LIAM SHAW could make his Celtic debut against his former Shefield Wednesday team-mates in July.

The Hoops will face the Yorkshire club in a closed-door friendly in Wales as they step up their pre-season plans.

The versatile Shaw, who can play centre-half or midfield, agreed a pre-contract with the club in January and will join up with his new colleagues at Lennoxtown next month.

The Parkhead club will be heading for a training camp from July 5 to 14, with games against Charlton and Bristol City planned, as CQN reported yesterday.

There was also another match to be confirmed and the Hillsborough club will fill the slot.

The Championship side, in a report in the Daily Record, confirmed: “Darren Moore’s men will spend 10 days in Wales as preparations for the new season get underway.

“Our final day at the state-of-the-art complex will see the Owls face Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in a behind closed doors friendly.

“The game takes place on Wednesday 7 July, with kick-off at 3.00pm.”

The match will be available to Celtic season ticket holders as part of the renewal incentives announced this week.

The pre-season list now reads:

July 7: v Sheffield Wednesday (3)

July 10: v Charlton (3)

July 14: v Bristol City (7:45)

When the squad return, they will prepare to play two full 90-minute encounters at Parkhead:

July 17: v Preston (5.30)

July 24: v West Ham (3)

The first Champions League qualifying match is due on July 20/21.
