followed was breath-taking.  Every hack, side-kick, and numpty ‘fan’ who told the rest to set aside all common sense deserve a medal for what they did to that club.

They don’t even understand the mock-worship Celtic fans offer Whyte is a parody on where they were 2011-12.

The huddle, liking the music links you’ve been posting, can’t be too many CQNers into the Walkmen :-)

I must learn to do the link thingy and pitch up on a Friday night with some offerings!

  2. How much would Celtic need to pay to buy James McCarthy this summer if Wigan are relegated?

Someone sent me an email saying this is a possibility but I dismissed it, thinking he would cost in excess of 10m.

    Is that an over-estimation?

I can’t see how this one can’t end up in court

  4. Revenue and debt are different things, after the SPL La Liga has got to be the sickest league in Europe despite having arguably the two biggest teams (in Europe).

  5. I posted this request earlier:

    Help please

With an acute shortage of priests in our rural diocese the laity have been asked for our thoughts regarding a possible solution.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do a closed TV broadcast simultaneously to three or four other churches?

I have had to go out but appreciate and wish to thank the earlier and excellent responses from GG, Parkheadcumsalford and Celtic_First. Lots to think about and would appreciate any other thoughts.

Now that has thrown my thinking.

So Legally so straight forward no challenge is reasonable, didn’t think it could be so.

If it is, the SFA have no where to hide.

    Ah what tomorrow brings.

Saw the Walkmen support Arcade Fire in Edinburgh couple of years ago, both brilliant

there is definitely going to be trouble tomorrow

I have just received the most serious and devastating news that will have far reaching effects

I have just been told that there is no bread or milk for breakfast

heads will roll – it doesnt get more serious than this

I understand what you are saying, but let me make it clear I was not criticising OG or any other source. My point was a general one borne out of frustration following too many false dawns, more to do with the rampant protectionism surrounding the Huns than shooting the messenger.

I have no doubt OG is on the level. It is the MSM and the SFA/SPL I don’t trust.

For those involved the room for wriggle will shrink by varying degrees.

Some will have their hands forced. Interesting times ahead

  12. Charles kids off school tomorrow, send them round to corner shop..

    That ship has long sailed.

McCarthy is now one of the hottest properties in England.

He will leave Wigan even if they stay up and we will not and frankly cannot match the fee and wages which will be involved.

He should’ve come to us from Hamilton and – contrary to the comment above – the boy would likely not have been an automatic selection with us.

Wigan deserve a fat fee for him when he goes.

    Doc

I wasn’t dissing OG, far from it, he has as you say teased us before, and has been right that things would come to the fore, but it’s his job, so he should know.

All I am saying, and a few others agree, is that nothing will come from it, unless their is specific info that fingers people doing unlawfull things, it will be swept under the carpet as per…nothing to see here Timmy.

Now we have seen people doing unlawfull things already, and nothing has been done about them, so, please forgive me for not jumping up and down in the hope things are for changing.

    It’s scotland.

And if anyone believes that fat Eck will allow anything to happen to them on his watch, when a referendum is in the offing, they are as deluded as the huns are.

    No offence btw, just the way I see it >}

  18. TET, as my previous post to Tom, point taken, and we do agree re the SFA, the handshake club, but I have some hope that legally they will be forced. Justice, after all is blind. Hopeful rather than confident.

  19. we know what we are up against and we know that had it not been for the internet bampots the orcs would have carried on regardless.

they still don’t know half of whats going on…nothing may become of it but at least it is in the public domain…

the msm would not report it so we must report it..

    as lenny said himself..

at least everyone knows we where correct all along..e

  20. The story goes that Celtic matched the Hamilton fee for McCarthy, we never thought of him as first team material at the time so only offered him said wages.

The wages offered by Wigan were more than Celtic’s top earners, prompting WGS to comment on how we couldn’t compete with EPL strugglers.

McCarthy had the option but chose Wigan.

  21. praecepta

Thanks, he needs a kick up the bahookie, a proper scandal and it’s getting ignored.
