Stand up for the Champions

I know when you begin to dominate a championship that when another team eventually lift the trophy it can seem like an intolerable failure; compare our distress in 2009 to our resolve to do better after the final home game in 1996.  Time adds perspective to our triumphs.  As does not being there and seeing photos of the presentation hours after the event.

These are special times, enjoy them.

Many thanks to the Columba Club in Blantyre for Friday night’s Question and Answer event, and to the irrepressible Phil Agnew, who organised the event.  I was delighted to share a stage with Paul McConville and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.  Great to see so many CQN’ers there too, my only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with everyone. With supporters like those in Blantyre on Friday night, we’re in good hands.

Remember to buy Heart of a Lion, Willie Wallace’s magnificent autobiography, available below.

  1. I’m enjoying this special time. Perhaps a bit too much. My head hurts. Well done Sean in the FA cup final.

Thanks again Celtic for the season ticket reduction. Prior to this I was waiting to hear the Sevco media tarts trotting out “no need for Celtic fans to buy season books, they can pick and choose what games blah, blah gibberish”. Well I have picked and chosen to renew. Everyone I know are all renewing and all delighted with the direction Celtic is taking, as someone summarised very well earlier.

Oh and Heart of A Lion just publised. Will be a welcome addition to my small collection of signed Lion books.

Seriously? Are you in London? Give John all my best wishes. If it is him, could you tell him he can get my number from our Polish friend? Thanks.

It’s him alright. I know the rest of that story – Murphy ended up at Love Street for a trial with the Buddies.

We are in Glasgow this week. Up for the game yesterday and we went to the Blantyre Q&A on Friday. He’s not in touch with the Polish friend these days.

I’m trying to work out who you are. Did you used to live in The Square?

I shouted for a penalty and then realised I was never going to get one due to the association with the Columba club…

Are you around this week? We’ve hired a motor and can get through to Auld Reekie if you fancy meeting up. I know Murph (I’m not telling him about this conversation by the way) would love to catch up with you again.

I haven’t seen you since John’s wedding. Spend a fair amount of time with you and the missus that night.
