Soon the world will know, you were not paranoid after all

Tonight Sevco accepted all outstanding penalties attributable to the SFA membership of soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers.  They also agreed that if Rangers are found to have cheated for over a decade by illegally registering players that they will be subject to whatever penalties Rangers would be due, in order to acquire Rangers SFA membership.

Only a week ago Ally McCoist insisted he would not be party to such a deal, it remains to be seen if that they were empty words.

The Scottish Premier League will now continue with its inquiry into the alleged dual-contracts Rangers operated during the Sir David Murray era.  I confidently predict the findings will reveal Rangers did not operate within the same rules as every other club, since at least the last century.  The former club will be stripped of all league titles and cups.  Celtic will be awarded league titles for 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011, creating a new Scottish record of 12 consecutive league championship wins.

Sevco will be liable for any punishment due for these years of operating with shadow contracts, the likely severity of which will reflect the enormity of the offence.

Should the First Tier Tribunal find that Rangers evaded paying up to £75m of social taxes, which is explicitly against Fifa and SFA rules, the SFA disciplinary tribunal will punish Sevco, the successor club now due to inherit Rangers SFA membership.

If you are on the receiving end of this, the future will appear daunting.  If you stood at Rugby Park, Fir Park, Celtic Park, St Mirren Park or Caledonian Stadium, when Celtic effectively or actually ‘lost’ league titles while observing the rules, the cumulative effects of punishments on a rival are meaningless, you will want trophies awarded to those who were prepared to endure defeat while observing the rules.

One day soon the world will know, you were not paranoid after all!

  1. I am confused (as usual) – Sevco are taking on Rnagers punishments if they ever happen. Clear enough.

Potentially Sevco have accepted a licence which may involve them having to accept a suspension from football if the use of dual contracts is, as expected, found to have happened over more than a decade.

This must also open them up to the possibility that not only will they have to take the sporting punishments for not paying taxes but also the real legally binding fiscal ones – ie a big feckin’ bill on the doormat.

Of course they could not and would not accept this. Green must be pretty sure that HMRC won’t come after Newco. My question is – why? If they are assuming the mantle of Oldco, playing at Ibrox, same customers, same name, same colours, trading in the same business – how can they avoid being pursued by the tax man for the bills of the old club?

Are we witnessing yet more monumental mistakes?

  2. Hector Avocado. Ho, ho, ho It's magic, you know, it's gonna be 12 in a row. on

I think Green is betting on a newco actually playing and having the sympathy vote from the laptop loyal as not to be touched after all the hassles of getting them up and running.

We don’t care what the animals say. We play Milan,we have European football,we are playing la-liga champions in a glamour friendly,we are 1/33 to win the TOP league in Scotland. We will be on 15 in a row by the time the Huns get back.

Feck u Rangers Celtic is number 1. Brechin in the ramsden cup. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  4. I see that a shabby little deal was agreed last night to let a new club into the SFA. Preferential treatment for a club with no history, no dignity and no shame – but then we all expected that.

McCoist is playing to the crowd one again with his mad statement. The bears will love him even more – but to any right thinking person he is a hypocritical balloon who typifies the “we expect everything” sense of entitlement inherent in the hun.

He mentions 10 months of mismanagement – what about the ten years plus of cheating before that? It’s like Ben Johnson asking for his gold medal back because he won the race.

The SPL must now get the stalled inquiry restarted. They must expose to the world the scale of the cheating that was carried out by the former Rangers. And they must impose the appropriate sanctions. For any other club that would be expulsion.

I’ve always said that Sevco is a new club and should be treated as such. In accordance with the established rules of football. No favours and no new sanctions, just fair and impartial application of the laws.

But if they want to continue this absurd farce that they are Rangers then they need to accept what they are claiming as theirs. A rotten and corrupt club that lied and cheated its way to honours.

    Simple statement from Celtic

If rangers are the same company they can pay there outstanding taxes.

