SPL could learn from Irish FA. SFA could learn from everyone

207

Before the SPL launch headlong into the process of ensuring Financial Fair Play they would do well to look over the water at the Irish Football Association (we’ll leave aside the fact that it’s the Irish FA who are on top of this situation there, but the league who are looking to tighten things up here, as the SFA await the next Any Other Business moment on a scheduled meeting).

Each month, every IFA club are required to complete a form which details information on whether wages, PAYE, NI and VAT have been paid.  It also asks if historic HMRC repayment plans have been maintained, whether lenders have indicated they will remove or not renew borrowing facilities and several other questions designed to flush out future problems.  Clubs, which are largely part-time with volunteer administrators, are also required to submit audited accounts.

Importantly, clubs must also authorise the IFA to inquire directly to HMRC to confirm details on the form are submitted accurately.

This single form, with authority to speak to HMRC, would have prevented Craig Whyte’s ‘business model’ from getting off the ground.

While the SPL should be applauded for tackling this issue their action must embarrass the moribund SFA.  Embarrassment might reach further heights when the SPL call SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, to give evidence into their inquiry into Rangers’ alleged double contract practice.

I’m talking about the Maestro Paul McStay who, imo, would have been in a far better mindset if, John Collins was captain instead .

It was inevitable as Rangers crisis deepened that they would implode and start fighting amongst thermselves. That is exactly what is beginning to happen King and co. have given up on the current Rangers position and are now posturing for position in newco Rangers 2012.So expect more revelations expect more in fighting to take place and expect to see Rangers liquidated and Rangers 2012 new co.being formed in the not to distant future.H.H.

Dave King. Unbelievable. Who is this plonker to pontificate on Our Hero and his double dealings after his own record in South Africa. The fact that he has even had the chutzpah to contact the SFA for guidance on him being a’fit and proper’ person to be a director of a Newco beggars belief! It shows the extent of his arrogance. Whitey’s a crook but I did all my crooked dealings in SA. I haven’t committed any crimes in Sconnie Botland so I’m OK.

The players appear to have reached a Stalemate with the admins who are acting on behalf of the Queen. The fans, meanwhile, are just Pawns in all of this. Where does the Bishop come in I wonder?

  10. Sorry Paul67…maybe I have the wrong end of the stick but your posts alude to a once-great club called Belfast Celtic….

There’s no good reason why they can’t get their lawyers to prepare a statement setting out exactly what procedure will be followed and the basis for it.

Surely this is not the same Dave King whose company Ben Nevis has outstanding tax liabilities of R2.7 billion South African Rand and whose Quoin Rock Wine Estate was taken over by SARS (South African Revenue Service) as payment for some of these outstanding tax issues.

Quoin Rock Wine Estate has since been sold at auction, raising 55m Rand for SARS.

Fine well everyone with Celtic leanings Knows that the SFA re going to bend over backwards to allow the newco a place in the SPL.

The SFA and SPL individuals should be aware that we will watch them closely and if they step out of the rule book, we will highlight it and there may be job casualties if they get it wrong. There is never a good time, but the sad loss of the QC could not have come at a worse time. A very good man to have in our corner last season and also in the coming weeks and months ahead.

The e mail chain that you have highlighted demonstrates that ND is shuffling the chairs and creating room for manoeuvre

The recent Phil and Stewart Regan tweets demonstrate that SR does not have the bottle/mettle to take up such a fight either

The media, are already printing nonsense on the subject to try to create an atmosphere of confusion

  28. “I am absolutely satisfied in my mind that Mike McGill (and hence the Murray Group) had no knowledge that the proof of funds supplied by Craig Whyte’s attorneys was secured by season ticket sales. I am further satisfied that the Murray Group would not have proceeded with the transaction if the true source of the funds had been disclosed.”

    —————————-

Is King expecting anyone to believe that Murray had no knowledge of what Whyte was up to with Ticketus prior to the sale ? RFC(IA) had previous dealings with Ticketus. Surely if some dodgy character was trying to mortgage £24m worth of season tickets via a club he didn’t own then the lending company would at least contact RFC(IA) to ask a few questions regarding the proposal.

  29. jock steins celtic on

Killie should have been selling their tickets section by section so A5/6 should be next to the Celtic support. There doesn’t appear to be much enthusiasm from Kilmarnock fans for the final so them having some of the South Stand and about half the Rangers end would be about right I reckon.

  30. tommytwiststommyturns on

Mort – if they are selling to anyone, then some tickets could definately fall into the wrong hands….and I don’t mean Hoops fans!

Killie wouldn’t have got more than 17,000 and would definately struggle to sell those.

They shouldn’t be allowed to sell blocks of tickets like that, they should be returned to the league with the option of those tickets then being offered to Celtic fans.

  31. While I am overjoyed about the end game approaching I would be cautious that we and other clubs will be awarded their tained trophies as Paul is suggesting. On April 22, 2010 Melbourne Storm were stripped of their 2007 and 2009 NRL Rugby League titles and their 2006, 2007 and 2008 Minor Premierships, due to long-term salary cap breaches. These Premierships were not awarded to any other team!!!!!!!

A5 & A6 are in the Rangers end , near the corner that attaches to the main stand. High risk i would say as you will have Killie fans all around you.

As much as the pricing for the final is to be commended, The SFL could have done better by realins the Killie tickets to them in blocks that would have allowed any unsold to be given to Celtic fans without compromising the segregation.

I wouldnt trust that the Killie fans on the day will be all Killie fans. There will likely be some hurting huns.
