SPL cannot hold secret meetings with Rangers bidders

806

All three outfits looking to take control of Rangers want to meet the SPL before formalising their bids.  It would be inappropriate for any bidder to discuss the terms under which a new company could enter the SPL with the League’s executive.  It is not their place to negotiate with the League, or to establish the terms under which they would be prepared to spend money on Rangers.

Let’s be clear about what cannot be achieved by meeting the League:

The SPL cannot give them any indication as to whether the resolutions will be passed

They cannot give them any indication if other resolutions will be proposed and passed

They cannot give them any indication on the probability of a new company being given access to the SPL

SPL executives have no influence on these matters.  From an information discovery position, these meetings are utterly pointless, there is no need for them and no insight can be gained from them.

The SPL executive cannot consider representations from third parties who are hoping to cut a deal on buying a club.  If any bidder were to discuss their own bid or the consequences of any sanction the meeting becomes wholly inappropriate.

Any meetings which do take place should be minuted, with minutes distributed to all SPL clubs, and should be open to any other SPL clubs who wish to attend.

No secret deals, no secret attempts to influence.

“Read about the parts of Simon Cowell’s love life that he’s kept secret,” says The Sun advert. I’d rather wash my haw maws with a cheese grater.

The cheese grater sounds better than Veet for Men though…..

Last I read they were in the top 5 but weren’t top.

  4. A female TV presenter grabs Lionel Messi on the way off the park for an interview. She says: “Cristiano Ronaldo always shows off his thigh when he scores. Can you show us anything now, quickly?”

    Lord have mercy.

Fair play to wee Lionel. He just said: “No, I’m not showing anything. I’m just glad the team won and that we’re still in the hunt for the title.”

  5. Algarvian. I was working on a piece of text yesterday in which Millonarios from Bogotá claimed to have a support of seven million people.

  6. Lol, i just googled there, some bleacher report, they have man u no1, us at 13, huns at 15, benfica nowhere, lolol.

I am registered on the Benfica fan site as a member and I still get birthday greetings from them. I am also on the AC Milan members list.

They register you if you ever enquire about getting tickets for a match there and I have sourced CL tickets for the home section of their stadium, in case I never got a Celtic allocation, by claiming to be a Scots fan of their club. Not sure if you can trust their claims as to membership size but they are undoubtedly the biggest club in Portugal.

I can only think its a growing awareness that eyes are watching them from outwith Scotland and that a fix may not be possible.

It puzzled me that all 3 bidders for Rangers said that the Doncaster rule changes, whilst unwelcome, did not deter them from their bids. Yet Duff & Phelps felt they could not complete their nomination of preferred bidder because of them. That just reinforces my view that this is a fakeover and no sleight of hand can make liquidation go away.

I remain offended that Doncaster et al played along with the pretence by advancing their immoral proposals in the face of so much fan opposition.

  13. Still, i know barca are pleasing on the eye, but i just can’t get my head around the debt thing, you may as well say the huns are ok as long as they pay 50 pence a year towards theirs, each to their own i suppose.

the SPL`s performance in this farce has been disgraceful

thankfully onlookers outwith this rotten league are beginning to take notice

  17. Just watching espn, Jack Dempsey v Jess Willard, outdoors, 112 degrees, Willard looks about 2 feet bigger, lol.

    arrant nonsense mate

the huns have systematically swindle every creditor

if Barca are not paying the Spanish tax man and all their debtors then they may be classed in the same category

btw ..any idea how much debt Man Utd are in

  19. Incredible, jack Dempsey looks like a flyweight in comparison, yet has knocked him down umpteen times in the 1st round, stopped in the 4th.

  20. That’s why I can’t get excited about other leagues, Barca, Real Madrid, etc. etc. bankrolled by the taxpayer, not for me I’m afraid.

  21. lol, Dempsey v Sirpo, knocked him down 9 times in the 1st round, then gets knocked out the ring himself, just the 1st round!

I very much doubt that the likes of Xavi,Inesta and Messi had anything to do with the taxpayer.

    In what respect?

If they are gazillions in debt, how are they able to pay these guys?

    Who is paying for them?

I know they came through their academy, so what, what wages are they on?

We can’t differentiate between teams we “like’ and those we don’t, it doesn’t matter if it’s man u, barca, real, or anyone else.

  24. I don’t know enough about the Spanish sides debt except that it must be huge but Manchester United’s is massive. The difference is they are servicing their debt through a huge operating profit and are paying their taxes while rangers have got to the stage were it wasn’t possible to service their debt and simply stopped paying their country’s taxes.

  25. C1st, cheers. Is that because he’s a Basque playing for Spain, or is there some history with the club?

    Sorry for the grilling :-)