  6. Good morning,

Is anyone meeting up before the game for a pint, would love to put faces to names.

    Hail Hail.

  7. RT

HMRC stated when BDO were appointed that they were happy for football still to be played at Ipox. HMRC are chasing the directors and managers , expect tax bills to be dropping through doors, goodness knows what when on there, consider this Bain sent out an email stating ” I’m I the only one paying tax here ….”

In that environment, BDO will have a field day banning directors for life, sending charges to the SFO , tax bills being retrospectively calculated , it will be joyous to behold.

  8. I’m sure similar sentiments have been echoed elsewhere but let’s hope in order to secure their licence the Sevco satisfied the powers that be that they can fulfil their seasons fixture commitments. It’d be a huge embarrasment for all concerned if they got shoe horned in and couldn’t and we wouldn’t want that now, would we?

  16. So the opportunity to rid Scotland of THE focal point for hatred, bigotry, and sectarianism is lost.

This was THE one opportunity to cut this blight out from the heart of Scotland.

They will be back eventually, and it will be triumphed by the MSM at every step, referees will be pressured, honest mistakes preserved.

Well done SFA, SFL, and SPL you have just closed the door on any positive future for Scottish football.

I feel sorry for all of the decent teams and towns in Scottish football who will now suffer ‘visits’ by the dregs of society, make no mistake the ones that will cling on to the re-animated corpse of RFC will be the ones who hate the most, they will spew their pathetic, hate filled views across the land, and be applauded by the MSM for doing so.

It remains to be seen if the police will grow a pair and start enforcing the law, after all one of the excuses for not dealing with the sectarian songs and behaviour was they did not have enough officers to deal with 40000 bigots, lets see how they get on with handling a few hundred breaking the law of the land in front of their eyes.

I was looking forward to a future in Scottish Football were my young sons could follow Celtic FC safe in the knowledge that wearing the hoops was a show of allegiance to Celtic FC and not to a religion, sure in the knowledge that the league system would be fair with a level playing field, that opportunity is now lost, I will now not encourage my sons to wear the hoops as I have had enough violent experience of wearing them through the years, I really thought there was a bright future just around the corner, that has now been snuffed out.

RIP Scottish Football 27 July 2012

If you don’t need CD/DVD on it, think about a netbook. I had to replace a laptop recently and went for netbook. The HDD is now the same size as my previous laptop (last time I was in the market they had no memory to speak of) and the only thing smaller is the RAM – which doesn’t really matter if you’re not gaming or doing serious video editing.

  20. RobertTressell @ 10:01,

It is a very odd naunced situation.

They seem to be arguing that the R@ngers Company is a seperate entity from the Club.

The Company is in the process of being liquidated so a new Company was incorporated who are not resopnsible for the liabilities of the Old Company. They bought the Footballing and associated assets of the Club from the Old Company and the New Company can act as a vechicle for the Club.

No idea how this works legally but if I was Charles Green I would have dumped the history and started up a new club called (furinstance) Rangers United and relaunched in Division III, we know the SFA would have facilitated this.

Why take the risk of being seen as a Pheonix and leave yourself vunerable to indeterminable sanctions and costs in both Footballing and Corporate terms?

My theory with the History in place, warts an’awe makes the sale to real R@nger’s men more attractive. Mr Green has no intention of being near that fan when it hits.

I could be wrong but if Charles Green is signing up for this I would say he will be selling up, settling up and getting out of dodge pronto.

The public exchequer ie schools, hospitals, home helps etc etc etc lose out but football doesn’t.

    It’s tantamount to bribery.

Pay money to the SFA, the SPL and the member clubs and you can get a registration even though you don’t meet the entry criteria.

There’s no integrity left in the Scottish game.

Because newco doesn’t meet the entry criteria of the SFL.

They need the pretence of being a descendant of the oldco to be a member of the league.

If you look at the sanction Glennie’s judgement he more or less says suspension or exclusion would have been appropriate for Whyte’s 10 months of mismanagement.
