SPL cannot hold secret meetings with Rangers bidders

806

All three outfits looking to take control of Rangers want to meet the SPL before formalising their bids.  It would be inappropriate for any bidder to discuss the terms under which a new company could enter the SPL with the League’s executive.  It is not their place to negotiate with the League, or to establish the terms under which they would be prepared to spend money on Rangers.

Let’s be clear about what cannot be achieved by meeting the League:

The SPL cannot give them any indication as to whether the resolutions will be passed

They cannot give them any indication if other resolutions will be proposed and passed

They cannot give them any indication on the probability of a new company being given access to the SPL

SPL executives have no influence on these matters.  From an information discovery position, these meetings are utterly pointless, there is no need for them and no insight can be gained from them.

The SPL executive cannot consider representations from third parties who are hoping to cut a deal on buying a club.  If any bidder were to discuss their own bid or the consequences of any sanction the meeting becomes wholly inappropriate.

Any meetings which do take place should be minuted, with minutes distributed to all SPL clubs, and should be open to any other SPL clubs who wish to attend.

No secret deals, no secret attempts to influence.

Pay your bills!

  1. I’m a tiny bit nervous about tomorrow. The team will have had a different week, mind you the memory of the league cup and the bizarre match against rangers will be strong.Hearts aren’t a good side but that hasn’t been a barometer for how well we’ve done this season. It’s been more about us than the opposition.

    my memory as well

would have happily slapped him that day

in fact would still happily slap him

  3. Is the alternative a Dunfermline FC scenario that same day, with Jimmy Calderwood arranging for the players to go straight to the airport for a club holiday from Ibrox?

I would prefer players to play out of their skins for their teams no matter what the circumstances.

I see you still cannot give credit to the Magnificent Kojo for his inspirational and perspicacious posts on this defining day of the League campaign.

    Cometh the Hour,Cometh the Man….

Whilst hysteria prevailed, and all around were losing their Moonbeams Wet Dreams,it fell to Cool Haun’ Kojo to provide a forensic analysis, and draw strengths from the positives..

Indeed,if Kojo had been present in person at Rugby Park on that turbulent day,I’m sure he would have lead the Green Brigade in a rousing rendition of “Ac-cent-tu-ate The Positive,E-lim-in-ate The Negative”,as the team returned to the pitch after halftime…..

Who would have bet against a 3-7 scoreline, when the final whistle sounded?

It is only in adversity that the real qualities and fortitude of any individual can truly be judged…

Sir Kojo…I salute your steadfastness and steely indefatigability…

You’re the sort I’d have beside me in the trenches….Not those milquetoast tumbleweed socialistas……

Who would sell their Granny’s only good eye,if she turned her back on them for a moment…

    Right ? Yer Damned Right..

    Ain’t that so,Virginia….??

If the Green Brigade were aware of Kojo’s politics they may have him at the front of the section….but his heid would be on a stick!! :-)

If we approach the game in the same way as we did last week, and the way we should do all the time, defend from the front get right in about them in there own half of the field,we will cause the them problems,it’s when we drop back we, can make trouble for ourselves. Also lets hope we don’t have any non starters, as we did in the LC, no excuses, and play the way we can.

I see it in the same way as Craig Gordon coming up for a corner when his team had nothing to play for. I would prefer our opponents to give their all.

  10. Ok fair enough was in the air on way back from Seville when that game was being played and for obvious reasons have never watched back! All i said was his own words that he always enjoyed the celtic supporters club nights

If you really want to re-produce Kojo’s magnificent defence of Neil Lennon, rather than re-imagine it in your own head, go ahead.

After the Killie game, Kojo basically said- We are stuck with Lenny because all the good managers are taken. Hardly a rousing defence.

And, if Kojo ever briefly thought favourably of Neil Lennon then it would not take his butterfly brain long to ditch that and return to the “corner boy” jibes.

I believe I have wasted more text on this response as you have proved yourself impermeable to factual reasoning in the past.

    Ho! And, indeed, hum!

Have to agree with hamiltontim on the Gordon Marshall front although I’m sure he was ordered to time waste by that creature of a manager.

  18. I would hate to think an opponent didn’t try against us. Although I never took to Skippy, it was nothing to do with Black Sunday. He was a pro and did what he was paid to do.

However, Marshall was different. Killie were being beaten in a meaningless game for them. Rather than try and give their fans something to cheer by going for goals, Marshall wasted tme – an act that benefitted only rangers. As already mentioned, he may have been following orders…

I take your point and it would be hypocritical of us now to be highlighting the issues of sporting integrity and then ignore their relevance in Celtic games. However, that day he fought with Celtic players on two separate occasions, on the last day of the season, when his team are 4-0 down and his own team have nothing to play for.

  20. Just been reading back

My. What a narrow, bitter angry place CQN can be sometimes.

Off to watch the John Hartson DVD to cheer myself up.

  21. Just reading that the 2014 Champions’ League final is back in Lisbon for the first time since 1967. Now there’s a thought :-)!!!

It’s at Benfica’s stadium rather than Estadio Nacional.

  22. Andrés Iniesta comes on to turn the game. Well received by the Levante fans, as he is at every ground in Spain except one. Which is the odd ground out?

Clue: it’s not the Bernabéu. Andrés is well received there.

  24. Nah diy clippers mate! Prob strange game to never have seen but thems the breaks. Captain of plane was told only to tell us the result if celtic had won. Next thing we heard was that that the huns had clinched it. Some end to that week but it was still one of the best times of my life

  25. tttt

We’re good mate. Thanks for asking.

Didn’t know that GL2 has had problems recently.
