On the strip selection, I was unaware that the shirts were selected by the referee’s on all occasion’s, I thought they were only allowed to interfere when there was an obvious clash that could cause mistakes in differentiating teams and players. And why we can wear the hoops so often, I’d have expected to see the hoops less often had I known this rule.

I need to reassess my incorrect assertion that we have so many strips because the PLC want to milk the support. I wrongly blamed the PLC for this, learn something old every day eh.

I remember this being discussed on many occasions on here and was never put right, I wonder why, am I not alone with this misconception? :oD)))

  4. On the strip issue …

I think it’s more to do with our contract with Addidas than the board …

But I suppose it’s easier to blame the board then scream and shout to extend players contracts and buy new players …

  5. If our away strip clashed with the refs then why didn’t he change.

Seems logical to change 1 top instead of 11.

Ah well I,m sure he knows what he is doing!!!

    COYBIG (Grey).

    Deniabhoy,

The manager told us so I’m satisfied with that, just wondering why that link was never provided during all the discussions about the board milking the supporters with all their new and numerous strips and strip colour changes.

I now understand a bit better. they’ve literally got to try and predict what other teams strip changes are going to be for each new season.

  7. Good strong side Celtic

Plenty to work on with that team.

Go to work Celtic, for us and each other

Do your best Celtic and hopefully a victory come

    Hail Hail

    ……………..

I didnt know this so called ” RULE” that a REF has the Power to tell Clubs what Colour of Stripes they MUST wear ?

What if a Club have a “CONTRACT CLAUSE” with their Kit Supplier to wear a 2nd or 3rd Strip so many times during a Season, and then a Ref DECIDES that a Club can NOT wear a certain Strip, which may be at odds with the agreement between the Cub and Kit supplier ?

Do the REFS INSIST that the Huns MUST wear their Oranjee Strip ?

Do the Refs tell the Huns that the Hun Goalies MUST wear a full Oranjee Strip ?

    HH

    Deniabhoy,

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what colour the strips are :o) happily its becoming less of a feature under Ange.

Same team as the final, I’m happy with that.

Re the grey strip today .

The last st Mirren away game was the only game I can remember thinking that there was a clash of kits and that the referee shouldnt have gave it the go ahead .So I am surprised to find out that it is the referee’s decision to have us play in the grey kit .

Is there an explanation as to why the referee deems the grey kit should be worn over the green away kit

    HH

  11. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Big Jimmy,

I expect the contract must be in compliance with the rules of the game, so any such clause would be a risk the kit supplier must accept at their own cost.

  12. Just rewatched highlights of the game from 5 months ago and the strips were a bit hard to distinguish.

Aye, the ref wants to wear the hoops :oD)))))

  14. Big Jimmy – Ange said the kit choice for today was on the ref’s decision, I don’t think it means they always decide, only when there is a perceived clash (see my earlier above).

It also says in those guidelines that shorts and socks shouldn’t clash as it impacts how linesmen call offside decisions. Interestingly, when we played against St Mirren in the grey top, both tops also had blach shorts so the ref didn’t do his job properly :)

  15. Maybe the ref thinks …

The last time these fenian bassas lost they wore grey

If we lose today they will try and get us to play on grey the rest of the season

    Paranoid ?

    Never paranoid enough

The Alistair Johnston interview pre match is excellent

  16. Can someone explain to me how green and white hoops clash with black and white stripes.

How did we manage to play Dunfermline so many times without causing havoc and confusion?

  17. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

Also like to know, are the shirt colours issued to the ref prioritised with the clubs preference on what the team want to wear? So the ref chooses from, 1. the home kit hoops, 2. the away kit black strip, 3. the third kit grey strip, 4. training kit green, 5. bareback, 6. teeshirts….

  18. Tom McLaughlin on

    BIG JIMMY

The contract with Adidas dictates that each kit must be worn a certain number of times during a season. It doesn’t specify in which games they have to be worn.

  19. If Celtic can move on Ajeti do you think we should sign Moussa Dembele on a free transfer ? HH

    4-0 up the Celts

  20. If an away team’s second kit is the same colour as the home team’s home kit, they would be made to wear their third kit (which, ideally, is different to both the opposition team’s home and away strip).

Additionally, if a visiting team’s primary kit is different to the home team’s home strip – such as if Chelsea (who play in blue) were to visit Liverpool at Anfield (who play in red), both teams would be allowed to play in their respective first kits.

The FA’s rules on shirts are as follows:

The two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other and the match officials

Each goalkeeper must wear colours that are distinguishable from the other players and the match officials

If the two goalkeepers’ shirts are the same colour and neither has another shirt, the referee allows the match to be played.

The priorities of kits are ranked as follows:

    M.22.1. 1st priority: the outfield players of the home club who shall wear their home strip;

    M.22.2. 2nd priority: the outfield players of the visiting club;

    M.22.3. 3rd priority: the home club goalkeeper;

M.22.4. 4th priority: the visiting club goalkeeper.

There are, however, no set official rules on determining what exactly constitutes a kit clash (such as colours), which results in the lack of consistency.

But something that is important, yet might often be overlooked, is the kit clash with shorts and socks worn by footballers.

It is especially important for players from opposing teams to wear shorts and socks of distinctive colours, as linesmen and referees need to be able to see which player is past the final line of defence to judge whether or not they have been offside.

I’m just worried that this St Mirren team are so fast their black and white will blur into grey and we get more confusion :oD)))

  22. 25 Minutes BEFORE the KICK AFF….and some Punter is HUCKLED by the Polis right behind the Sky Pundits and is led away on the track.

OOPS….Maybe it was BRRB being done by the Cops for being too Drunk and Disorderly ?

  23. Tom 11.40am

You could be right but am sure we actually only wore the pink strip once

Adidas are only concerned about the number of kits, if we sign a contract and take the dosh Celtic as a club have no say in the amount of kits “our” suppliers want out there …

    Anyhow … nearly game time

Mon the Hoops …. Ah mean

    Mon the Grey brigade 🍀

    …………….

i know that, but ” WHAT IF” Celtic had ALREADY worn a particular Strip the CONTRACTED Number of times, and did NOT wish to wear the same Strip again ?

ANGE dint appear to happy with this GREY Strip in the last couple of days, maybe Celtic should have left that Strip at home, and taken a different strip…..or would Celtic be made to FORFIET the Three Points, just because they disagreed with a Refs decision about ” Which Strip” ?

THAT GREY Jersey and BLACK Shorts v St Mirrens Black and White outfit WAS quite distracting the last time.

    MENTAL.
