    Cayman, I agree with your comment about Lasley and Goodwin, but Referees allow their brand of football in Scotland. The MSM laud it, especially when we are on the receiving end.

     

    It’s one of the main reasons Scottish teams leave Europe before most holiday makers.

    The floodgates could open in the second half. Let’s hope so. I want to see Wakaso taking on the defenders. I think Guidetti likes us and we’re getting to like him.

    Goodwin was lucky that tesselar got the last ditch tackle on the ball as that was a foul by him on JG

     

     

    Then lucky the ball ended in the net as that was another red card offence

     

     

    Maybe just lucky the MIB is the MIB

    St Mirren playing deep then quite a high line when we attack.

     

    Forwards just need to be smart and we will catch them wrong footed with crisp balls into space behind them.

     

    Narrow pitch does not help our passing game but you have to adapt so get behind them with diagonals.

     

    Not any standout performances for me but some decent signs from Wakaso and if he room to run then we would see much more.

     

    Guidetti is a finisher who needs balls in that tap in zone and he will oblige, Hooperesque.

     

    Stokes looks hungrier than usual too.

    St Mirren got a couple of Buses parked.

     

     

    I think we’ve done well to break them down. I assume they’ll open up and change their shape chasing an equaliser, this should, in turn, mean more room for us to play football in, hopefully, in the last third.

     

     

    Was never going to be a spectacle this match until we got a goal.

     

     

    Here’s hoping for more room and goals second half

    St Mirren are organised and solid so I’m definitely pleased to go in 1 up at half time. The goal showed we’re going to get our best chances from overlapping runs down the wings, so I’d like to see Stokes and McGregor hugging the touchline more.

    score about right. Young O’Connell settling in fine. Johansen showing what he usually shows, nothing! If the opposition didn’t go near him he would be a good player.

     

    Izzy and Stokes working hard.

     

    McGregor not suited for that role with the opposition lined up the way they are, he needs space.

     

    Guidetti looking the player we thought he was , Goodwin should have been carded for the tackle leading to the goal

     

    Wakaso anxious to get into the game.

    Problem is, when teams sit in against us, we don’t have any wingers who can take their man on and create some space for others. Guidetti making great movement, no one, as yet, clever enough to spot them and feed him the pass, still feel that Efe is a mistake waiting to happen and McGregor has shaded a bit of the last couple of games por cierto

    I think he’ll stay on in Scotland for a bit.

    Celtic have rarely played any better at St Mirren Park since that ground opened.

     

     

    Nothing different in this display to virtually every one of our other visits there in the last four years.

     

     

    We deserve to be ahead against a team with 11 men behind the ball most of the time.

     

     

    The Spanner almost puking – ‘Celtic have a very slender lead’ that is still a lead though.

    HT St Mirren 0-1 Celtic

     

     

    Pretty dire stuff to be honest. The performance reflects our season to date, with less than 50% win rate in 16 competitive games so far. We have won only 7 and that includes games against the poor teams we had to play in the CL qualifiers.

     

     

    One of my biggest concerns is the faith Ronny seems to have in Johansen. I just don’t see the quality there that we need in midfield. There is now a heavy reliance on Broonie so it begs the question – what has changed?

     

     

    Pass marks to Virgil and young O’Connell. The rest have done just ok. It’s enough to beat StMirren who are unlikely to score many this season based on what we have seen from them today.
