Solid accounts figures from Celtic despite £7m

1027

Celtic released accounts today for the year ending 30 June 2012, a season in which they won the league and exited Europe at the Europa League group stage.  Turnover was down less than £1m at £51.34m but bank debt rose £2m to £2.77m despite a £7.37m loss (the difference between the increase in bank debt and the trading loss is due to the amortisation of player registrations, which hits the accounts evenly over the period of a player’s contract).

Football and stadium income dropped by £2m and merchandising dropped by £1m while multimedia and other commercial income rose almost £2m.  Football and stadium operating costs rose by over £2m.  The drop in stadium revenue and corresponding rise in costs are indicative of the wider economic pressures.  Inflation is affecting Celtic’s costs and Celtic fans’ ability to spend with the club.

With debt sitting at around 5% of turnover and a significant uplift in income this season assured, the club is in remarkably rude health this far into an economic downturn.  Champions League revenue this season should have a transformational effect on how Celtic can forward plan, potentially reversing that £7m loss.

Economic headwinds are likely to supress key ticket and merchandise revenue for the foreseeable future but Champions League revenues seem immune from these challenges.  The primary plan for this season must be to qualify for the group stage of Europe’s top competition next season. Get there and we can continue to operate with the existing cost structures (and more) and still pay our taxes!

Just realised that’s also more desperately needed revenue lost to them AGAIN …… Honestly it gets better by the day ……. They’re heading for liquidation, just like that other club….can’t remember their name, for the life of me……

The financial implications for the cash strapped scrofulous ones of no Ramsden’s Cup income after September are grave indeed, and may well de-rail their ambitious plans to bring CristianoRonaldo and Lionel Messi to ibrox in the January window.

  5. Karma is an interesting concept. Maybe just maybe all the grief we’ve suffered over the years is now being repaid.

Like many of us I was watching the CL game in Madrid but as it finished my dear wife directed me to BBC Alba.

I watched nearly all of the extra time and” they” are rotten .in fact the lad Orsi could have sent them out right at the end….but the penalties were outstanding.

So if we do get them in a cup this season we must make sure we humiliate them.

They are truly a 4th tier outfit

Aye… Bad result and had a couple of poor results away from home.

But if after a half dozen or so games you want to stir your shite when we need the fans support more than ever then you can jog on.

The boys out there are a brand new team, have had no pre season and will take its time to gel.

Tuesday, 18 September 2012 23:00 Ally Frustrated After Defeat

    Written by Neil Smith

ALLY MCCOIST could not hide his disappointment after watching his side exit the Ramsdens Cup following tonight’s 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat to Queen of the South at Ibrox.

The manager thought his side had done enough to secure a victory when Lee McCulloch won a spot kick with 20 minutes left and the skipper slotted the ball past Lee Robinson.

But with both teams had been reduced to ten men following the dismissals of Kevin Kyle and Willie Gibson, Gavin Reilly equalised in injury time to make it 2-2 and take the game to extra time and then the lottery of penalties.

Ally said: “It’s a sore one that’s for sure and we’re really disappointed.

“To lose in the manner we did on penalties was disappointing and I don’t think there was a lot between the teams.

“I thought we probably had done enough after we got the second goal when we were down to ten men.

“We are obviously disappointed in the way we lost the second goal as well.

“Having seen it again a couple of the boys were telling me it was our throw-in and then then the lad looked a yard offside.

“But that aside we should still be defending it better.

    “It’s not a wake-up call for me it’s just a massive disappointment.

“We were all aware how difficult the game would be tonight against a good Queen of the South side that are doing well in the league and they also knocked Hibs out of the League Cup.

“But we definitely need to do more in terms of creation with the ball.

“Tonight we didn’t do it as much as we have done in our recent home games.”

  20. The last bit was mine by the way ROW Z is only down to

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. :)))))

  21. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

    From tomorrows Sun.

After the game, a bloated and dejected Ally McCoist said “Well, obviously we are pish and disappointed to go out of the pawnbrokers cup, clearly we have some subtance abuse problems which we are addressing. I am a fat raging pie faced idiot and will be telling the players this isn’t good enough and must never happen again. I’m sure you’ll see a bigger pie in my mouth at the the next game”

Then he hobbled of like a fat hobbldehoy…………..sigh.
